If you had to vote in your state primary/caucus today, knowing what you know now about the various declared and probable candidates, who would you vote for? Why? Who would you like to see as the running mate for your preferred candidate? If you could help staff your candidates cabinet and other top appointments, who would you choose? If you could recommend different congressional leaders than we have now, who would they be? And who would you like to see on the Supreme Court and why? And finally, feel free to donate to Free Republic.
I wonder if the term “unsupported assertion” is truly understood by those who use it?
Seems to me that the five million more votes Obama got than Romney is pretty compelling.
Does anybody truly believe Cruz can shift any of those five million to his column?
Your chart was ... what can I say... you tried.
I was leaning to Trump because I thought he could win in the general ... perhaps a little easier than Cruz.
Family is visiting us here this week and I got an eye-opener when two educated, fairly conservative women almost gagged when I mentioned Trump.
They literally can’t stand him.
So just a tiny personal thing but they were so emphatic I just wondered if this is a more widespread sentiment among somewhat non-political types who are voters.
LOL...
These days, who knows?
Have a good one...
the strategy is to get a rino stooge elected.
Sadly, you’re so right.
saw it 30 times. Never knew the conversation started with “you’re a pistol” :)
learn something new every day.
And I hardly ever "jest".
Lets look at some hard cold facts......
At the last count, Trump has garnered about 25% of the black vote, which may be higher now. Cruz? WHO KNOWS, but it sure isn't that large.
Trump is attracting a large percent of disaffected ( actually conservative-ish ) Dems, but there is NO sign that Cruz is doing so.
Trump is also attracting a lot of Indies and people who have NEVER voted before. Is Cruz?
Trump holds MASSIVE rallies, without a rock band, hip hop/rap so-called singer, nor does he give away anything.
Cruz doesn't hold massive rallies.
Trump is far ahead in almost all polls ( state and national ) and unless something of great profundity happens, I don't see that changing.
A large portion of Cruz supporters, here, spend vast amounts of time going on Trump threads and attempting to shred him, insult and impugn those who support him, but the reverse is not so. Ergo....yes, many Cruz supporters are emotional and do not post using logic.
Frankly, I think it's the other way round.
Without a compelling political ideology, it seems voters go for the "prettiest" candidate: defined as the one they "enjoy" most.
Trump has that one locked up like no one, ever.
OTOH, there ARE Conservatives in N.Y. state who are actively working to get Trump to be the nominee and yes, the president, even in blue state N.Y. !
If your post isn't emotional and irrational, I don't know what is and no I didn't listen to the song, nor do I know it.
Who are they for and what state do they live in ?
fart proudly
Certainly not. No one does. Experience at predicting makes one more open to other possibilities, not less so. I have stated my opinion above that while my considered prediction is that Trump is the only candidate (as of this writing) who can win against Hillary or Bernie, I also firmly stated that every freeper should be willing to vote for any Republican against the Democrats in this particular race.
This race must be about winning the race; it's not about our personal preferences if they result in losing this race. We are out of time to play around and hope it turns out better next time. If we lose this one, there most likely will not be a next time for anything at all resembling our Constitutional republic.
I’m trying to think of a “celebrity” candidate that lost their first election and drawing a blank.
Thoughts?
The ten million die-hard purist conservatives who stayed home rather than vote for Romney -- thus handing the election to Obama -- apparently believed it.
that would rock.
As in most things, personal anecdotes are not statistics. There is no substitute for actually doing the research on a candidate instead of relying on the emotions of friends.
