Pataki sends letter to other GOP candidates asking them to call out Trump on comments regarding illegal immigrants.
ALLENSTOWN, N.H. Presidential candidates flocked to the Granite State during the July Fourth weekend.
Former New York Gov. George Pataki and Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal attended a cookout hosted by the Merrimack County Republican Committee. The event was low-key and gave both Republican candidates the chance to talk one on one with voters.
Both candidates had something to say about recent comments from Republican challenger Donald Trump.
I am disappointed he (Trump) hasnt seen that it was a stupid and wrong comment, Pataki said. I have and I have repudiated it.
Pataki sent a letter to the other GOP candidates asking them to call Trump out for calling illegal immigrants rapists and murderers.
They may think that they can get away with letting it blow over, but its not going to work like that, Pataki said. And the next November the Democrats are going to remind people of Trumps comments and we have better have had stood up and said that this is the wrong thing.
Jindal, however, said while it is not his job to police other candidates, he agrees with Pataki.
I dont view people as members of ethnic groups or economic groups, Jindal said. This president has done too much to divide us, so obviously I disagree with his (Trump's) comments. I think we need to look at people as individuals.
Trump has not backed down from his comments despite businesses and organizations cutting ties with his brand.
I run and tell the facts, and the facts are we are being very badly hurt by Mexico, economically and at the border, Trump said. And obviously Univision is not happy about that.
Yep.
What’s a Pataki? Is that an Indian food?
While Pataki is mired at 1/2 of 1% in the polls.
I dont view people as members of ethnic groups or economic groups, Jindal said. This president has done too much to divide us, so obviously I disagree with his (Trump’s) comments. I think we need to look at people as individuals.
Problem is, people, especially those in question, sure don’t look at themselves as simply individuals. They play the identity victim card at any opportunity, especially when it involves getting bennies, or special treatment. (Not so much when it involves taking responsibility of the group.)
Well, how do you folks feel about Law and Order and the enforcement of our laws?
Jindal may be the only full bore Conservative left in the race.
Yep, process of Elimination.
Has Fiorina said anything? If not, it looks like she just moved up to Number Two.
Not meant toward you, but a question about those that agree with this action.
So you disagree with Don Trump about the lawlessness of our illegal alien guests?
Actually, to be fair, Cruz and Santorum (if you are talking about support for Trump).
Two weeks after Trump made his truthful comments, Pataki is still
flogging this horse.
The time Pataki is spending sending letters out to trash Trump,
could be spent sending letters out explaining the GOP’s immigration
stance.
They trash Trump but offer no ideas of their own, because they have
no other ideas other than amnesty.
Yes, it’s easy to forget about Santorum, Huckabee, Jindal, Pataki and Christie.
Not after those weasel comments. Jindal was handed an opportunity here to be bold and decisive. He chose to be, well, weaselly. As someone who admires the man, I am disappointed, to say the least.
Pataki can be president of the Lonely Hearts Club Republican without any band or audience.
Yeah, Jendal decided that PC was the correct choice - so goodbye!
That's not what Trump said. He said illegals were hardworking and should stay here. He made some comments designed to win over sympathy for illegals.
A real conservative would know conservative economics. Conservative economics tells us that illegals are here, because we have laws and a system that make sure they come here. The Mexican government and an alleged mythical wall could not overpower the market.
Trump's drive by comments that are in no way serious get an F from me.
Trumo wouldn't take on the policies that could solve the problem. And we won't take on the business interests (like his own) that make sure both parties support illegal immigration. So Trump earns an F on immigration. All he did is drive sympathy towards illegals.
And by the way, he said illegals should stay.
Do you agree with Trump on illegal immigration.
Mr Trump has outed Jindal as a weasel. If president Jindal will surrender to Democrats just like Boehner.

I’m disappointed that Jindal lumps these illegal foreign elements into the population of Americans that are matural born or are here legally.
Trump did not single out an American ethnic group, he drew attention to facts concerning illegal MEXICANS causing mayhem on American soil.
Yep, I just crossed Jindal off my list. And, another one bites the dust.
