Republicans' Donald Trump problem just got worse
Vox ^ | July 27, 2015 | Jonathan Allen

Donald Trump was supposed to flame out fast. Instead, he's burning ever hotter in the first contests of the 2016 Republican presidential primary.

The real estate mogul and reality TV star has a seven-point lead over his nearest competitor in New Hampshire, and he's breathing down the neck of longtime Iowa caucuses leader Scott Walker, according to two NBC-Marist University polls released Sunday morning.

It's still very early in the 2016 campaign, and the first Republican debate on Aug. 6 in Cleveland could shake up the race, but Trump's surprising success suggests he will continue to be a significant force in the GOP primary.

why should we pay any attention to Trump-haters?

Why do you do the typical lib tactic and call anyone not FOR someone as a hater?

I think Lorianne has a common perspective .... he's a drawback in some ways, a buffoon, and I think his act has a shelf life.

But he is right on plenty of things, says what needs to be said and is a breath of fresh air when compared with the typical word parsing mealy-mouthed politically correct cowards that we're stuck with.

Did he file formal papers and financial disclosures in 2012? May be he was not ready to get out of his lucrative business empire.

In 2016 race, Trump has taken all steps necessary to stay in the race. He is also nearing age 70. People at that age have less desire to pursue money and more desire to pursue legacy. When I turned 70, my own outlook on life changed.

Do you read your own words you write? Calling someone a baffoon may not be hate, but it displays intense dislike at the very least. If I called your candidate of choice a baffoon, my guess is you will not be happy.

I have said it before, and I will say it again, I agree that Trump is by no means a perfect candidate. But until a “perfect” candidate appears on the scene, we Trump fans believe he will be most effective in changing direction of country.

It would be easy for the MSM to put a few disgruntled former (illegal) employees on camera, and the feeding frenzy would begin. Trump would go from front runner to single digits overnight.

Didn't you hear? Trump's already been ruined twice, and fallen to single digits because of his remarks about McCain and his statement that he didn't pray for forgiveness.

Scores of highly regarded pundits said that he was finished. Those predictions did come about, right?

Trump spent 25 years stroking liberal politicians in order to keep them from putting road blocks in his way. It’s the New York way.

He’s now belting them in the teeth with brass knuckles. No more kissy kissy.

Is there anything more delightful to watch?

Nonsense. It means he comes off as a self-promoting clown at times. One doesn't have to have any emotion invested at all to see that.

This is absolutely the most fun presidential campaign since I became a political junkie in the 1990’s.

Who do you suppose does the maintenance on all those greens and fairways? How about all those hotels he has, who changes the sheets? Don't know, but I can guess.

My guess would be subcontractors.

Trump is an entertainer, first and foremost. His act is the brash, no BS, NYC icon.

I remember the NYC central park ice skating rink. He told everyone to get the hell out of his way, and let his company fix the rink, free of charge, after years of inept attempts by the city.

It was affecting his business.

The Mayor was smart enough to get out of his way and get the rink operational again.

This act, the swagger and no bullshit approach, this is what he sells. America buys it.

America is sick of two faced weasels selling us out, who can’t show a lousy Birth certificate on day one, let alone three years later. The same clown is now pushing man to man anal sex in his home country.

People know we have an Islamic jackass in the oval office. Trump is the only candidate, impolite enough, to call him a jackass.

Truth is like water. People need to hear it.

Trump’s emergence says more about the sorry state of the GOP than it does about Trump.

Please say who is your candidate of choice!

I don't have one yet, as the election is over a year away. I like some things about some of them, nothing about Huckabee. The electorate has been so dumbed down that they now don't want a statesman or a leader nearly as much as they want someone "cool" who gives them stuff. Politicians of today and in the past have written the laws that benefit them with no punishments and I honestly don't believe any pol is immune from that once he gets into office. Doesn't matter what they say to get elected. Once they are in they will enrich themselves, take more of our rights and grow government.

People still think it's Republicans versus Democrats. What it really is is the ruling class versus the people. And it all profoundly depresses me. :(

the Trump culture it is all about winning and performance

Completely alien to government’s culture, miles apart. Once Trump becomes president the first order of business should be a monumental shakeup of the entire executive branch of government.

Nothing is going to change until that happens.

True. No GOP leader had the balls to even call Hussein by his name.

When you give up truth to placate a minority group, a group that is hell bent on destroying the USA, you give up any right to leading the USA.

Do not get depressed. That will not accomplish anything. I am optimistic of the future. I have lived through 15% inflation and malaise during Carter years. But Carter gave us Reagan. Obama will give us a much better president next time. People wake up only after a disaster. If things were good, Hillary would be a shoe in in 2016. All the top GOP contenders for 2016 look like a huge improvement over Obama.
