Montel Williams: I understand Trump’s popularity
TheHill ^ | December 09, 2015 | By Mark Hensch

Posted on 12/11/2015 9:46:25 PM PST by entropy12

Television personality Montel Williams said Wednesday that it would be insanity to bet against Donald Trump winning the GOP’s presidential nomination in 2016.

If anybody doesn’t think he’s going to get the nomination, you’re crazy, he said on MSNBC’s Morning Joe.

Williams said pundits keep predicting that Trump will flame out despite his soaring poll numbers, and they've so far been wrong.

So we can keep playing like in a couple months this is going to change, he added. It’s not.

He’s galvanized a group of people who ... don’t have college degrees [and] they normally don’t vote. What happens when they all turn up?

Montel is articulate and clean...and he doesn't scare the liberal white folks. That's why he was put on TV.

Partially it’s saying we’re stupid and partially it’s saying that union workers are supporting him. That’s the important part, in my mind.

Your mom was a wise woman.

My mom used to tell me, "You can't rationalize the actions of irrational people."

Aren't moms great? :-)

I am really disgusted by these snarky references to ‘no college degrees.’ Everyone in my immediate family has at least one degree and everyone is for Trump. Trump has stripped the veneer off these loser snobs.

Hey, Montel. Better to appear a fool than to actually reveal yourself as one on national TV.

My wife and I both have college degrees and were officers in the military. You know, the not-so-bright ones out there in the country who support Trump and who don't go on TV telling the world how stupid we are, like you do.

How do idiots like this get air time? And why?

I watched this. To be fair, Joe pushed back with anecdotes about his brother traveling around the country and meeting all kinds of people with college degrees eager to support Trump. All the other swells around the table poo pooed the idea of Trump attracting smart people like them.

But , hey, since when have the DNC auxiliaries in the MSM ever let facts get in the way of a good narrative?

Education and military service

Williams enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps upon graduating high school in 1974. He completed Boot Camp at Marine Corps Recruit Depot Parris Island, South Carolina, where he was promoted to platoon guide. After boot camp, he was sent to the Desert Warfare Training Center at Marine Corps Air Ground Combat Center Twentynine Palms, near Palm Springs, California, where he placed in the Naval Academy Preparatory School (NAPS) at Naval Station Newport, Rhode Island. He completed the one-year NAPS course and was accepted to the four-year officer training program at the U.S. Naval Academy as part of the Class of 1980.

He arrived at Annapolis on July 6, 1976, and was honorably discharged as a corporal (E-4) from the Marines, and enlisted into the Navy as a midshipman. Williams graduated from Annapolis in 1980 with a degree in general engineering and a minor in international security affairs. Upon his graduation, he became the first African American enlisted Marine to complete and graduate both the Naval Academy Prep School and Annapolis.

Commissioned as an ensign (O-1) in the Restricted Line, he completed Naval Cryptologic Officer training. Williams spent the following year and a half in Guam as a cryptologic officer for naval intelligence, where he served at sea and ashore. In 1982, he was transferred to the Defense Language Institute in Monterey, California, where he studied the Russian language for one year.

After three years aboard submarines, Williams, now a Lieutenant (O-3), was made supervising cryptologic officer with the Naval Security Fleet Support Division at Fort Meade, Maryland. It was while counseling his crew that he discovered a gift for public speaking. In 1988, he began conducting informal counseling for the wives and families of the servicemen in his command. He was later asked to speak to a local group of kids in Kansas City, Missouri, about the importance of leadership and how to overcome obstacles on the road to success—thus beginning a three-year career in motivational speaking.

He left the Regular Navy at the rank of Lieutenant Commander,

Bachelor of Music. Yes, a BM, which is about what it’s worth. Made Dean’s List, was invited to join MENSA more than once. I don’t have any problem with Montel, and Trump and/or Cruz is fine with me.

I was at NAPS with Montel in 1975 and subsequently USNA. Not a bad guy, media whore yes. Always loved attention, MASSIVE EGO. At homecomings he brings a harem of large breasted 20 year olds - we love homecomings at USNA.

Anybody who chooses to learn a trade and start working when they’re 18, instead of borrowing money to spend 4-7 years of their youth on Marxism, weed, and skanks, ain’t stupid.

Is “don’t have college degrees” just a back handed way of saying they are stupid?Similar to making the connection that most who only denigrate candidates and never seem to have anything positive to say, don't donate to any candidate and also neglect to donate to FR - they are a lot of big mouths that spout ideals that they do not practice...

Not 100% relevant but surely 90% or so accurate.

Now for a short public service announcement to all on FR:
We need to ensure we don't get another Obama-like America Hater as the next President.
The best way to ensure that is to actively support a candidate as the next President.
I prefer Cruz and my money goes to his campaign, hence the Cruz link. If you like someone else, donate to him/her (find your own link to do it) and if you use FR and don't donate, then please don't complain about the welfare leeches or those who have Obama Phones because, functionally, you are no different than any other FReeloader

PS - If you are one of those who cannot afford even a small donation to FR or a candidate, God Bless and happy FReeping!.....

GO CRUZ!! Keep it up Trump!!

Donate to FR

Donate to Cruz

Donate to FR

I was wondering recently what people with biology degrees get jobs in. I know 2 and both work outside of the biology field.

What’s with the commie libs and college degrees? Many of them are just garbage. Nothing more than tuition receipts. Nothing that will help you get a job.

Lol! I was thinking in terms of a degree in snobbery or indoctrination. But a tuition receipt. I like that.

I understand that completely. Many high IQ people do not end up with a college degree for various reasons. You are in good company. Some of the greatest scientists and inventors never finished college.
