Trump may be setting up party for Cruz
The Sauk Valley Gazette ^ | July 31, 2015 | Richard Rowland Polo

Posted on 08/01/2015 5:34:40 AM PDT by 2ndDivisionVet

While perusing the articles and stories one can find on the computer (my wife says I spend way too much time on this thing), and the posted comments related to the articles, I came across a comment concerning Donald Trump (imagine that) and his lack of qualifications to be the next president.

A poster had commented that Republicans can’t seem to get it right in their selection of candidates; notably, with Trump in the mix.

Deciding to have a little fun with this person, I pointed out that the Democrats hadn’t done such a hot job picking a candidate in the past two elections, either. I also pointed out that the president wasn’t all that qualified in the job department when considering his prior job experience.

After all, when all you have for a job recommendation for the highest office in the land is having been a community organizer, and junior senator in one of the most corrupt and bankrupt states in the country, that isn’t saying much.

I proceeded to explain to this person that Trump’s strategy is to continue building a large lead in the polls; then, call a news conference to announce he’s withdrawing from the race.

The only reason Trump entered in the first place, he explains, was to set the tone of the dialog. He recommends his followers get behind Sen. Ted Cruz.

Sen. Cruz breezes through the Republican primaries, defeats Hillary in the general election, and is now our new United States president. Wahoo.

I don’t have any idea if you are talking to me or not, but I do believe that globalism and globalists are a threat to my country and my people, and I have said over and over that I will not vote for a globalist.

The hostility between the Arabs and the Jews engages globalists, but I don’t think it’s a principal concern of theirs - as we see with their (mostly) supportive posture towards the Iran “agreement”. If Iran used the nukes to exterminate the Jewish population of Israel, the globalists would be setting up factories in “Palestine” the very next day.

Senator Cruz is a conservative, but he also has globalistic tendencies that concern me greatly.

Trump will fade as soon as our anger, fear, and frustration at Washington politics-as-usual fades. And that’s not likely to happen.

It’s interesting to me that Trump seems to have an affinity for Cruz and an animosity toward the Bushes, including Jeb.

I’m for Ted Cruz, and I like Bobby Jindal. I’m unsure about what kind of president Trump would be. Hopefully, he would hire some good conservatives to guide his policies. Hope. There’s that word again.

I just noticed this morning that clicks on the just closed-down SarahPalinChannel.com are redirecting to the expanded https://www.sarahpac.com/home/ which now includes her SPC videos and other SPC materials for free.

The game is afoot.

If “the Donald” really wanted to be president, he would run as a democrat. The field is wide open. He could wipe the floor against Hillary and be guaranteed 47% of the electorate - another 5-8% low information “independent” and hello president Trump. Surely he has the political instincts to see that. Oprah has the same opportunity if she wants it. (It would be sweet to see Oprah say “Hillary, you are a liar” and then the audience cheers wildly).

I really don’t understand he run as a republican. He has never shown any strong conservative leanings -

Sorry, but I can’t get past feeling Trump is a Democratic plant. His role is to discredit the Republican Party as hateful, extreme, reckless, etc. Whether it is to assure Jeb is the nominee, thereby losing to Hillary, or just simply split the Republican vote a la Perot and deliver the head kleptocrat position to Hillary directly. I hope I’m wrong, but I see nothing on the horizon to suggest it yet.

I ran into Ted Cruz at something called “Second Amendment Day” at our state capitol in Austin (TX).

We had a nice conversation lasting about 20-30 minutes before his time to address the crowd.

I was very impressed with him, and IMO, he would make a great president. Of course I say this because he agreed with me on every subject we discussed—LOL! Maybe that’s what makes him a politician……..

Zero crossover appeal, eh?

Could you please tell me a candidate that would be willing to debate Code Pink and somehow keep it respectable?

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZfWF6GH0BYw

I guarantee you that because of Cruz’s efforts there were a handful of Code Pinkies that because of that debate, came away questioning some of their indoctrinated beliefs. The results may take time to see, but what Cruz actually did was plant the seeds in delivering a logical argument on why conservatives believe the way they do.

