Trump said he would host his own Iowa town hall to raise money for veterans and let other networks cover it. One clear sign of the gravity of tonight's development is the sense of confusion that is swirling throughout Fox. The network is split between Kelly's allies like Brit Hume and conservative anchors that are furious that Kelly - who graces the cover of Vanity Fair this month - has become the face of the network. An anchor fumed that Kelly hosted Michael Moore on her program tonight and the lefty filmmaker defended her against Trump. "That would be like Rachel Maddow laughing along with Charles Koch as he trashed Hillary Clinton!" the anchor said. One producer speculated that Fox could go "National Review" on Trump and start attacking him...
No matter how loudly GOP candidates complained about Fox's loutish politics in private, none risked taking Ailes on in public for fear of losing access to this crucial constituency - until Trump, that is. Even if Trump's boycott backfires, he's already achieved a historic victory: Exploding the myth that a Republican candidate can't openly challenge Fox.

The back story here. The other part that I WOULD LOVE TO SEE is the swarmy, wimpy, metrosexual with the ‘journalism’ degree that sent out the tweet saying that there was a conspiracy in Trump’s mind between Fox, Iran, and Saudi Arabia to rig the debate.
No doubt he and his immigrant-worshipping buddies were TOTALLY YUCKING IT UP and high-fiving each other for ‘teaching Trump a lesson’.
...and now with Trump gone, so goes $20 Million in profit for the network. One wonders how employable they’ll be at other media outlets.
Excellent post 52
You forgot (or never knew) how Reagan reacted to Gorbachev in their first scheduled meeting in Iceland.
Some people go along to get alone. And some people are billionaires. I’m with the billionaire.
“... claiming the natural born citizen controversy was required the parents of a natural born citizen to also be natural born citizens.”
Cruz prefaced that comment with something like “some even say that...”. I guess to point out how goofy they all are.
Oops - found it. From the Jan. 15th debate:
Cruz:
“If an American missionary has a child abroad, that child is a natural-born citizen. That’s why George Romney, Mitt’s dad, was eligible to run for president, even though he was born in Mexico.
At the end of the day, the legal issue is quite straightforward, but I would note that the birther theories that Donald has been relying on â some of the more extreme ones insist that you must not only be born on U.S. soil, but have two parents born on U.S. soil.
Under that theory, not only would I be disqualified, Marco Rubio would be disqualified, Bobby Jindal would be disqualified and, interestingly enough, Donald J. Trump would be disqualified.”
Here is the whole first debate. Name one candidate that got an opening softball question from FOX... just one please. They all were gotcha questions.

Same has added one more George Wills. = Mutt
Who could be BUTT?
I think a level playing field is one thing, but why debate if youre the leader, and the moderator is out to make you look bad? I think you go with you gut. Its a win win for Trump.
I say the idea of a town hall is some obscure place in Iowa is great.
I believe this is all a lead-up, on Trummps part, for a big Weekend Surprise that will set the stage for a Trump Landslide on Tuesday.
Yeb?
Rubio got in 11 rapid rapid fire attacks on Cruz at the last debate. As amusing as that was, I won’t be watching the debate with Trump out of it. I hope he stays out. Fox, if you are reading this, you totally suck disgusting! I stopped watching Fox long before this too! Boycott Fox News!
Trump’s debate boycott is brilliant.
My rant since these debates started becoming a media/reality show circus has been; there is no reason to remain subject to it. Why are the republicans (establishment) DOING this (continuing to participate)??
I repeat, this is a brilliant move that shows leadership.
Obediently going on Fox because one is “supposed” to is the move of a follower, particularly when there are compelling reasons NOT to allow the media and others to shape the candidate’s image and message and the very process puts the candidate into defense mode.
Trump will not put himself in a potential one down defensive position and anticipating this and making an end run around it before hand is fabulous strategy.
This is about control - who controls - Trump or Fox, and it should NOT be Fox (or any of the media) running the show.
Trump understands this.
Applause Applause.
That was my first thought but then thought of killary and her wide berth
Maybe Jeb could be Rutt
Thanks. It’s been a long day, and I needed that.
Thank you.
Actually, Rubio did a great job of tearing Cruz apart in the last debate. Let Cruz talk in his smarmy courtroom tone for whoever is going to watch and even less people will like him.
“...particularly when there are compelling reasons NOT to allow the media and others to shape the candidateâs image and message...”
That is correct, and I have noticed that Trump detractors, and especially Cruz, are spinning it as “Trump is afraid of a girl”.
“Obediently going on Fox”
Yes, and going on Fox after the snarky press release would require him to “submissively” go on Fox.
“Just curious....why watch the debate now?”
To hear serious policy discussions without the attention-craving drama queen blathering about where he is in the polls that day or whining about how he’s being “disrespected.” It’ll be a significant step up.
Thank you
People complain that Republican candidates don’t stand up to the media then, when one does, they lose their minds.
(Where’s that meme photo of the Joker?)
That’s a riot.
