UPDATE: Goya Foods CEO Robert Unanue refuses to apologize after drawing intense criticism and calls for a boycott against his company for praising President Trump on Thursday.
We were part of a commission called the White House Hispanic Prosperity Initiative and they called on us to be there to see how we could help opportunities within the economic and educational realm for prosperity among Hispanics and among the United States, Unanue said on Fox & Friends on Friday.
Unanue said the backlash his visit to the White House and praise of Trump triggered is a suppression of speech.
He pointed out that he has visited the White House before, for an event hosted by the Obama administration for Hispanic Heritage Month.

Bought 10 chickpeas Goya...
I haven't tried that but I put Adobo on everything from scrambled eggs to soup and meats.
Just a note. Goya's owner is not Hispanic but from Spanish origin - from Europe.
Not from Latin-America.
He is Spanish-American. Not Hispanic.
I like the black beans, but the pink beans are quickly becoming my favorite. I am a great fan of Bush pintos, but I’m going to try Goya pintos next. They even have those in the 28 oz (+/-) size at my HEB.
I college I would drain a can of tuna and add it to the beans and I add adobo to everything. (See my plug for Goya on this thread.) Kept me belly happy.
Goya Sazon seasoning is delicious. I hardly ever cook beef, pork, or chicken without a Sazon packet. I restocked my pantry today and made a point of choosing Goya.
Chick-fil-A has since gone over to the dark side.
Their products are usually in a separate section, like the beans are not in the bean section, but they usually have their own section separately.
The founder’s ahole son wants white people to shine the shoes of negroes.
Screw that, and screw Chick-fil-A!
Got to make sure I go in the Spanish food aisle next time I go shopping.
The Surrender Countdown starts now.
If you go to Walmart, Goya products are usually near the rice section
Just went on weekly shopping trip and was sure to purchase $40 worth of Goya foods. Looks like Im adding a little spice in my life.
Goya Foods products will be getting special attention when I’m shopping from now on.
I’ve never really liked Goya products but I’ll give them another try just to support a business CEO that’s standing up to the mob.
GOYA bags of split peas are great for pea soup after the Easter Ham.
We’ll probably load up on some of their products this weekend, too.
Maybe it’ll turn out that their profits will increase like My Pillow. Every time the RATs boycott My Pillow, his sales skyrocket.
I have a dream. A linkup or gallows on the Washington Mall with lying politicians, social media execs, and news media types in a mass execution for treason.
Thank you for that number. I called and spoke to a lovely woman named Shannon in Consumer Affairs. She was happy to take my comment and promised to pass it along to headquarters.
I explained that I’m not Hispanic and haven’t purchased a lot of their food but I was going to make a purchase today and will continue to do so as a way to support the honor and courage of the CEO.
She said that she has been receiving calls all day, I had to wait about 5 minutes to speak to her, and not all of them have been supportive.
I have never called a company before to do that but I’m so glad I did today and I will continue to do so when someone stands up to the rage mob.
We can no longer be the silent majority.
