It appears that the bromance between Ted Cruz and Donald Trump is probably over for good. I mean, it was one thing to see Donald Trump openly attacking Cruz for days on end. We've seen that before, and never before had Cruz taken the bait. It appears that this method of dealing with Trump has finally reached its end in the Cruz campaign.
(CRUZ): >>>I will say that it's more than a little strange to see Donald relying on as authoritative a liberal, left-wing, judicial activist Harvard Law professor who is a huge Hillary supporter (Ed. note - Laurence Tribe). It starts to make you think, "Gosh, why are some of Hillary's strongest supporters backing Trump?" You know, the last couple of elections the Democrats have gotten the nominee they wanted to run against in the general election. It seems the Hillary folks are very eager to support Donald Trump and the attacks that are being tossed my direction.<<<
Welcome to the party, Ted Cruz. Better late than never to call Trump what he is.
I, for one, am glad that the prominent conservative personalities who have been pretending Trump is a conservative and talking about him positively to bolster their ratings, will finally have to choose between their wallet and their ideology (and credibility) in this battle between Trump and Cruz. It's been a long time coming.
What do you suppose a time-travelling Founder would do? I think he would look at us and say, "Are you people crazy, dickering over 'is he a foreigner or is he one of us?' in the middle of this mess?"
On one side is a lifelong American, clearly not a foreigner in any way, well-versed in the Constitution, not to mention law, where he reached the peak of clerking for and then arguing before the Supreme Court, and a promoter of limited government by hewing to the Constitution, for all his adult life.
And on the other side is The Donald.
WWTFD?
Actually, I think a time-traveling Founder, having been to war, suffered and seen its horror, and sacrificed almost all for this country, would say something along the lines: Words are wonderful, ideas can be heaven-sent, but it is the heart of man we must approach and change. I think they would ask, "What good is a full fledged, eloquent, written historical constitution if the people have fallen to sleep, if they have lost their heart and transposed their souls into lethargy or despair.
I think he would wage a new war to waken, inspire and move the people. then, I think, he would turn to the constitutional matters at hand.
JMHO
It is very wrong and mistaken to assume successful executives and entrepreneurs are conservatives. If you think "most" of them are, that is your own bad call. I know better because I've known a whole lotta businessfolk.
When you understand why they inserted those two distinct classes of citizenship, you understand why Ted Cruz is not a NBC regardles of the repealed 1790 NATURALIZATION act.
Cruz will lose this fight.
All I can go by is what the candidate says, either written or oral.
Cruz and Trump have very similar positions with Trump being stronger on immigration than Cruz.
Trump also does have executive experience and appears to do an excellent job surrounding himself with very capable people.
The fact that his children are also very successful speaks to me about Trump's character. Is Trump perfect? He's about as perfect as Cruz IMO.
"I say, what are you going on about, boy? You've got less than a year to get your act together. Stop dickering over what is clearly within the spirit and intent if perhaps not the letter of an old and obvious law. Start paying attention to the job you need to do: choose the best leader. You gotta pay attention, son!"
That's what I think he'd say.
I swear, comments like yours just beg for snide remarks on your screen name. But I will resist!
Starting with a statement that you did not read the relevant material is honest, it may not be the best position to start from. If you read the 179 law it does not state any thing on the subject of NBC it does state that those born to us citizen abroad is a us citizen at birth, now feel free to find wherever you may a statute that defines 3 types of citizen
Following that post ... is your tagline authentic, or does someone have a really subtle sense of humor?
It’s my tagline. George Will called Trump supporters ‘vulgarians’ and I took it from there.
Also, I am not looking for a perfect candidate. This flaw that you see in Cruz, is a minor snag compared to the MAJOR FLAWS in Trump. What you insist on painting up as "flip flops" are laughable sneezes in the face of Donald Trump's cartwheels on issues. WAKE THE HELL UP. Open your eyes and look at Trump.
Sigh I am talking about the some Act you posted that has nothing to do with this.
Of course I have read the Act from 1790. Good lord, get it through your head. Madison repealed that Act.
Subtle sense of humor. And a little sad, too.

...doesn't make a difference when part of it is a misrepresentation.
Last summer, the GOPe revealed what they really think about ‘the rest of us’.
Mechanics, soldiers, homemakers, plumbers, and factory workers are ‘the vulgarians’. Simple, uninformed, ignorant, troglodytes who need to shut up and accept the rule of their betters.
Fine. I’ll accept the moniker.
And then I’ll gleefully raid their castles to the ground.
yea— i have a lot of issues with Trump— he can spend too much energy on petty things-— he can be inarticulate with his criticisms of other candidates-— and inarticulate with criticism of other people... he makes general pronouncements, such as banning all Muslim immigrants even though he has to know in reality that policy is not practical— those are a few...
The Left wants the Republicans to nominate Trump. I realize his supporters believe he’s invincible. They’ll hear and see no criticisms of his past or his present and are True Believers in the future he prophesizes. For the Left, Trump is the caricature of a conservative they’ve always wanted. He’s a man whose conservative values do not get imposed on himself; he doesn’t practice what he preaches. He’s gloats about buying politicians. The fact that he is a part of the same hypocrisy as their candidate won’t matter a whit to them. They don’t want a real outsider, like Cruz, who really believes all of our principles. Give them a man with no filter who thinks being polite is a being PC. That’s what they want.
