When talking about abortion, Democratic politicians and activists usually prefer to speak euphemistically: The dismemberment or lethal poisoning of a baby who hasn't been born yet is almost always referred to as "reproductive health care" or "a woman's choice." The group NARAL, once known as the National Abortion Rights Action League, went so far as to change its name to NARAL Pro-Choice America so its supporters and allies could avoid saying the a-word.
But there's been a growing push on the left to not only defend abortion as a necessary evil that should be "safe, legal, and rare" but to celebrate it as a positive good. (See the #ShoutYourAbortion Twitter campaign of 2015.) And so on Wednesday evening, Ilyse Hogue, president of NARAL Pro-Choice America, took the stage at the Democratic National Convention and told the story of the time she aborted her first child because it was an inconvenient time to become a parent.
"To succeed in life, all we need are the tools, the trust, and the chance to chart our own path," Hogue said during her DNC speech. "I was fortunate enough to have these things when I found out I was pregnant years ago. I wanted a family, but it was the wrong time. I made the decision that was best for meto have an abortion and get compassionate care at a clinic in my own community." At this point, applause and cheers could be heard in the crowd. "Now years later, my husband and I are parents to two incredible children," Hogue continued.
Prior to Hogue's speech, the 2016 Democratic convention was already shaping up to be the most pro-abortion political convention ever. The Democratic platform was changed this year to call for the repeal of the Hyde amendment in order to provide unlimited taxpayer-funding of elective abortions for Medicaid recipients. Cecile Richards of Planned Parenthood made the case for that policy in her speech Tuesday night.
And Hillary Clinton's running mate Tim Kaine flip-flopped on the issue of taxpayer-funded abortion at some point in just the last few weeks as he joined the Democratic ticket. That's something Joe Biden, a supporter of the Hyde amendment, never had to do to become Obama's running mate in 2008.
The worst ones aren’t the partial birth ones. Those are done to preserve all the little organs so Planned Parenthood can get a good price for them.
The worst ones are the D&Es, which are perfectly legal as opposed to the partial birth abortions, which have been illegal since 2003.

I think he/she is calling attention to the fact that a disproportionate number of abortions are performed on black children.
Perhaps he/she is saying that since the mothers of police “targets” don’t give enough of a damn to raise their children well, it may have been better for the world if they had been a little more callous and done what pregnant black women usually do, which is abort their child. After all, child abuse via negligence and child abuse via unborn murder are both child abuse.
Ilyse, how much did you get for their liver?
Wasn’t Molech actually mentioned in the hacked DNC emails? Didn’t one of them say they were going to sacrifice to Molech?
He/she probably thought he/she was joking.
God is not amused.
I wonder if the children she allowed to live suffer from survivor’s guilt (a real thing) knowing their brother or sister was intentionally killed because he/she was inconvenient?
Really; I couldn’t imagine that it doesn’t mess with their heads...
A fornication society requires cheap and easy abortion. Our society proudly celebrates fornication. The celebration of abortion is just catching up.
They never seem to finish the phrase “women’s right to choose” with the truthful “to kill her unborn children”.
Thank God for http://www.rachelsvineyard.org/
Thank you for your encouraging words. I remember when I heard my father say, “when I was your age . . .” I am now 20 years removed from high school and I would argue that the changes from my high school time to now have been far more destructive and drastic than when he approached my current age.
When I was in high school, no one would admit that they were gay. Very few (Maybe 3) had one earring. None of them had tattoos. The main drug was marijuana. Children and teenagers on my street played outside until after dark.
Now weed has been replaced by heroin my region. Kids are addicted to their cell phones and social media. Many of them already have tattoos and piercing all over their bodies. Our country is in a state of perpetual war. Kids for the first generation in many are not better off than their parents.
I could go on. I pray that we fight off this evil that has been forced on us due to 3-4 consecutive terrible presidents and the congress. Between, terrorism, illegal migration, abortion and high debt, we have a tough task ahead. If Hillary wins, it will be lights out and the only thing someone like me can do is lay low.
I am so encouraged by your words. We have a chance with Trump. We have no chance with hillary the unindicted criminal. ZERO!! I know that as a hard rock conservative born of Barry Goldwater days— that I will not always agree with Trump. Most of the time it is a good thing. On Big stuff, I love the guy. Do this for me. Press on . Press on.
