It seems that Texas Republicans, like Republicans everywhere else, have caught Trump fever. Insert your favorite pathology joke here.
Donald Trump is the favored presidential candidate among Texas Republican voters, according to a poll released today by the Texas Bipartisan Justice Committee. The Houston Chronicle reported the results.
Trump leads the poll with 24 percent support. Texas Senator Ted Cruz, who had led most Texas polls up to this point, came in second with 16 percent. Neurosurgeon Ben Carson is the only other candidate to garner more than 10 percent. Former Florida Governor Jeb Bush, former Hewlett-Packard CEO Carly Fiorina and Florida Senator Marco Rubio follow close behind.
Trump has proved to be unassailable. Just one of his campaign trail transgressions could have sunk another candidate, but somehow, hes done more than just stay afloat. Like an aggressive and possibly deadly hot air balloon, he continues to ascend.
Trumps campaign missteps include:
-labelling Mexicans who cross the southern border rapists
-calling for mass deportation of illegal immigrants (including those with U.S.-born children)
-suggesting that Fox News anchor Megyn Kelly had blood coming out of her wherever
-listing his position on just a single issue on his campaign website
-making it clear he was totally joking about those "dating my daughter" comments he made back in 2006
-offering $50 to anyone willing to cheer for him at his campaign announcement
That's an impressive lifetime list for anyone. For Trump to rack up those accolades in just a few months is a monument to his abilities as some sort of rabble-rousing hair piece gremlin.
Still, the surge continues. Trump is Teflon. Thats apparently as true in Texas as anywhere else.
God help us.
“The left is in full panic mold!”
You must have seen that thread yesterday! LOL!
Notice how you cut off the quote before I mentioned legislative track record. At with real politician you know how they vote and can compare that to what they say.
The fact that he’s been saying the same thing for 4 years doesn’t really mean much. Especially when you look at what he said before that. The guy spends a lot of time in front of cameras and writing books, he changes what he says a lot. Changes his party affiliation a lot too.
If he’d been consistent in his positions over the last 30 years his lack of political record might be a plus. But the fact is the guy changes his position (and party affiliation) frequently and often. The track record he has lacks consistency, except in it’s constant change.
Nor should he. Racial pandering is a disaster. A message of American greatness appeals to everyone regardless of race, color, sex, ethnic background or religion.
All that is fine if you take him at his word, which I don’t.
Problem is I just don’t believe what he says.
He is no Reagan. They are all gone.
OK, I can possibly give him the benefit of the doubt that what he said about taking their oil is not all bluster.
By winning the election? He seems unelectable?
That’s my dear. That it is all bluster, with very few details.
This is Donald that wrote this? Shocked.
I was just implying that he always comes off to me as an “idiot” so I was surprised he has a well written well thought out plan.
I get that, for sure. But, still, I can’t tell you how enthused I am to hear the sounds of a wrecking ball coming to look up the Republican Party and a corrupt hill and play just a moment of smash mouth.
The Trump force of strength looks pretty good on our side, for a change.
There is no lock on the rest of our candidates either, regarding what they will able to actually accomplish.
None are able to occupy financially independent space but have to be swept up in the current corrupt system, beholden to the usual financial suspects, like K Street, Wall Street, Chamber of Commerce and the corrupt political, Establishment, and even the Koch Bros.
Representative government can’t survive and work that way. Trump can go in and shake the place up. The others don’t really have a prayer.
This is really Jeff Sessions plan adopted by Trump. A top CEO picks good people to help him run the organization. Trump showed excellemt judgment in seeking Sessions’ advice on this issue.
And of the other candidates that are contributed to by special interests of all stripes, who do you believe?
Cruz until he proves otherwise.
Seems like Trump was a Democrat just yesterday.
Cruz until he proves otherwise.
Michael Marks distorts everything Trump said to create a list of straw men and that knocks them down as outrageous. What’s outrageous is Michael Marks’s malicious disinformation campaign against anything and anyone conservative.
” I mean ... who doesn’t want to make America great again? who doesn’t think that illegal aliens have to go ect? “
It seems like there are an awful lot of people who don’t want to see illegal aliens ejected.
