Kevin McCarthy has Effectively Resigned as House Minority Leader
Free Republic ^ | July 27, 2021 | wildcard_redneck

It is time to acknowledge and ugly truth. Kevin McCarthy has effectively resigned his position as Republican House Minority Leader. by allowing Nancy Pelosi to usurp his power to seat Republicans representatives on House committees. McCarthy should try to retain some dignity and resign as House Minority Leader and make way for someone that will fight for Americans like Rep. Jim Jordan.

If GOP representatives are accepting appointments from Democrat Nancy Pelosi instead of Kevin McCarthy then McCarthy has demonstrably lost control of the Republicans in the House and he must resign. Kevin McCarthy has surrendered to Nancy Pelosi and, if the Republican party does not want to surrender to Nancy Pelosi as well, the it can no longer be led by McCarthy.

It is a sad spectacle to watch a full grown man in the prime of his life being publicly humiliated over and over again by an 80 year old woman. Kevin McCarthy has been castrated as a leader and he does not seem to mind all that much. How could a man with such a strong jaw have such a weak spine? Kevin McCarthy is so submissive to Nancy that him wearing a gimp suit and a ball-gag in the House chambers would be appropriate.

If Kevin McCarthy does not find the courage to resign with some dignity then California Republicans must vote him out in the 2022 Republican primaries. If Kevin McCarthy manages to win his primary election then Republican voters need to remove this loser from his House Minority Leader position by voting for his Democrat opponent.

Kevin McCarthy works for Nancy Pelosi now and we can do better.

To be fare to Kevin McCarthy did not allow Pelosi to usurp his power to seat his candidates to the Kangaroo Commission. The Speaker typically has the power to exclude members from committees as he or she wishes. When Pelosi vetoed two of McCarthy’s choices, he all that he could, he pulled all his choices off of the commission.

The Kangaroo Commission is ‘bipartisan’ now in name only with two Republican Trump haters happily providing a fig leaf for what it truly is. The press, which is the information arm of the democrat party will breathlessly report its proceedings and its findings. A large number of Americans will see through the smoke and mirrors—I hope.

The Republicans will never elect another movement Conservative.

Like Donald Trump, Newt Gingrich started actually keeping his campaign promises so they had to get rid of him.

The only thing the rank-and-file members are interested in is how much payola the Party leader can deliver to their election funds.

McCarthy is far from ideal, but I will save my wrath for the Cheney skank and the Kensinger punk.

Eh.. not to piss you off...more, the rule to set up the show trial, by a Democrat majority vote, allowed Pelosi to veto Republicans. McCarthy could only complain about Pelosi’s abuse of power.

“Based on how the committee was created, Pelosi is able to appoint eight members to the commission and McCarthy has five slots “in consultation” with Pelosi — meaning the speaker had the option to veto his selections.”

I don’t think you understand how the rules work. McCarthy has no power to seat Republicans. You’d be better off spending your effort getting rid of Cheney and Kinzinger who jumped sides.

"2022 will resign a bunch of republicans as well as any hope of having a majority ever again."

Dry your tears. How would that be any different than when Republicans have the majority only to surrender anyway? even if it ended up just the same as now we would have the satisfaction of denying the lying, weak, and faithless GOP leadership the fantastic, wealthy lifestyle that holding national public office provides these grifters.

We must not forget that McCarthy was the handpicked protégé of super-RINO Paul "Eddie Munster" Ryan. McCarthy is a clone of Paul Ryan sporting the trademarked Paul Ryan false veneer of "conservatism".

He needs to check with his roommate Frank Luntz before he does anything controversial.

We had the House, Senate, and Presidency - and they wanted to investigate Trump for three years and they lost the House, amid their Investigations, in the mid-terms.

I would ammend that. They didn't lose the house, they threw that election. They knew that the optics of them blocking Trump on everything were terrible and giving away the whole game. So they decided to turn over the house the dems so they could let them block trump and they could pretend to be so sad about it.

So suddenly a bunch of GOP congressmen in safe district surprisingly retired and a bunch more mailed in crappy campaigns. And even with all that the predicted Blue Wave was more like a blue spritzing.

I think when I would note my strong opinion that the GOP intentionally lost that election many here thought I went too far there. Now after watching 2020 play out it doesn't see so far fetched any more does it?

How about we voters actually WORK to put Republicans in the majority next year.

Were you around in 2017?

How’d that work out?

Well, McCarthy lives with (not so) closeted Leftist Frank Luntz, so why are we surprised?

Thank you for that analysis. I think you are correct.

If McCarthy were minority leader, Pelosi would have been able to NO Republicans but those he wanted. The Democrats do this as easily as breathing. If GOP members go around him, he is not leader.

There is a lot that Kevin McCarthy could be doing but isn't. He could remove Cheney and Kinzinger from the Republican caucus and all committee positions. That would effectively in their careers in the republican party but he fails to do it. He has got to go.
