Trump Is Collapsing in Wisconsin: And that’s really bad for his delegate math
Slate ^ | March 30, 2016 | Jim Newell

Posted on 03/30/2016 11:52:47 PM PDT by 2ndDivisionVet

The April 5 Republican primary in Wisconsin is looking less like a toss-up between Donald Trump and Sen. Ted Cruz and more like a probable win for Cruz. This would be a fairly grave problem for Trump in his effort to reach 1,237 delegates ahead of the convention. Further, a new Wisconsin poll from a well-respected outfit shows horrific favorability ratings for Trump in the state among all voters, mirroring his recent national downturn. If he can’t reach enough delegates ahead of the convention, and his support shows signs of erosion in the final contests—all while his overall favorability rating dives from pretty terrible to comically toxic—it’s going to be that much harder for him to convince delegates to stick with him in Cleveland.

The just-released Marquette Law School poll for March finds Cruz at 40 percent in the state, with Trump at 30 percent and John Kasich at 21 percent. Trump’s 30 percent is actually stable from the February version of the poll … when there were three more candidates still in the race. Cruz’s support, meanwhile, has shot up 21 points in a month, while Kasich’s has increased 13. The once dearly held theory of the Trump ceiling—that his support would never exceed one-third of the primary electorate and thus would not grow even once the field had consolidated—has been shattered in some states. If this poll holds, though, the theory appears to apply to Wisconsin....

Was America “over” when Gerald Ford beat Ronald Reagan for the nomination at the 1976 convention?

Was the country being over run my illegals in 1976?

If we do not secure our borders and deport those here illegally we will not have a country. It is really that simple. Vote for Trump or hand the country over to the anti-American globalists that wish to create a socialist utopia. Your choice.

BWT a socialist utopia is only a utopia the 1%, the rest of us are slaves/serfs. In fact serfs in the middle ages were probably better off then we will be under a globalist oligarchy. Just image North America as one big Mexico.

“If not, there will be a second ballot, and Cruz will win.”
There is zero chance Cruz will get the nomination. A vote for Cruz is a vote for Hillary.

Prior to Trump winning 12 delegates from MO, he only needed 9 from Wis to be on track to win the nomination. Wis is important but not necessary for Trump in that if he wins it it puts Cruz away as nothing more then a spoiler.

If Cruz does win Wis the only effect is it will drag out the primary longer. he still will not win the nomination even if he does win.

Thats the math. anything else is just anti-Trump propaganda from the Establishment.

Are you seriously making a comparison between the America of 1976? (forty years ago) and now?

Are you serious? We have lost our manufacturing base to a massive communist country, which does not likewise even allow Americans to own anything there.

We are now DEEPLY in debt. China is now leading us by some measures globally, we have a massive illegal immigration situation which BOTH PARTIES ARE COMPLETELY in favor of, and our entire establishment is apparently run by a huge coordinated gang who will do anything but bring back America’s future.

Yet you are actually saying, there is some sort of similarity, with the situation FORTY YEARS AGO?

You can’t be.

Just saw on CNN: A reporter intro a story and discussion of Trump's abortion comments from yesterday. In less than 30 seconds, this guy was able to mention:

1. Campaign manager's arrest
2. Attacks on Heidi Cruz
3. Declining polls numbers in WI (where he's losing by 10% or worse(?))
4. Trump's horrible polling numbers with women

CNN, Fox News, the entire liberal media, and both parties are completely opposed to Donald Trump.

Which says to me, he is completely right.

Go Donald. :D

If the GOPe succeeds in getting rid of Trump, watch how quickly the evidence of Cruz's infidelity gets "discovered", making him "unelectable".

Frankly, I think the Cruz folks could be a little more supportive of Trump. After all, if it wasn't for Trump, we'd probably be looking at Jeb Bush as the nominee.

The GOPe would have taken Cruz out long ago.

what are the first 5 things that you think he is going to do to make America safe and prosperous? I’m honestly curious.

1) Build the wall.

2) End obummer care and the epa and, via closing of every agency rule that he can and pressing congress for legislation to sign.

3) Put Iran on notice that we will inspect every suspect location or face the consequence.

4) Withhold every federal dime from every sanctuary city until they abandon that policy.

5) Begin deportation of illegals, starting with those that have additional criminal records.

Ozaukeemom, you don’t have to believe or imagine anything about Trump. He has already selected 6 focus issues and posted position statements about them on his website, www.donaldjtrump.com. It appears he will have common-sense, pro-America policies.

I love the fact that he is a businessman, not another lawyer. Much of the mess we are in is because our entire political class is mostly lawyers, who are making rules that affect the economy without having any experience in any economic endeavor. We need more businessmen and fewer lawyers.

I believe this same poll also shows Bernie pulling away from Hillary!, but no one seems too interested in that development.

We might say the Reagan years were the only uptick of the past 40 plus years. It was not so good then with the end of Vietnam, Nixon impeachment, Roe v Wade and other things. Reagan got the economy going and took on and defeated the Soviet Union. He brought us together on these 2 things and made it possible to succeed and have peace. Otherwise, the social issues moved more leftward, the Supreme court was Borked, and Constitutional government was watered down. The slide since then is akin to the frog in the pot. The temperature now is pretty high and we don’t even know it. We can’t even get out of the pot if we wanted to. We are being further Balkanized culturally and there are less people every day who remember this country and its original ideals. In short, it will be much more difficult to turn the tide than it was in 1976 or 80.

Thank you.

Who knew that wanting America 1st and openly declaring patriotism is anathema?

It’s how I grew up.

The people who were all around me had won WWII, been in the Holocaust, won Korea, and survived the Great Depression of the 30s. They were masters of the universe-unabashedly American. Their steel, grit, and sheer determination is still to be admired.

I see some of that in Trump. I also see things that aren’t perfect. I WANT an a* h* in the WH...long time since we’ve had one-an American one, anyway.

We have to make our own stuff. We have to have a border. We have to have some common values. We have to yank back the carving up of the United States of America into pieces owned by other countries and globalists.

So, thank you.

Slate, Huffpo, National Review, Townhall, Salon, Washington Post, New York Times and on and on and on......when did all these places become bastions of Republican Resurgence.....

Aw, that happens every time. They will change their tune the moment the Republicans nominate their candidate and they suddenly realize that we need another 4-Year Plan to give socialism another chance to Make America Broke Again.
