On the list of surprising visitors calling on president-elect Donald Trump last week, Senator Ted Cruz of Texas ranks right up there with alleged Secretary of State candidate Mitt Romney.
While Romney who called Trump a “phony” and talked openly about derailing his candidacy during the campaign had an actual job attached to the meeting with his former nemesis on Saturday, Cruz’s visit was billed as more of a drop-by.
It’s true that after the name-calling between Cruz and Trump (who tagged him “Lyin’ Ted’) during the primary campaign; after Trump’s derogatory comments about Cruz’s wife; after Trump’s suggestion that Cruz’s father had a role in the JFK assassination; and after Cruz neglected to endorse Trump at the Republican National convention, they did in the end come together. In September, Cruz finally endorsed Trump and campaigned for him....

I just asked a question. I have no idea how it will play out. But I do believe in the rule if law, and that no one should be above it. As you know Trump will be under pressure to let it go, under political expediency. Hope he doesn’t.
If Cruz had had a few honest supporters, it would have been better all around. So far, I’ve only found one Cruz supporter with any objectivity:

Yes, How could I ever trust him to be a strict constructionist when he conveniently ignored Article II, Section 1, Clause 5?
Cruz cannot be trusted. You shouldn’t give an untrustworthy, disloyal person a position he will have for life when impeachment is the only recourse for any untrustworthy, disloyal act he may commit. Better for Cruz to get a position from which he can be fired. Untrustworthiness and disloyalty, plus the fact that he claims to be an expert on the Constitution but can’t figure out that a Canadian Cuban cannot be a natural born citizen, disqualify him. Cruz ripped up any chance he had for SCOTUS with his own two hands. Donald Trump is a very shrewd man. I believe he fully understands the situation.
