Cruz Praises Megyn Kelly, Does Not Condemn Trump
The National Review's The Corner ^ | August 8, 2015 | Alexis Levinson

Atlanta — Ted Cruz praised Megyn Kelly in a gaggle with reporters Satuday, but declined to say anything negative about Donald Trump or address the comments Trump made about Kelly.

“That was a decision for RedState to make,” Cruz said of RedState Gathering host Erick Erickson disinviting Trump from the event.

“I think every candidate should treat everyone else with civility and respect. That’s the standard I try to follow, it’s a standard I hope all of us aspire to. I also think that we’re not gonna solve the problems in this country, we’re not gonna defeat the Washington cartel by obsessing over the politics of personalities. This is about real challenges facing the American people. This is about bankrupting our kids and grandkids, defending the bill of rights, and restoring America’s leadership in the world. That’s where my focus has been and it’s where I intend to keep it.”

Asked to directly address the comments, Cruz praised Kelly, calling her “a terrific journalist.”

“I think she does a great job; I think she did a very good job moderating the debate,” he said. ”And I’m not gonna engage in the back and forth on personalities.”

And with that, Cruz shamelessly changed the subject.

“Let me give you a story that is infinitely more important than the momentary bickering between different political candidates, which is what has happened with Gen. Soleimani,” Cruz said, and continued to discourse on the subject for several minutes.

Cruz has been perhaps the most reluctant of the GOP field to criticize Donald Trump. His response to Trump’s comment that McCain was “not a war hero” was similar to his response today: Cruz praised McCain, but declined to say anything about Trump or his comment.

Cruz reached out to Trump and met with him in July. If Trump were to leave the presidential race at some point, many of supporters might choose to back Cruz. Asked Saturday if he was seeking to woo Trump’s voters, Cruz said he was seeking to win over every other candidate’s supporters.

And you think he doesn’t know that? They’ve already tried to Palinize him and he brushed them off like a clump of lint.

Don’t particularly like Kelly or Wallace but I have zero problems with tough questions. Cruz would have hit the War on Women crap out of the park. Trump struggled with it but was quite cogent on how crony capitalism works. Such is life.

I have researched it and the big money donors to the Cruz superPACs have reputations for being pro what Cruz has always stood for. The Wilks are self-made who grew up in a converted goat barn, built their own brick business which grew into trucking then fracking. The Kochs have down-to-earth donors who are mainly interested in LIBERTY and vehemently against cronyism. Can’t remember particulars about the Mercers right now, but they are all salt of the earth, decent, free-market, liberty-loving, pro-Israel, pro-religious Liberty patriots.

Praising Kelley for her bad behavior is a bad move on his part. Knocked him down a notch on my opinion meter for sure.

Obviously auditioning for serious journalism

Hey Meg if you,Rupert Murdoch and FOX respect Rosie O’Donnell and women like her so much, why don’t any of your fellow FOX network female commentators look like her?

You know. Fat. Over 40. With short dark hair.
No talent pool with those physical attributes?

Ted was bit too effusive for a woman who abandoned all journalistic principles and who would have ripped his beating heart from his chest given the chance

He needed to find the diplospeak for “Bless Her Heart”

Funny how the Bimbo Squad at Fox doesn’t see itself that way.

Smarter girls might get the gig and stifle when they have the urge to climb up on the cross and play the victim.

FR is sinking into hell.

We have one conservative candidate in Ted Cruz, and sadly a large % of fools on here continue to defend this scumbag fraud Donald Trump.

Cruz is 100% on the money as usual. The people defending Trump’s antics on here should be ashamed of themselves. Pathetic souls.

Cruz is wrong about Megyn Kelly. She is shamelessly very biased against conservative candidates/politicians. She turned the debate into something between her and Trump. That was not the purpose of the debate. She is NOT a “terrific journalist”.

Did I mention that Megyn Kelly is snarky and very rude to conservatives?

I think half the people who tune into her show do so to see her pretty face.

I won’t support a candidate who wants to bring in more low cost labor to take my job.
Period, end of story.

They have a few brunettes and by and large they are all smarter, most of then work on the Business network

But alas for average women even if they have an IQ of 140

to be on FOX they are all pretty

and skinny

No Rosie O’Donnell need not apply to host a show on FOX
Even the intelligent Greta Van Sustern had to have some work done on her face and hair when she joined FOX

You’re right, Hattie. I’m not the one who said it. I was responding to another’s statement which I could not fathom. Even though you do not know me, I can’t stand to have someone think that I would not love me some Ted Cruz.

Cruz is the man!!!!

A Miss, I thought you were a Hit !!! - at least for Barbra Streisand. Here, in my opinion, is a much greater HIT. As with rosy steps. Tragically this beautiful woman is now in a better place.

I have no use for Trump either. We already have a president who is full of himself, a narcissist one who, like Trump, includes the word “I” in almost every sentence he utters. Cruz shows he has class. Choose Cruz!

Agree...a possible coalition in the making, OR, if Trump were to leave the race down the stretch, throwing support to him. But, would all the Reagan Democrat types and other crossovers follow?

Fox screwed up the debate format, but with 17 over two “debates” it’s going to be hard to get much of a message out even with a real debate format. Hopefully this is thinned out to a manageable level (sic) soon.

He is playing it smart, and staying out of the fray. Because he is above it. Cruz knows he can rely on the Reagan conservatives to come out for him in the primaries. I await the primaries so I can vote for him.

The voting booth is the only pool that counts.

Cruz all the way.
