On the list of surprising visitors calling on president-elect Donald Trump last week, Senator Ted Cruz of Texas ranks right up there with alleged Secretary of State candidate Mitt Romney.
While Romney who called Trump a phony and talked openly about derailing his candidacy during the campaign had an actual job attached to the meeting with his former nemesis on Saturday, Cruzs visit was billed as more of a drop-by.
Its true that after the name-calling between Cruz and Trump (who tagged him Lyin Ted) during the primary campaign; after Trumps derogatory comments about Cruzs wife; after Trumps suggestion that Cruzs father had a role in the JFK assassination; and after Cruz neglected to endorse Trump at the Republican National convention, they did in the end come together. In September, Cruz finally endorsed Trump and campaigned for him....

Cruz again?
lol...
Cruz could accept an appointment to the court, served 8-12 years and still be young enough to run again for the republican nomination for President.
Not born Citizen....no way. Go back to Canada, or Cuba.
Cruz is a Senator...period...got it???
Why would anyone want to do that? An SC justice nowadays has more power than the President, a lifetime term, a lighter workload, and no accountability. Seems like that would be a demotion to me.
Sure beats having Hillary, who is now considered white as snow by the Trump campaign
I think Cruz is brilliant, young, and Hispanic. He’d give libs hell for decades on the SCOTUS.
I’m for this choice.
What Cruz did at the convention was unforgivable.
His mother was a citizen, so he’s a citizen from birth. Besides, there are no citizenship requirements for Supreme Court justices.
What’s your opinion?
NBC required for SCOTUS?
That that was just POTUS...
Truth be told, it would be more than irritating to see the most weasly, smarmy and dishonest detractors of Trump, namely Cruz and Romney, rewarded with highest jobs in the administration.
This seems... wrong. Very wrong on many levels.
Trump seems to have forgiven him.
While I like the idea, there is no way Cruz can get 60 votes to be confirmed. While a good majority of the GOPe would vote to confirm just to get ride of him, it would never be enough to get to sixty with all the dems in opposition.
Senator Cruz understands and reveres Our Constitution. I believe he is now being, and should be continue to be considered for a Justice appointment to the SCOTUS.
Y’all are entitled to my opinion ~~~
:^)
Trump doesn’t do affirmative action appointments. If he picks Cruz, it’s because he deems him a good fit and defender of the constitution. Would be a long shot though since he wasn’t on the original list.
After Harry Reid only 50 are needed.
In Texas we have a solid Governor who would appoint another solid Conservative to the Senate. In other words, we could give up a Senator and not loose a Senator.
Some of the other names mentioned are from states where we would likely get a bad trade in the deal!
Disagree.
Trump realizes the ‘optics’ and he also knows Justice Thomas was approved after a big confirmation battle by... playing the race card. When he said “high tech lynching” he’d shut the Dems up and was confirmed.
Cruz is also from a safe R state (Texas) and is a potential threat in 2020 for interparty fighting.
All good reasons to move him to SCOTUS.
