Sen. John McCain
(R-Ariz.) said he regrets choosing former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin (R) to be his running mate during the 2008 presidential campaign.
The New York Times reported on Saturday that McCain, while still defending Palins performance, said in his upcoming book The Restless Wave that he wishes he had instead selected former Sen. Joseph Lieberman (I-Conn.)
His advisers reportedly had warned against choosing Lieberman, who was once a Democrat, stating that Liebermans support of abortion rights could divide Republicans.
It was sound advice that I could reason for myself, he writes. But my gut told me to ignore it and I wish I had.
In a new HBO documentary, McCain goes on to say that not choosing Lieberman was another mistake" that he made in his political career.
Lieberman told The Times that he didnt know McCain felt that way.
It touched me greatly, he said of the film.
The Times reported that Lieberman recently visited McCain, 81, at his ranch in Arizona where the senator is recovering from his brain cancer treatment and surgery for an infection.
Recently released excerpts from McCains upcoming memoir indicate that he doesnt know how much time he has left to live while battling the glioblastoma he was diagnosed with last year.
Although the memoir isnt entirely political, McCain still takes swings at Trump.
McCain writes that the president seems to care more about the appearance of toughness than American values, chiding Trump's coziness with Russian President Vladimir Putin, in particular.
The Restless Wave: Good Times, Just Causes, Great Fights, and other Appreciations. will be released May 22.
Good ole Juan McStain, he is the only Democrat I have ever voted for.
Someone should point out to the good senator that if he had not chosen Sarah Palin, he would have lost in a landslide rather than a mini-tsunami.
Trump writes that McCain seems to care more about the appearance of toughness than American values, chiding McCain’s coziness with ISIS, in particular.
Hard to conceive of a stronger endorsement of Governor Palin.
What McCain doesn’t say is that he was tricked out of picking Lieberman for a BiPartisan ticked by Karl Rove and Rove’s leaking to that dying reporter he always leaked to (can see his face but can’t recall his name) as Rush Limbaugh started to discuss in August of 2008.
Rove made a deal with McCain in 2004, when a Kerry/McCain Bipartisan ticket polled way past CheneyBush...
Rove gave McCain his right hand man Steve Schmidt as part of the 2004 promise that McCain should run in 2008. This is why McCain called Schmidt right after the 2006 mid terms.
When RoveBush Lame Duck White House balked at Lieberman/McCain in 08, McCain weirdly caved... and then just picked Palin because she had 90 percent favorables in Alaska.
Her instant popularity foreshadowed Trump’s 2016 win, and took McCain and Rove by surprise at the lame duck Bush White House.
Rove was already walking back on Palin by the first week of September.
By September 11th, 2008 some wondered about the origins of the strange financial meltdown that day because it undercut McCain and Palin’s campaign based on THE SURGE IS WORKING IN IRAQ.
When lame duck Bush helped candidate Obama during the economic meltdown, but would not help McCain Palin, you knew the fix was in. The BushRove Elites could not and would not countenance a true conservative Christian in the Executive Branch like Palin.
Then they sabotaged her, from within, with the former Bushies on McCain’s staff, Rove’s helper Steve Schmidt and Jeb’s and W’s former staffer Nicolle Wallace.
While they attacked Palin FROM WITHIN McCain’s camp, McCain did NOTHING.
He is a traitor.
His behavior makes me question his POW status, just like all the other POWs had only TERRIBLE things to say about McCain.
Unlike Pelosi, McCain can explain being addled.
He would have lost in an even more epic failure.
He is now jut confirming what an awful person, a traitor to his party, he is. For all to see, now no one can deny it. His own words.
John McCain, will you please STFU?!
The more this ass**** reveals his true thoughts as he approaches the end the more he reveals what a despicable s***bird he truly was, even more than most people could have imagined. The invitation he extended to Hussein to give his eulogy shows him to be a demented scumbag, beyond the pale.
Why Sept 15 2008?
I would have stayed home and NOT voted, had lord McCain picked the loser Lieberman.
She was too good for you John you snake.
McCain is angry because Trump wiped out McCain’s beloved ISIS.
I don’t know how you can call Lieberman a RINO he was/is a Democrat. Algore’s running mate too.
Raise your hand who voted for McCain without Palin on the ticket.
*crickets*
Dunn be in nice about this asshat.
Feel free to croak STAT...
Indeed!
After GW fn up the economy, no Republican had a chance for the WH.
It was the left wing media that helped this dirtbag win the nomination. They kept telling people that only McCain could win in a general election. That was until McCain won the nomination. They knew then they had a sure loser.
Also, if not for open primary states, the clown wouldn’t have been nominated either.
It was the media and democrats that led to the nomination of McLame.
