GOP presidential front-runner Donald Trump will never win the White House because he is playing to aging white voters and turning off blacks and Hispanics, U.S. Sen. John McCain said.
I dont think he could win the White House because we have to attract voters, McCain said on Herald Radios Morning Meeting show yesterday. We have an aging white population in America and a growing Hispanic and African-American population and we have to reach out to them.
McCain said the Hispanic vote, particularly in a border state such as his home state of Arizona, is especially important.
The Hispanic voter in my state is pro-life, pro-small business, (for) lower taxes, pro-military, everything I stand for and believe in, he said. You cant win by alienating all of them.
The Asian voter is also turned off, McCain added, noting the strong population of recent Asian immigrants in the U.S.
The senator has been a target of Trumps attacks during the real estate moguls campaign for the nomination. Trump said McCain is only a war hero because he was captured a comment that drew sharp backlash from supporters of the 2008 GOP nominee, who was shot down during the Vietnam War and spent five years as a prisoner in the infamous Hanoi Hilton where he was repeatedly tortured.
McCain didnt attack Trump yesterday, saying he prefers to follow the 11th Commandment set forth by former President Ronald Reagan: Thou shalt not attack a fellow Republican. He added that, as a good Republican, he will support whoever wins the nomination.
He added there are a number of reasons why Trump has a comfortable lead in nearly every poll.
Anti-incumbency frustration with Washington, a lot of it justified, he said. When you have a 12- to 14-percent approval rating of Congress, you can see why they are frustrated.
McCain joined fellow GOP U.S. Sen. Lindsey Graham at Saint Anselm College in Nashua, N.H., yesterday to honor those lost on 9/11 and to help his friend in his underdog race for the nomination.
University of Massachusetts Boston political science professor Erin OBrien said McCain is expressing the fears of the Republican party as Trump soars in the polls.
The real question is, has Trump reached the tipping point? Is this as high as he can get, OBrien said. It is ironic that McCain has gone from Straight-talk Express to expressing the institutional fears of Republicans.
Trump remained on the attack yesterday, tweeting Oh wow, lightweight Governor @Bobby Jindal, who is registered at less than 1 percent in the polls, just mocked my hair. So original! Jindal this week said Trumps hair looks like hes got a squirrel sitting on his head.
Trump also touted in a tweet that hes atop the latest poll with 27 percent of the vote in Iowa with Ben Carson next with 21 percent. The Quinnipiac University survey of those likely to attend the states Republican caucus also showed U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz was third with 9 percent.
Also yesterday, former Texas Gov. Rick Perry dropped out of the GOP race, becoming the first major candidate to end his bid for the Oval Office.
While you were so inclusive that droves of your own party refused to even vote?
The LoInfos gave us 8 years of “divisiveness” Johnny. What about that? Somebody loves politicians who are “divisive.”
The Cheap Labor Express is very worried we might actually elect someone who would shut them down.
They are using every member of The Ministry of Propaganda and all of their paid politicians to try to take Trump down.
You cannot do to our country what the GOPe has done to it for the past 4+ years when they had the power to act decisively, and not pay a HUGE political price. They can now choose to change and support the Country Class, or self-destruct.
McCain, who supports Al-Qeada/Isis in Syria.
Former president McCain said that?
Oh wait.
Is he still around?
What a clown.

Of course there are a lot of good reasons behind Trump's rise, but I submit that whether it's a result of his upbringing, or living and working for his entire life in New York City, or assessing and critiquing contestants on his television show, Donald Trump KNOWS that he is not racist, and being secure in that knowledge allows him to do a number of things that nobody else in politics seems to be able or willing to do:*.:
1. Speak the truth as he sees it without fear of being labelled a racist. Most obviously, he knows that one can simultaneously hold no particular ill-will towards people of Hispanic descent and at the same time take a "hard-line" on immigration. The Left has everyone convinced that the desire for regulated immigration is motivated by hatred for Hispanics and nothing else. Trump's obviously and loudly not buying it.
2. Trump knows that others, i.e. the base, who see the same truths that he sees are also not racist. Thus, he speaks to them with respect and appreciation, as opposed to calling them "heartless" "crazies". People naturally respond favorably.
3. Trump is able to directly confront and battle political correctness, which can be boiled down to a speaking in such as way as to avoid saying anything that could remotely be construed as racist, with violations severely policed by the outrage machine, which is of course controlled by the Left. Trump is free to speak his mind freely without fear of the outrage machine.
4. Trump is not afraid to enter the mainstream media "lion's den" where other Republicans dare not tread for fear that they will be tricked into saying something racist. Trump fearlessly confronts all sorts of mainstream media, multiple times daily.
5. Trump advocates FOR America as against its competitors and enemies. The fact that our trade and diplomatic "deals" benefit others at our expense is a feature not a failing. The elites are embarrassed about America's relative strength in the world and seek a more "equal" world. Trump is a full-throated patriot who wants America to win, even if that means other nations lose. He's far from alone in this.
6. Trump doesn't pander, which is actually patronizing to those minorities who respect themselves. Martin O'Malley apologizing for saying that "all lives matter" and Yeb Bush calling illegal entry "an act of love" might seem to make them "sensitive" to minority concerns, but it's not winning either of them any votes. Trump treats minority voters no different than other voters, and that includes telling them the truth as he sees it, even if their "leaders" don't like it. And he still expects to win their votes.
7. Trump won't be cowed by minority activists. Bernie Sanders gave over the microphone at his own rally to Black Lives Matter; Trump would've fought to hold on to it. Trump threw Jorge Ramos out of his press conference because he failed to wait his turn to ask a question. Trump will not give anyone a "pass" by virtue of their minority status; everyone has to play by the same rules.
I could go on, but I'll end here by saying that the Left and the GOPe are throwing everything they have at Trump because he is a mortal threat to one of their most important rackets: the fear of being labelled a racist.
*Note: In the interest of brevity, I'm going to just address racism here, but the point is probably equally valid as it relates to sexism and other forms of alleged bigotry such as xenophobia, homophobia, Islamophobia, etc.
So, if we want to really know how to win the election, we ask a loser?
The Trump Derangement Syndrome has set in for more than a few folks.
But love him or hate him, he has wrenched the thinking of millions of Americans, (and perhaps some billions of people around the world) out of old, stereotyped ruts in their thinking.
The Donald “can’t win” the Presidency of the US? Tell us how it may be best won, O Great & Masterful Sage John McCain.
Jealous much there, Juan??
Did McCain think McCain would win?
Your insight is spot on.
Would that we yet hanged Traitors.
McCain shoulda taken over from Letterman. He’s hysterical.
I don’t think Juan is watching TV or the polls. Hey Juan prepare for disappointment. LOL!
I want Trump to get the Presidency just so I can watch him trash talk McStain and his ilk on a daily basis. Priceless.
FUGM
As if McCain knows how to attract Presidential voters
