Former Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton says in her new book that Donald Trump made her skin crawl by stalking her around the stage in a campaign debate and she wonders if she should have told him to "back up, you creep".
In audio excerpts of the book What Happened aired on MSNBC, Mrs Clinton described her 2016 campaign as "joyful, humbling, infuriating and just plain baffling" and acknowledged she failed her millions of supporters by losing to Trump in the November election.
In the excerpts, Mrs Clinton described the 9 October debate in St Louis in which Mr Trump followed her closely about the stage, lurking behind her as she fielded questions from a live television audience. The debate came two days after an audiotape emerged in which Mr Trump was heard bragging about groping women.
"This is not OK, I thought," Mrs Clinton said. "It was the second presidential debate and Donald Trump was looming behind me.
"We were on a small stage and no matter where I walked, he followed me closely, staring at me, making faces. It was incredibly uncomfortable. He was literally breathing down my neck. My skin crawled.
"It was one of those moments where you wish you could hit pause and ask everyone watching: 'Well, what would you do?' Do you stay calm, keep smiling and carry on as if he weren't repeatedly invading your space? Or do you turn, look him in the eye and say loudly and clearly: 'Back up, you creep. Get away from me. I know you love to intimidate women but you can't intimidate me.'"
Mrs Clinton said she chose the first option.
"I kept my cool, aided by a lifetime of dealing with difficult men trying to throw me off," she said.
But she questioned whether she should have chosen the second option.
"It certainly would have been better TV," she said. "Maybe I have over-learned the lesson of staying calm, biting my tongue, digging my fingernails into a clenched fist, smiling all the while, determined to present a composed face to the world."
Mrs Clinton said writing the book, due to be released in the coming weeks, "wasn't easy".
"Every day that I was a candidate for president, I knew that millions of people were counting on me and I couldn't bear the idea of letting them down. But I did," she said. "I couldn't get the job done."
Hillary is still trying to be relevant and failing
Trump just wanted to see if he could get a glimpse of her real lizard skin beneath the shape-shifting human exterior.
That’s what I love about Hillary - she is so believable.
Yet another whine about losing? That bitch just can’t stop playing the blame game...
Is this the 3rd or 4th book Hillary has written since the election, trying to explain how she lost?
And how does that compare to the feeling of being married to a serial rapists for decades?
She did the same exact thing when she ran against that guy from New York when he walked over to her. She said he invaded her “personal space” and played the sex card. As a woman in politics, I detest that. You can’t have it both ways. If you want to be the President of the US, someone breathing down your neck should not phase you. God, we dodged a bullet on that one.
Creep Hillary Clinton made my skin crawl everywhere she went.
Except that it is not true. She is trying to recycle the attack she had on her former senate opponent.
She is one sick woman.
...Says the professional rapist enabler.
The wording does sound authentic however in the sense that it does ring true as the odious voice of Hillary.
Women are a protected democrat victim group after all - and classified information isn't... It's like they're all brain dead...
Monica called Bubba “a big creep”.
Irony is thick here;so is her hypocrisy.
Hillary made America’s skin crawl. That’s why she lost.
But her husband getting oral pleasure from a 20 year old intern in the White House was just fine by her.
She just keeps giving and giving...................
Mostly that's Syphilis and Oxycodone doing that.
