Peter Singleton, Iowa state co-ordinator for Organize4Palin:
(snip)
Imagine, if you will, that this is May 1944. Were all in our tents in Great Britain. Were all preparing.
Youve checked your boots. And checked your gear. Do you have your sidearm? Check. What about your rifle? Double check. How about extra ammo? Youve packed and re-packed the landing craft. The fellows in the airborne have pored over the maps of the drop zones, again and again.
And as you continue through the laundry list of things you need to do to prepare for the call to hit the beaches you notice your buddy two bunks over is just sitting there, his arms crossed tightly.
Hey pal, you call out. Arent you gonna get ready?
No, he mutters under his breath.
Why not? Everyone knows that the invasion is imminent!
Because General Eisenhower hasnt briefed me on his strategy.
What!? you reply incredulously.
When are we going? Where are we going to hit? he exclaims. What day? These are all things we need to know, and know right now. Im not going to do a thing to get ready until I hear from the General!
That scenario is preposterous when you think about it, isnt it? Because, as soldiers, they all knew they had to be ready. They did know that invading the continent was almost certain and was imminent. But they also knew that they would never be privy to the strategic planningand should not be. The less people who knew of the whens and the wherefores, the less chance there was of the information being leaked to the Germans. And then what would have happened? The Germans would have been ready and waiting on June 6, and on the beaches of Normandyand the course of the war and of human history would have been changed.
So we too must look at the election cycle metaphorically as a war.
Today, for us, it is May of 1944. We dont know when the call will come, only that its almost certainly coming and its coming soon.
So our job right now is to prepare for that call so that when the announcement comes we are ready to go. Were are prepared and ready for what is to come.
That the General hasnt filled us in on her strategy is no surprise. Secrecy and message discipline is vital in any campaign be it a campaign for war or a campaign for office. This is could not be more important in this, potentially the most important election in American history.
So the question I throw out there to all Palin supporters is this
Are you ready to storm the beaches?
Your concern is duly noted, Carl. Thank you for your input.
Waiting, as the saying goes in the military, “hurry up and wait”..
It’s not blindly devoted to a human being. That is a very ignorant way to see it.
She has a core value and belief system that some of us can see. She is a God-Fearing woman that can eliminate the socialist properties Obama has pushed through.
Our Nation will fall if we choose the Obama European Model and that is exactly what goes away here. It’s damn unconstitutional as well.
Point to ponder...
It has been since 1988 since Conservatives have really rallied behind and BELIEVED IN the candidate they chose to support. Have you truly forgotten what that means and is like - to genuinely support a candidate I mean.
No one here has a blind loyalty to Palin. What we have is a ‘belief’ that she’s the right person for the job and until she says otherwise, we will wholeheartedly support her.
And if she chooses to not run, we will lend our efforts to another candidate. And our enthusiastic support will be consummate with that candidate’s beliefs and how they align to our own.
Palin isn’t God and no one thinks she is, Cultish taglines aside ;)
Thanks, that goes on the political board at work
tomorrow!
Damn, Churchill was a brilliant strategist. I'll bet he'd find a real soul mate in Sarah Palin.
You're welcome. I love sharing the good stuff.
BTTT
Ready to storm the beaches and crawl through broken glass to get rid of Obama! Declare Gov. Palin and we are ready...
What? Wrong ‘P’? Might mean you are on the wrong thread. As usual.
Je répète: McGinniss à de la petite bitte.
Vraiment comme de gerbil.
Cheers!
[Voting isn’t a simple act of civic duty anymore, it’s a complex act of civil war.)
I wrote a book called “Surviving Civil War II” that goes into just how complicated it is. Not your Great Great Grandaddy’s Civil War. http://www.futurnamics.com/civilwar.php
I’ll check it out.
Excellent post Windflier. Singleton is telling us to fight smarter and to mature in our approach to political battle. Churchill saw the same thing as did Captain Jack Aubrey in "Master and Commander".
"That will test our nerve, and discipline will count just as much as courage.
In this sequence from the movie Aubrey instructs his men that in order to defeat the larger ship Archeron they must spring a trap. Disguised as an unarmed whaler they allow the Archeron to get close so they can cripple her. Successfully pulling off this trap "will test our nerve, and discipline will count just as much as courage."
It is the same as us. We need to be mature warriors in this battle and not as Aubrey also said "a sniveling midshipman, still yearning for hearth and home."
Regards, Mr. Sol.

october 1, git er done!
Thank you for posting this here. It’s pretty neat seeing my first official contribution at C4P being commented on here! :)
Checkbooks out, ready to buy signs, bumper stickers, man phones, anything else that needs to be done. We’re primed and pumped. But until Sarah tells us she’s running, there’s not much else we can do!!!
Yes Ronin, there is something else we can and should be doing and it is the most important contribution we can give to Sarah’s effort. We can use this time to PRAY for Sarah and for our country.
