Donald Trump finally said something that shook the Republican establishment out of its self-induced stupor over his presidential candidacy. Hes a war hero because he was captured, the loudmouth from New York said about Sen. John McCain, Vietnam War veteran and prisoner of war, at a GOP cattle call in Iowa on Saturday. I like people that werent captured.
Thats rich coming from a billionaire who received five deferments from military service during the Vietnam War. Meanwhile, McCain, who refused early release, was held captive and tortured in a North Vietnam prison for five-and-a-half years. Anyone who aspires to be commander-in-chief of the armed forces ought to know better than to disparage the service of anyone who has ever donned the uniform.
The condemnation was swift from most of his competitors. Although Sen. Ted Cruz (Tex.) was typically craven with his defense of McCain and his refusal to criticize Trump. The political play here is easy to discern. While Trump is soaring in the polls, Cruz knows hell be in the race longer than The Donald. And he hopes or expects Trumps followers to see him as the natural heir for their support....

Perhaps Mr. Capehart is not familiar with Sharyl Attkisson. Certainly, the Washington Post have heard of her.

I’m tired of hearing the repeated talking point about how he refused early release. We now know the commander is the one who nixed that.
I haven’t heard that. I heard McCain himself say he dropped to 100 lbs. There is so much conflicting information about this, it’s hard to get the facts.
Here is what I posted earlier regarding the Journal attack:
An exchange of insults--like pre-adolescent confrontations on a playground--is not an issue for anyone really serious about an American future, to get upset over. That the Journal would seek to focus attention on that exchange--and draw moral conclusions from that exchange, antagonistic to those who have the sense not to comment on that exchange--is to take journalistic absurdity into the clouds of really confused analysis.
Let me suggest that the Journal focus on something that concerns the U.S. Military, that is 1,000 times as important as Trump returning John McCain's insult, with one of his own. What is that?
In recent weeks and months there have been repeated threats from America haters, against our military personnel & their families. Yet the Administration still has Marines & others, serving as potential targets in "gun free zones." Does anyone reading this not believe that that is the sort of outrage that the Journal ought to be concerned with--not an exchange of insults?
Will anyone defend the mental priorities of the Journal staff, in this situation? They, not Senator Cruz, who has a sense of proportion, need to be the butt of condemnation & ridicule.
The "That's Racist" kid all grown up?
The problem with that is she doesn’t address his preference for those who were not captured.
