Republican presidential candidate Ted Cruz sought on Tuesday to link his rival Donald Trump to Democrat Hillary Clinton, saying it would make her supporters happy if the real estate mogul were to win the Republican nomination.
Trump had cited constitutional law professor Laurence Tribe in arguing that because Cruz, the U.S. senator from Texas, was born in Canada, he might not be eligible to be U.S. president.
"It is more than a little strange to see Donald relying on as authoritative a liberal left-wing judicial activist Harvard law professor who is a huge Hillary supporter," Cruz told reporters after a rally at a gun range in New Hampshire.
He said in the last couple of presidential elections, Democrats were able to run against the Republican of their choice, leading to two victories for President Barack Obama.
"It starts to make you think, gosh, why are Hillary's strongest supporters backing Donald Trump?" Cruz said.

How about some names?
Tribe did not say he was backing Trump. If anything Tribe, who was Ted's professor at Harvard, said Ted was eligible, but the matter was not settled by a court. Which is true.
Who else who is strongly supporting Hillary has backed Trump? After all, the plural sense was used here.
” Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee”
Yes, unlike the NRSC which TED CRUZ RAN for a while, who gives big bucks to Cruz and runs a scam on Trump supporters to STEAL $$$$ from them by selling counterfeit Trump gear and keeping the money to give to......CRUZ!

Do you not get it yet? BOTH sides of the isle are corrupt. THAT is what Trump is trying to tell you, but seems a few prefer it that way.
Did you listen to Rush today, he said that the media is praising Trump like they did when McCain ran - how the the Left loves and promotes the guy they see as “growing” in his philosophy, ideology (moving toward their way of thinking).
But Trump has always been in line with the Left’s way of thinking.
Dubya’s solicitor general was a liberal?
Now that's impressive. I believe he's the first of the bunch...
Eh?
Do you see any flaws in Trump?
I take back every good thing I’ve ever said about Cruz.
Cruz is facing an uphill battle right now with his ‘birther’ which was not brought on originally by Trump, but a media reporter asking Trump a question, to which he replied: ‘I don't know, I just don't know, but if there is a question, he should take care of it now because the Democrat Party will’....but go ahead and blame Trump for this...
As far as the Clintons, Trump donated to Bill's campaign, Hillary's campaign, Bushes campaign, Cruz's campaign (as senate run) and many, many others, that's how you do business in the world of business....
Cruz has never had to run a ‘business’ nor has he had to hire people, contract people, work with people to get permits for the types of jobs that Trump has made his living from....Cruz is only a ‘politician’ and that's all he's been other than a ‘lawyer’ who can change words around here and there...
Trump supporters have been fending off attacks from every candidate running, and now it's Cruz's turn to fend them off, and this is called ‘politics’....like it or leave it...
The biggest, dirtiest, foulest, filthiest ‘Mafia’ in the United States today is not the Italian Mafia, it's the United States Government...
GO CRUZ!!!
“Howie mentioned Hillary saying that Trump was more a Democrat than Republican.”
Swell. You and Cruz taking Hillary Clinton’s word. just...wow...
Guess the 200+ comments on your precious thread weren’t enough. You had to repost. Typical response by Ted. Actually, it’s very Clintonesque. I see Ted is a little worried. That will happen when the last 3 polls out of Iowa show you losing and you’ve been doubled up nationally and in NH....must be tough when you’ve invested everything into one state.
A bloody dog fight is imminent and that warms the cockles of my heart.
Trump is also citing the governor of IA. I think Cruz is eligible, but it’s dishonest for Cruz to say it’s “settled law”. He knows it’s never been ruled on, so he’s throwing up Tribe’s politics as a smoke screen. It is an issue and it won’t be resolved until SCOTUS rules on it. And they may decide not to unless Cruz is actually elected. If you support Cruz, be ready to hear about this for the next year. It won’t go away.
At least I got the date on this one right.
Looks like FReepers have a lot to say.

That’s because he’s attacking from the right.
Reading the Tribe article, as it appeared in the Boston Globe, what Tribe actually said that Cruz continually argued with him when Cruz was a student in his Con law class and that Cruz argued from a constitutional originalist position while, he, Tribe, favored the living constitution approach (the position which was advocated by the racist, eugenics believing social Darwinist Woodrow Wilson). Trump goes on in the article to say that under his living, evolving constitutional interpretation approach Cruz would be eligible but not under Cruz’ constitutional originalist viewpoint.
BTW....
Well, he was in good company.....these ‘good’ conservatives also gave $$ or their time to promote the Clinton Foundation/initiative.

Many Republican Party-affiliated individuals have attended and supported Clinton Foundation-affiliated events, including the annual Clinton Global Initiative (CGI) meetings. They include former first lady Laura Bush, Fox News founder Rupert Murdoch, former GOP presidential candidate Mitt Romney, Sen. John McCain, New Jersey Gov. Romney spoke to CGI in the middle of his 2012 presidential campaign and praised President Clinton for having “devoted himself to lifting the downtrodden around the world. One of the best things that can happen to any cause, to any people, is to have Bill Clinton as its advocate.”
McCain spoke to CGI in September 2008 during his own presidential run, and also praised its efforts, stating: “You know something about great change at the Clinton Global Initiative, because you are striving every day to bring it about. I thank each one of you for the good work you have done to relieve suffering across the earth, and to spread hope. I thank you for the even greater works that you seek to accomplish in the years to come, under the leadership of the man from Hope.”
Laura Bush appeared at CGI in 2006 and said she was “delighted to be a part of this year’s Clinton Global Initiative. Thank you for inviting me, and thank you for the terrific development work you’re doing through your foundation.”

Yes, I know you don’t like this source, neither do I, there are plenty of other sources. I’m not going to dig them all out for you.
But Cruz is an Outsider. Well, after he spent his life in elite schools and using the system to advance his law career.
