BREAKING: Romney’s campaign finance accounts reactivated for 2016 race
Christian News ^ | March 3, 2016

Posted on 03/06/2016 6:04:43 PM PST by 2ndDivisionVet

New information is surfacing about Mitt Romney and his 2016 plans following the 2012 presidential candidate's nationally-covered speech on Thursday morning.

The former Mass. Governor and Republican nominee for President spoke out against Donald Trump, calling the Republican front-runner a "phony" and "fraud." He urged Republicans to unite behind another candidate, yet declined to indicate which candidate he would be supporting.

An in-depth look at Romney's campaign finance activity, however, shows that the former candidate may be gearing up to take another shot at the White House.

In late January and early February of 2016, Romney's campaign finance entities, which by law are subject to FEC regulations, were both reactivated with amended campaign statements.

FEC records indicate that Romney's former campaign committee, Romney for President, and Romney's affiliated PAC, Romney Victory Fund, were both reactivated earlier this year, making them legally able to solicit donations and organize for his presidential campaign.

The above FEC documents can be found on the FEC websites here and here.

The Christian Times Newspaper spoke with several campaign finance professionals and campaign finance attorneys to further understand this move.

One told us that Romney "would only be making these changes" if he in fact "was going to run for President in 2016."

Another, a former McCain finance staffer indicated that this evidence shows "without a doubt" that Romney has plans to run as a Republican this year.

In the days and weeks following Romney's Trump-bashing, it will be interesting to see whether or not the 2012 candidate makes any further moves to run in 2016.

Then Trump needs to know it is okay to encourage it.

Money speaks and Trump would show that he is just the messenger and while he wanted to self fund, this is bigger than him and is going for the will of the people his supporters. Trump will not be seen as negative if he does this. Quite the opposite. It would shut a lot of people up who are using that fact that he is self funding against him.

That is the thing no one talks about, THAT is what his opponents are using against him behind the scenes and Trump needs to be the strong negotiator for the American People and tell everyone to donate. Not for him, and no money will go to his employees, but he realizes he needs to implement a strong ground game and get ads on the radio and his supporters want him to take their money.

PERIOD

If he wasn’t a lawyer & hadn’t voted with the GOPe on a few things in the Senate...but he did.

If he is the nominee I will vote for him over any RAT. I won’t trust him but I can’t ever vote for a RAT.

Have a nice evening. Peace :)

You are attacking a good man.
Shame on you.

Who? Cruz. He’s currently parroting Romney’s viscous smears on Trump. Not very conservative at all, IMO.

Post 249. As I said, hardly worth getting the vapors over. Trump shouldn’t have pretended he didn’t know who Duke was.

Cruz was saying these things before Romney opened his yap.

it's a campaign. He's competing with Trump for the nomination.

Duh.

Not if Cruz would stop messing around and join Trump. Together even Mionion and the GOPe can’t beat them. WAKE UP TED! You’re being played!

Yep. These are historic times. With Romney poised to orchestrate a brokered convention this is Cruz’s Horatius at the bridge moment. Let’s see who Cruz stands with. Trump or Romney. I’m afraid we already know the answer to that question.

Sure, your just fine if cruz pulls the race card. Heck, I bet ol sharpton was even blushing when he heard cruz suggest Trump was a racist. I doubt you'll be so gleeful about it when it gets pulled on cruz, and it will get pulled on cruz.

Ok, a tweet from Cruz saying “you’re better than this” when Trump pretended not to know who David Duke was. Big deal.
I won’t install the yahoo app so I don’t know what that report said. Maybe you can paraphrase.

No it wasn’t a tweet. I heard him say on tv that Trump never denounced...probably CNN.

Cruz has done nothing untypical to a political campaign. Trump repeated a smear reportedly from Sen. Coburn that he knew was false but you don’t hear Cruz supporters still whining about it.

I’m not sure that enough people outside the Beltway really understand what goes on here. The right side of the Uniparty will probably lose everything if Trump gets the R nomination and then wins the Presidency. Whereas if Hillary wins, they still have something. There has to be an “opposition” party in some form to maintain the gravy train for all the incumbents whether they are in charge or not. They are running a big scam against the American people, most of whom they know will only vote R or D. A 3rd party run by Trump is a long shot.

DC is a Politician-Donor Complex. The donors feed both sides of the aisle and are basically apolitical. There are now billions maybe trillions at stake with issues like TPP and amnesty on the table. This cold, dead hands type battle we are engaged in.
