Scott Walker has attended gay wedding reception

NASHUA, N.H. – Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker has attended a wedding reception for a gay couple, he said Sunday, though the potential 2016 contender still believes marriage should be between a man and a woman.

“That’s certainly a personal issue. For a family member, Tonette and I and our family have already had a family member who’s had a reception. I haven’t been at a wedding,” Walker said when msnbc asked whether he would be willing to attend a gay wedding. “That’s true even though my position on marriage is still that it’s defined between a man and a woman, and I support the constitution of the state. But for someone I love, we’ve been at a reception.”

The Wisconsin state constitution had banned gay marriage until a federal judge ruled the ban unconstitutional in 2014. Wisconsin newspapers reported that Walker attended a reception for his wife’s cousin, Shelli Marquardt, shortly thereafter. After a brief period, an appeal halted gay marriages in Wisconsin — but they resumed late last year when the Supreme Court rejected the appeal.

Walker isn’t the only potential GOP candidate willing to attend such events. Florida Sen. Marco Rubio, who announced his presidential bid last week, told the cable network Fusion that he would participate.

“If there’s somebody that I love that’s in my life, I don’t necessarily have to agree with their decisions or the decisions they’ve made to continue to love them and participate in important events,” Rubio said....

I didn’t know he did this. Nevertheless - I think McCain is damaged - or something - by his time as a POW. I suppose that’s being generous.
So if McCain did this then yes, I’d consider him an enemy. I don’t like the guy anyway.

Attending a gay wedding reception is like attending the May Unicorn Convention insofar as both entertain imaginary notions.

Scott Walker is going to miss out on the Conservatives’ reception. I hope he makes it plain for all the voters soon where he really is.

I think you're right.

Can you tell me if Cruz would attend? He seemed reluctant to say.

Or for good men to keep voting for the lesser evil!

You're inferring you have a perfect candidate, please give us his name. We all want to vote for him.

In all my years I strove to vote for the lessor of the evil men.

I’ve never been to a same-sex “wedding” OR a same-sex “reception,” and I won’t vote for anyone who doesn’t see that attendance at one of these travesties is tantamount to approval. No exceptions. I’m sick of conservative politicians who can’t adopt a consistent stance on a clear moral issue like this one.

He doesn't really seem like a Conservative politician in many ways.... more like a republican politician.

Cruz is squishy on wetbackery, less so than the rest, but the reality is deport them or give them the vote.

And what are you going to do when you find out about Cruz’s downfalls? He is not perfect either.

You’ll be changing your tune once he is nominated because you know that he did not attend a gay wedding. Can you read????

Jesus ate with sinners but he never sinned with them, not even once.

Isaiah 5:20
Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil; that put darkness for light, and light for darkness; that put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter!

Curiously this kind of news consolidates the conservative votes where they belong.

If I'm being real, it's not an issue I get too worked up about. I'm pretty sure I'm in the minority on FR. It's not that I "support" it; I just don't care.

My family are all raging heterosexuals, so it probably won't come up, but I think I'd probably go if it were someone I truly cared about.

I will say that those who go on about gay weddings weakening traditional marriage... well, they should speak for themselves. My marriage, warts and all, does not depend on what kind of ceremony homosexuals hold. I'm secure that the joys we've shared, the storms we've weathered, the bond that unites us... has nothing whatsoever to do with anyone else's wedding, gay or not.

To be honest, I think gay marriage is an insignificant threat to the Republic compared to open homosexuality in the military.

The problem is that people who have a demonstrable lack of the fear of God have not an iota of inhibition about “evolving” away from the damn lies they told as a candidate. We have majorities in Congress full of such liars, for whom real conservatives pinched their noses and voted, that care not a whit about the abortion holocaust or the economic enslavement of many generations of survivors to come.

Walker remains my second choice - as if attending a reception (notice it wasn't the ceremony) makes one pro homosexual activism.

It would seem that Cruz and Walker are the two that scare the Left the most. Too bad we have some here who feel the same way (not you - just a number of "overthinkers" who dwell with us).

What do you expect from men and women who were mostly attorneys in the real world? Tell me all about the one you know who is honest?
