Days before a Republican presidential debate at the Ronald Reagan Library, an immigration advocacy group invoked the former president to attack the tough immigration rhetoric of certain candidates, including front-runner Donald Trump.
A television ad launched on Sunday by the National Immigration Forum Action Fund contrasts Reagan's call for the United States to welcome all people with the stances of Trump, Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker and Texas Senator Ted Cruz, who have proposed an end to birthright citizenship and urged other crackdowns.
The ad highlights Trump's demand for a wall along the U.S.-Mexican border and comments that Mexican immigrants were "bringing crime" and are "rapists."
It shows a clip from Reagan's 1989 farewell address from the White House in which he references the journey to the United States of John Winthrop, an English Puritan who imagined America as a "city upon a hill."(continued)

This stupidity is going to backfire big time.
I don’t suppose they showed Reagan being promised by the democrats they’d secure the border.
No mention of the fact that the Democrats betrayed Reagan and went back on their promise to shut down the border.
1989 was pre invasion USA.
President Reagan is not alive in 2015 with 15% ACTUAL unemployment and an economy teetering on the brink of oblivion. It’s a whole new world. This is sophomoric clown stuff aimed at the Democrats’ low information supporters.
Reagan was weak on illegal aliens and very weak after the Sunni Truck bomb killed 251 MARINES in Beirut but then maybe he was right to get out of that part of the world. Yes, He was right but illegals? real bad judgment.
We either stop the illegal alien inundation now or we become North Mexico
Good that Trump learned from Reagan’s mistake.
Facts:
1) Except in the very odd/exceptional election year of 1964, the Dems havent cracked 50% of the whites in a Presidential election since 1932.
2) Once the 64 election was over, the Dems understood that they would never win another Presidential election again unless the Republicans REALLY screwed up...or unless they changed the electorate in a dramatic way.
3) The Dems, courtesy of Bobby Kennedy who wrote the law, and Teddy Kennedy who pushed it in the Senate, passed the 1965 Immigration Act. That law dramatically reduced immigration from our then-traditional large sources of immigrants - England, Ireland, Holland, Germany, etc. - and replaced them with vast numbers of Turd Worlders...whom everyone knows vote around 80% for Dems, and will continue to do so for the rest of their lives, as new immigrants have traditionally done.
4) As a result of the 65 Act, and due to the Dems outright lying in 86 regarding an effective (or any) fence, there are now probably 30 - 40 million illegals in this nation. Note that the (probably low-ball) figure in 2005 was 11 million...we have 2-3 million come in every year, so simple math says that the number is actually somewhere between 31 and 41 million). If any substantial portion of these people ever become citizens, then the Dems will have accomplished a complete shift of the electorate, and will be virtually invincible on the national level. Every state will become like California, both politically and economically - which is to say, overwhelming Dem and broke. But at least if you dont like California now, you can leave for a better place without much trouble - where are you going to go if EVERY state is like that?
5) Every Republican, and every Conservative voter MUST UNDERSTAND that if such a state of affairs comes to be, NO OTHER ISSUE WILL MATTER AT ALL, because we will ALWAYS AND FOREVER lose on those issues. Immigration is THE issue of this election, and this election is as critical as the 1860 election was - and for the same reason, because it will determine whether this nation continues on as it has existed in the past, or becomes a new and unrecognizable entity that simply occupies the same geographic territory.
Please wake up, and help others to do so by sending them this post (or recommending Adios America to them). It really is THAT important.
Reagan figured that the border would be secured and that welfare would be curtailed.
They’re not immigrants, they’re criminal aliens.
We can learn from Reagan’s amnesty mistake.
He was told it would pardon perhaps two or three million. It ended up being around ten million - three times as many as initially promised.
He was told we’d close the border, and this would be the last amnesty. Thirty years later, still no wall. Democrats lied. Therefore, we know we can’t trust Democrats saying amnesty now, border control later.
Further proof that conservatives should never compromise. Meeting the person with a wrong idea in the middle pulls you in the wrong direction. Reagan compromised based on a promise that things would change - they did not.
Now the same people who screamed for “bi-partisanship” use the compromise against him (and us). We fail to realize that our ideas and principles were killed by a thousand cuts and now there is no longer much difference in either party.
You can never trust a snake. Reagan was a great man, but even he failed to comprehend that he was dealing with snakes.
That was then. This is now. We cannot let unlimited invaders in now. Stupid argument.
Yeah, I just saw that ad. I thought, WTH? Talk about a reach!
We need an ad that shows Teddy Kennedy in 1986 saying that there will never be another amnesty.
And another saying the 1965 Immigration Act won’t change the racial composition of America.
Low class to misabuse President Reagan.
Desperation!
