On the list of surprising visitors calling on president-elect Donald Trump last week, Senator Ted Cruz of Texas ranks right up there with alleged Secretary of State candidate Mitt Romney.

While Romney who called Trump a “phony” and talked openly about derailing his candidacy during the campaign had an actual job attached to the meeting with his former nemesis on Saturday, Cruz’s visit was billed as more of a drop-by.

It’s true that after the name-calling between Cruz and Trump (who tagged him “Lyin’ Ted’) during the primary campaign; after Trump’s derogatory comments about Cruz’s wife; after Trump’s suggestion that Cruz’s father had a role in the JFK assassination; and after Cruz neglected to endorse Trump at the Republican National convention, they did in the end come together. In September, Cruz finally endorsed Trump and campaigned for him....

Really? That was it? I heard that about Trump long before Cruz used it. It was in the realm of common knowledge. Trump even fed it by implying that he got the best politicians money could buy. Ok, that is strange to me. Those were not new accusations, just unanswered ones.

A lot of common knowledge things are false. They are like generalizations. Like Trump’s locker room talk, he also Implied he bought politicians. I have no idea if it is true or bravado. But it left unanswered questions. These sort of things come out in campaigns.

Cruz would be great as a SC justice as far as I am concerned. However he has enemies all over the place. Not sure the RINOs in Congress would go along. I just don’t see Trump spending political capital on Cruz.

There is another reason, for both Sessions and Cruz. They come from Republican states, so Republicans would be chosen to replace them.

Importantly, the balance of the senate is so important right now, that President Trump may consider nominating a *Democrat* senator, from a Republican state, for a lesser cabinet post, so that he will be replaced by a Republican.

Yet one more reason to nominate Cruz is that the Democrats would throw everything they’ve got against him. And if he was still confirmed, maybe by a nuclear option simple majority vote, it would break the Democrats ability to resist.

Because there will be many, many more judges and even justices to confirm in the future.

But I can wait & let justice take its course not jump up and down like a kid asking for a lollypop. I also have no interest in helping the press back Trump into a corner or letting them create distrus between Trump and the American people, not that he would let them anyway.
