ATLANTA -- Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.) avoided the RedState Gathering this weekend. While Republican presidential rivals like Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Tex.) and former Arkansas governor Mike Huckabee faced down questions about Donald Trump in Atlanta, Paul was touring South Carolina, holding meet-and-greets and dropping into a "Pints for Liberty" happy hour.
But in Goose Creek, S.C., Paul unloaded on Trump, recapitulating the arguments he'd made throughout Thursday night's presidential debate, saying conservatives were "kidding themselves" if they fell for Trump's brand of anti-establishment politics.
"I can't imagine Donald Trump even knowing what a tea party is," Paul said, referring to the conservative political movement. "Where is our sense? Where is our common sense? This is a guy who was pro-choice before he was pro-life. This is a guy who was liberal before he was conservative. This is a guy who was a Democrat before he was a Republican before he was a Democrat before was an independent before was a Republican again."(continued)

Not a single candidate on the stage had the balls to say anything to Trump (except for Paul at the beginning). Now they are all running around castigating him.
When Rand squeaks, the mices listen.
Cruz isn’t.
He called him a showboat today in a veiled way, but overall you are largely correct he is tamer than the others.
Poodle boy speaks!
Link?
Yeah, his father is a kook. And I suspect Rand really believes much more like his father than he is letting on.
Then again, his assessment of Trump is right on.
I won’t be supporting Rand (though I would of course vote for him if he won the GOP nomination - for that matter I would hold my nose and vote for Trump if he did the same), but I think Trump is distracting from the few real traditional conservatives in the race like Ted Cruz.
Whatever damage it might do, I think it is time for Trump to just go independent. He is likely to do it anyway, and given a year his campaign will inevitable implode. Let him do it where it doesn’t cause a distraction within the Republican party.
Their squawking because they think they are scoring points with the press, and they will give them positive coverage for it.
By doing this, these ass-hats are proving themselves to be no leaders.
I’ll say this Fox News anchor Anna Kooiman called Ted Cruz a clown a few weeks back. Some freudian slip. So you have open your eyes to see the FoxNews is not on our side. I gave them a pass for too long. After the debate the network.s credibility is up for questioning. They work for the GOP establishment.
Trump cant distract from those that were not even addressing the things he’s brought up.
When they get around to those issues, and not try to do it in a wimpish way, then Trump wont be a “distraction”.
The “showboat” comment was meant for the Gope establishment in Congress. Cruz frequently refers to them in this manner and did so again today at RedState.
The ones who attack Trump are the ones who are under the thumb of the Washington Cartel. Anyway, please pass the popcorn!
From ajc.com blog today re the Red State event (it’s in another thread too):
Cruz quick hits
Biggest applause line: I cannot wait to stand on the debate stage with Hillary Clinton. And to make clear if you vote for Hillary you are voting for Iran to have nuclear weapons.
Sharpest jab at a Republican: Are you looking for a meaningless showboat, or do you actually want leadership?
Sharpest jab at a Democrat: Im pretty sure the Democrats debate consists of Hillary and the Chipotle clerk They actually did plan to have a debate earlier. The problem was, the invitation was emailed to Hillary.
Well. I guess we know who got the memo. Have not kept up with which have jumped on the Kill Donald Express. Yeb, Marco, Huckster (I think), Linda...Who else.
Proud of Cruz for staying out of the food fight. Walker also handeled it well
I guess it is as open to interpretation as “whatver” meaning vagina, no?
Show me where I’ve ever said that Fox News is “on our side” in all the time I’ve been here. Fox is slightly right-center, CNN is left-center and MSNBC is far left. That makes Fox look conservative in comparison.
That includes Ted Cruz, so don't do it, bud.
But this is unsurprising. Rand lost his legos at Trump the very first few seconds of the debate.
How do you know that was aimed at Don Trump? Gomer Huckleberry is quite the show-boater, as is John Ellis Bush and Ron Paul, Jr.
They’ve seen previews to the latest polls. Trump must be pulling away from the losers.
