Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY)s Americas Liberty Super PAC is out with a new ad attacking Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) as a Canadian who supports President Obama on domestic surveillance extensions in the Patriot Act.
The extreme-style smackdown ad features Paul as the shirtless hero of a Sunday brawl in the Senate over the NSA and the right to privacy.
Featuring a picture of Cruz with Obama and the backdrop of a Canadian flag, the ad calls the Texas Senator a capitulating Canadian who is backing Baracks bill.
Technically, the ad is not endorsed by Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY)'s campaign, but the Super PAC is endorsed by Paul and led by former campaign strategist Jesse Benton, who married into the Paul family and worked for not only Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY)s Senate campaign but also Ron Pauls 2008 presidential campaign.
A spokesperson for Cruzs campaign declined to comment on the ad, the latest hit on Cruz, who was once an ally of Rand Pauls until they both began preparing for a 2016 run for president.
The friction between the two Senators has been growing, after Cruz criticized Paul on the campaign trail for voting against the USA Freedom Act a bill that includes restrictions on the NSAs ability to collect phone records in bulk, but failed to earn support from privacy advocates...

TPA as negotiated and implemented by Hussein will be a trojan horse for unlimited immigration under the rubric of”free movement of labor. It will be a channel for moving trade through favored Democrat donating companies. Cruz knows all that. Cruz knows it should better have been delayed until there was a credible president in office. He also supported Hussein’s Iran agreement with his vote. How can a man speak so forthrightly and Constitutionally as he does and give the store away TWICE in succession? Supporting TPA for this president demonstrates either duplicity or an incredible naivete- lack of judgment. Neither is very promising for a potential president. Cruz was my man and I waved his flag ardently until those two votes. I’ll not be enthusiastic for any other candidate until very late in the game. I want to see what rocks they may each stumble against. I don’t want to be charging up the hill and find that it has turned into a cliff.
Sure it is.
Rand Paul, another Pander Punk that is jealous of Ted Cruz like Rick Perry.
Ha! the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree.
Libertarians can be petty and small. They should be going after the RINOs not Ted Cruz!!
His foolish comments is just cotton candy fodder for his most radical ardent supporters to fight on.
Ask Rand Paul why he sides with and support of Obama’s policies towards Cuba ?
Why does Rand Paul support the Castro Regime ?
Why does Rand Paul support Obama related issues and policy towards Cuba ?
Cruz explains why in a press release from just moments ago:
WASHINGTON, D.C. U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas, released the following statement regarding votes on the Iran Nuclear Review Act:
This bill was a missed opportunity. If Congress had acted to defend our constitutional authority if Congress had adopted the Cruz-Toomey amendment then we would be able to stop a bad Iran deal. Instead, the odds are now overwhelming that under these ground rules President Obama will negotiate, and Congress will acquiesce to, a terrible deal that allows Iran to acquire nuclear weapons and will endanger the lives of millions of Americans and our allies.
I voted no on cloture because we should have insisted on amendments to put real teeth in this bill. Ultimately, I voted yes on final passage because it may delay, slightly, President Obama’s ability to lift the Iran sanctions and it ensures we will have a Congressional debate on the merits of the Iran deal. I will continue to lead the fight to prevent the Islamic Republic of Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons and to protect the national security of America and our allies.
At least Cruz is honest about this bill and isn’t acting as though it were some big victory, like McConnell and Corker:
Without this bill, there is no review, Sen. Bob Corker (R-Tenn.), chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, said during the closing debate, which shut off a bid from younger conservatives to toughen the language even if meant a collapse of support for the oversight. No bill, no review.
Many wish the bill was stronger. I dont disagree with them, but this is a piece of legislation worthy of our support, McConnell said Wednesday during a floor speech. It offers the best chance we have to provide the American people and the Congress they elect with power to weigh in on a vital issue.
So who was the one person to vote against the bill?
Rand Paul Fidel Castro’s buddy.
It’s funny how the Rand Paul supporters conveinanty play coy and avoid those polices that Rand Paul supports, but hammers Ted Cruz with the little issues.
The thing I got out of the trade agreement legislation was it gave Congress more say and power of what goes on in the negotiations and a vote on trade agreements.
I don’t see nothing wrong with that.