That’s what makes Cruz stands out. He’s willing to take the conservative message to all voters and take the time and energy necessary to get that message across. He wants voters to not only trust him but to understand why he believes and makes the decisions he does.

There is no other candidate that has tried this method since Reagan.

Not even Trump. People aren’t voting for Trump because he’s a conservative. Their supporting him because of anger. That’s why Trump’s candidacy is based on a lie.

Cruz has much broader appeal and for more important reasons. He knows how to bypass the media to get that message across as well.

When did Dole, any random Bush, McCain, Nelson Rockefeller, either of the Romneys or Jerry Ford ever show any “strong conservative leanings” my friend?

Or Trump runs third party and clears the way for the Clintons.

Cruz is undoubtedly going to be the best debater onstage in the technical sense.

Trumps debating skills will crush Cruz though.

Here's my take on that...the anger and frustration will not fade...but it's not at politics as usual...it's at a scary statist politics the likes we have not seen before. Moreover, in time, people will realize that Cruz has been anti Washington a lot longer than Trump has, 100% of his career as opposed to the last 25 minutes...and that Cruz has none of the big government solution reflexes that Trump has (universal health care comes to mind).

I’m sorry, I”m with Rush on this one...everything is ideological, whether people realize it or not.

the ONLY WAY.....ONLY ONLY ONLY ONLY ONLY way Republicans EVER get moderates is by persuading them - not by JOINING them. You are indeed advocating the Washington GOP consultant thinking here....only applying it to Trump while they apply it to Jeb or Romney or McCain or whoever.

Teddy Roosevelt had the same blowhard personality as Trump. So there is a precedant.

There is a TREMENDOUS FOUNDATIONAL flaw in your analogy...it is a total failure. Care to guess what it is?

Now, that doesn’t mean I think Trump’s going to be the nominee. I just think he’s gifted in a way that Cruz isn’t.

I agree with that. But Trump is liberal in a way that Cruz isn't either....and over time, my hunch is that will play itself out.

parksstp, I disagree totally with you. This site is not for those who won't disagree by using facts and logic. Candidates are going to be under a very powerful microscope here, and that's great.

There are questions about Cruz, and some come from original supporters.

FWIW, I got a call from someone who said they were from the Cruz campaign (gosh, I hope that's not true) wanting more money.

He expressed his willingness to hear me out.

I stated where I'm at now in this process. I'm not going to give any more to Cruz or and one else this primary season. We have an ideal candidate who can inspire, engage, and maybe even save the US. We should accept Trump's generous offer and use the money that would've been spent on primary campaigns to to oust EVERYONE (well, as close as possible) who has supported McConnell or Boehner. Clean up as much of the DC sewer as we can in the primaries. Then, President Trump will have a lot less garbage to deal with when he gets to DC.

I then asked "don't you think money would be better spent primarying McConnell and Boehner supporters, and having Senator Cruz there to help turn around the traitorous Senate?"

For the life of me, I can't find any flaw in my logic.

And then this money hound creature started lecturing me about Cruz being the only real conservative and how we can't trust Trump because of yadda yadda and how the Trump campaign won't last etc. I was DISGUSTED. I told the caller that I thought Senator Cruz had taken on a policy of not criticizing candidates and I'd be SHOCKED if what he was saying met with approval of the campaign.

The caller hung up on me. My question remains. Wouldn't money being spent trying to stop Trump be better spent primaryinng supporters of McConnell and Boehner?

This is long. I had to get it out here. A lot of us want to hear what Liz has to say. She's got some real good research. If any of it is an embarrassment to Cruz, so what? It's insignificant compared to what Mr. Trump has had to put up with as the puppet masters tried to squelch his campaign

grrr.......

“I told the caller that I thought Senator Cruz had taken on a policy of not criticizing candidates and I’d be SHOCKED if what he was saying met with approval of the campaign.”

Remember the early days of the Cruz campaign?

The Cruz Freepers here were so mean-spirited I finally created a tagline that said something along the lines of what you said to the caller.
