One day after a report that Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) questioned Donald Trump's "judgement" in a private event, Trump called out Cruz for criticizing him behind close doors but refraining from negative comments in public.
Looks like @tedcruz is getting ready to attack. I am leading by so much he must. I hope so, he will fall like all others. Will be easy!
.@tedcruz should not make statements behind closed doors to his bosses, he should bring them out into the open - more fun that way!
Cruz has so far refrained from bashing Trump in public. After Trump announced his proposal to ban Muslims from coming to the United States, Cruz disagreed but stopped short of condemning Trump's remarks.
But the Texas senator spoke about Trump and Ben Carson during a Manhattan fundraiser on Wednesday, according to the New York Times.
"Who am I comfortable having their finger on the button? Now thatâs a question of strength, but itâs also a question of judgment. And I think that is a question that is a challenging question for both of them," Cruz said of Trump and Carson.
Cruz has started gaining on Trump in the key primary state of Iowa, which may be making Trump uneasy. The real estate mogul has a habit of attacking his Republican rivals when they rise in the polls, as both the New York Times and the Wall Street Journal noted this week. Trump may have released his proposal to ban Muslims from entering the country in an attempt to boost his support with evangelical voters in Iowa.
Your thesis is so convoluted with consperiosity I cannot wrap my head around it. Try breaking your thoughts down in small bites for those of us with short linear minds.
Yeah...the Cruz campaign tried to go that route yesterday, before the audio clip was made public.
Lets see what Ted says about it this weekend after he's had time to formulate a response.
I personally like Cruz about as much as Trump.
But starting off — I think it’s fine to support Trump because he’s a leader, he understands high finance budgeting, he’s a time-tested and highly effective delegator, he’s mentally tough enough to squash bad advice from highly educated advisors, and he understands better than any other candidate what kind of a danger our open borders mindset is.
But ...
Your claims about Cruz ...
I’m willing to accept informed input.
“The fact remains that no matter what Cruz people say, he is controlled by monied interests, same as Bush, Rubio, and Carson.”
The info to back your claim is kind of weak — you point out that Cruz never actually achieves anything. But he did lead opposition that thwarted comprehensive immigration. That had to tick off the Establishment, right? He’s also held a banner for the Tea Party.
Without Cruz, I don’t think we would be rallying under Trump right now. All opposition to the Establishment would have eroded, and patriots like Rush might have decided to give up and move overseas.
TRUMP OR BUST
And the poll showing him losing to Cruz by 5% in Iowa.
Cruz is waYYYYYYYYY to disciplined to be baited by Trump.
Iowa Evangelicals only became a power in the last two cycles when Gov. Terry Branstad had stepped away from politics, leaving the GOP establishment leaderless.
For all the publicity, Iowa’s Evangelicals were outsmarted by Ron Paul supporters, which brought a return of the more mainstream Iowa GOP for this cycle. But now that mainstream has become more conservative.
There was a story the other day that some of Hillary’s emails indicated her plan to blame repubs/right wing extremist for the Benghazi attack.
Obama has never talked to Carter because he didn’t want to be compared to Carter so there is no way possible he would turn his reelection convention over to praising Carter and he would be compared to Carter without a reason.
Straight from OBL himself, the media, meaning the news, is 90% of the preparation for the battle.
When you orchestrate the news before an attack you then spin of the news after the attack, and Hillary’s email tells us the spin was supposed to be blame it on “right wing extremist”
Every voter should ask himself that question if he is doing his due diligence.
I am more comfortable with Ted. Donald doesn't appear to be as emotionally stable or intelligent."
Absolutely right.
My husband and I watched the video of Trump's fairly recent Iowa speech---the one in which he endlessly railed against Carson and called Iowans stupid. Even his supporters in the audience were discomfited by his strange behavior.
My husband just shook his head and said, "Wow, there's no way that guy belongs anywhere near the White House."
Yeah, sure.
MICRO-AGGRESSIONS?
Really, LOL?
“Telling me that I sound like a liberal isnt a rebuttal.”
Not meant to a rebuttal. There was nothing to rebut but liberal derangement.
Just an accurate observation. A wake up call to you.
You share a spirit with leftists and liberals.
“For all of the butt-kissing people give to these people, they almost never pick the nominee, and dont deliver the state in November.”
You think that is the bone of contention? A Captain Obvious comment?
So Cruz is cool with Mesoamericans migrating here?
Not all religions are compatible with religious liberty. Cruz being the "smartest man in the room" should know this, Trump does.
You’re depending on church records from places like Syria that have been completely overrun by the Muslim hoard??? We can’t even find documentation to determine if these people are actually who they say they are!
“He may get into a personal pissing match with another world leader and take us into war to settle his perceived slight.”
I respect that concern. But I respect even more ‘The Art of the Deal’.
Not many people are aware how hyper-sensitive our State Department has become to foreign concerns and how much power they have over our military, including the Rules of Engagement.
The State Department is the reason why other nations roll us in international trade and why it’s so easy for foreign interersts to influence Congress. The State Department is where the action is — who gets access, such as guys like Soros. They also have tremendous influence over our treaties.
If you want to plug up foreign lobbyists, you need to shake up the State Department. They spend too much time overseas, getting gifts, being entertained, and being exposed to the problems of other countries. They feel like ‘citizens of the world’, so it’s not all about corruption. But corruption is a big part of it as well.
What makes you think he ever wanted it? The assumption of some kind of deal between the two of them was always nothing but wishful thinking. Cruz himself denied it a few months ago.
Cruz is in this to win. He wouldn't hitch himself to Trump; it would be too damaging.
Trump getting a bit shaken after all the endorsements Cruz received in Iowa.
LOL..
No, more like Trump, as promised, will hit back when attacked. Cruz knows this. Funny how Cruz didn’t make these statements in public. We’ll see how he owns up to them, now that they’ve been exposed....and Trump is hitting back.
So talking to wealthy people means you’re owned by them? LOL
yes!I’m getting ready to make a donation to his campaign. I need to confirm that he is a viable candidate in the top 3. Ted has been an ideological conservative his whole life. He is not a johny-come-lately to conservative politics. He stood alone in the Senate in an attempt to filibuster atrocious democratic bills!
Honestly, I think some of them do. Yesterday a Trump supporter was angry at Ted for not "defending" Trump.
It really does seem that some folks think Cruz should be in this race solely to prop up Trump.
I don't know why he needs propping up, if he's so unstoppable and inevitable and tough and all.
Book marking that post.
