It's been a long-standing tradition at the Iowa State Fair, but now you can cast your kernels for presidential candidates at the Minnesota State Fair. The early front runners in the unscientific poll at the Minnesota Republican Party booth are Donald Trump, Ben Carson and Carly Fiorina.
"Anybody can stop by our booth and and cast a vote for whoever their favorite candidate is," GOP Party Chair Keith Downey said. If you make a donation or sign up to support the GOP, voters get a small cup full of corn kernels they can distribute among as many of the candidates as they want. Or they can pick just one.
"I have been really looking at Dr. Ben Carson and Donald Trump and there are others who are others who are really good," says Deb Johnson, who cast votes along with her husband. "I put in Trump because he says, he doesn't take guff from anyone. He says what he feels. He doesn't have to be politically correct," Kent Johnson said.
While Trump, Carson and Fiorina are in the lead, Rick Santorum, Lindsay Graham and George Pataki had only a few kernels each. You can cast votes through Labor Day at the GOP booth.
Trump won the recent Iowa State Fair "Corn Poll" on the Republican side while Hillary Clinton won among Democrats.
The george pataki votes were by people who thought it said george Patton.
HAH!!!
Why do we have to always have the losers in Iowa kick things off?
