One day after a report that Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) questioned Donald Trump's "judgement" in a private event, Trump called out Cruz for criticizing him behind close doors but refraining from negative comments in public.
Looks like @tedcruz is getting ready to attack. I am leading by so much he must. I hope so, he will fall like all others. Will be easy!
.@tedcruz should not make statements behind closed doors to his bosses, he should bring them out into the open - more fun that way!
Cruz has so far refrained from bashing Trump in public. After Trump announced his proposal to ban Muslims from coming to the United States, Cruz disagreed but stopped short of condemning Trump's remarks.
But the Texas senator spoke about Trump and Ben Carson during a Manhattan fundraiser on Wednesday, according to the New York Times.
"Who am I comfortable having their finger on the button? Now thatâs a question of strength, but itâs also a question of judgment. And I think that is a question that is a challenging question for both of them," Cruz said of Trump and Carson.
Cruz has started gaining on Trump in the key primary state of Iowa, which may be making Trump uneasy. The real estate mogul has a habit of attacking his Republican rivals when they rise in the polls, as both the New York Times and the Wall Street Journal noted this week. Trump may have released his proposal to ban Muslims from entering the country in an attempt to boost his support with evangelical voters in Iowa.
I’d be happy w/ Trump or Cruz and I’d be thrilled if they were on the ticket together.
Based on history and what I know about these guys - this was planned by Cruz and anticipated by Trump.
Interesting primary!
Of course he’s going to say he’d be a better commander-in-chief, better crisis responder, better trigger holder. He’s GOT to say he’s better at all those things. He’d get away with saying that Carson is a better surgeon and Trump is a better real estate developer, and Bush is a better silver-spoon crybaby, but he’d always put himself forward in those critical areas of military, economy, crisis.
Otherwise, why not just quit and acknowledge the other guy is a better candidate?
Just a side note.
I was thinking all of this is quite interesting that this audio was released very close to the next debate.
>> Cruz said nothing that anyone should take offense <<
Trump will very cleverly “take offense” at anything and everything, whenever doing so will generate headlines and give him hours of free TV coverage. Nothing to see here. Move along.
And as Trump has made his bed with that nut Hillary (Wedding) and campaign contributions to rats like Reid and Rangel, that's as far as he goes.
God bless you and all the others who care so much about the USA!
FRegards ....
I’m looking at the legislation being presented. Cruz is a huge advocate for religious liberty. He is not going to have a policy that singles out a group of people based on their religion. The same thing can be accomplished by focusing on the issue as a terrorist threat. That is where Cruz and Paul have been focused.
When you have more than 50 percent of Muslims being okay with Shariah law, you ought to be looking at religion.
He can promote himself without being arrogant and condescending. That statement was smarmy.
Uhhh... that would be taking the bait. :/
Islam is not a real religion, it is a political movement and a murderous cult.
I
Yeah, it might have been a mischevious ‘journalist’ fresh from some poison-ivy league indoctrination camp. Or some jaded old timer leftist.
Conservatives like Cruz need to remember that the Left and the Establishment will go to any lengths to breed discord and to undermine them.
I would think also that Christians would have churches with records to back them up in most cases.
You are full of it.
The only reason Perot gained traction is Bush “read my lips, no new taxes”
allowed him to gain traction by ignoring the wishes of millions of GOP
voters.

Cruz made a pretty innocuous statement and Trump just had to blow it up into internicine war.
That’s quite a twist, there, Suzy. You get the honorary Twister board, with that one!
Cruz sounded foolish on the ‘hidden’ tape...’bear hugs and love’....reminded me of his teddy bear border love with Beck....or, better yet, Yebbers act of love. And, when you question another candidates judgement and viability in the race, well, them’s fightin’ words, in most folks’ book.
The fact that his statements have gone public, cannot help Cruz. I see he’s attacking Rubio, now....which is the target (between he and Trump) he should be aiming for.
Cruz makes the mildest of comments, and Trump calls it an "attack." Typical. And this from the guy who routinely hurls cheap insults against his fellow Republican candidates, even comparing one to a child molester.
So Cruz makes this mild comment, and, predictably, the Cruz-haters here, obsessed with their CDS, come out in droves.
It was a private meeting of his own supporters. I just don’t see the ‘smarminess’ of it. It sounds thoroughly strategic intent being explained to me.
I complained about his fundraising and not spending early in the cycle when I first started donating to him. I wanted a wave of ads on tv/radio, but he built organization instead and continued fund raising.
I think he was right.
I also think that he was right during that time to stay out of direct conflict with any of the other candidates. I did not think he was right at the time.
So, in light of what he’s done up to this point, and in light of Trump’s attacks, Kasich’s attacks, and the media’s attacks, this just doesn’t even strike me as an attack at all. At best it’s self-promotion.
Excellent summation... Of why I won’t be voting for Trump. Trump is answerable to no one. He doesn’t answer to God, he doesn’t appear to understand the Constitutional standard of checks and balances, and he has no reason to “answer” to voters.
I think it’s a little Glenn Beckish....or, worse, Jebbish. LOL.
