With a lot of media attention, former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin visited the nations capital over the weekend to kick off a bus tour, in which she will visit various national landmarks. But some see the trip as a campaign stunt for a possible 2012 presidential campaign.
On Mondays Special Report, syndicated columnist Charles Krauthammer offered his thoughts on the bus tour, but admitted he wasnt clear on what was motivating it.
I dont know its more eccentric than usual, this event, Krauthammer said. She says she is going around to highlight the foundation of the country. I dont want to be picky but generally we say the founding of the country. I know Ill get e-mail on that.
Regardless of the motivation for the tour, Krauthammer suggested it would keep Palins brand fresh. He also noted that it would be problematic if both Minnesota Republican Rep. Michele Bachmann and Palin ran for president, citing an unscientific Fox News poll.
But does the country need reminding about the Constitution and the Gettysburg Concord, which is not in New Hampshire, its in Massachusetts? Im not sure what she is doing except to say Im with Juan [Williams]. I think if she is still here with Fox, she is not running. She is not running. What I think she is doing to trying to keep the brand vibrant. During the next 18 months when all the attention will be to other candidates, and she showed what she can do. At Rolling Thunder she came, she saw, she sucked all the oxygen out of the room. There is nobody who can do that as she can. But as we saw in the poll, it looks as if she and Bachmann would be splitting this constituency that they have. And Bachmann, you know, this is unscientific poll but she clearly can represent that position and draw as Palin does, equally well.
Later during segment, Krauthammer clarified his remarks, saying he confused a Palin gaffe with a Bachmann gaffe.
Let me just say, it was Bachmann who slipped up on Concord, not Palin, Krauthammer said. I didnt mean to imply otherwise. But Bachmann is a stronger and more organized candidate for that constituency.

“To them there is a this is the way yo do it political playbook and you are allowed to tweak it here and there, but clearly she is about to blow it up and make her own rules, so when they see it, she is going to Iowa, she ramping it up, they know she is about to run but are in denial because they cant imagine anyone disregarding their rules Naw, she isnt running, she cant be, right? Its nuts to do it like that...etc “
And, maybe more importantly from the elites standpoint, she did NOT ask permission to run. If you were to ask them, they are the king makers. They decide who runs. They make the rules. They hold the “real” power. (They think).
At this point, I wonder who the elite’s dislike more: Sarah or Barry? If Sarah runs and wins, they are all irrelevent. They no longer control things. It scares the crap out of them. And we are just seeing the tip of the iceberg.
APPEAL, not appear.
They just fear she will tear up their playhouse, like the Joplin tornado.
They may appeal to the same constituency but Bachmann has only been a Congresswoman, Palin a Governor and Oil/Gas Commissioner, Mayor, etc. The chattering class has always declared a Congressperson didn’t stand a chance of being elected Prez...think Mike Pence [who I like].
At the sme time the host read the poll results on the air [saying MB was ahead of SP] I checked the poll results and she had the names reversed. Palin was ahead at that time too. I emailed FOX to point that out.
Last I checked, Sarah was ahead more than 2 to 1.
I like MB: But she is no Sarah.
agreed
TERRIFIC!
The fact that she is still employed by Fox may say something. They got rid of others who were going to run, but not her.
If Sarah can pull this off they are through getting any jobs in DC. She will never hire any of these turncoat anti conservative woman creeps in a Palin White House, and she does not care what they have to say. She will cause others to realize they do not need the beltway bunghole group's advice on anything.
I have seen Kraut go downhill for years, and he is becoming an emotional cripple, and should probably start analyzing himself.
Sarah is right about traveling to all of our Historical Places because it will give notice, and highlight that most of the Country is not living up to the standards that these Foundations truly mean. Kids are not even taught a decent amount of our History, they are taught about freaking recycling instead.
Kraut is very wrong, but he does not care, he thinks he can get away with picking fly$hit out of pepper and nobody will notice. How low he sinks, and he is too tone deaf to realize it.
True for some. Rove's influence being primary. Krauthammer possibly, although he has played Palin somewhat safely, as opposed to Trump. More importantly Palin, IF she actually conducts some business rather than sitting on the pot, would prove to be a game changer.
She has neither declared for public office nor formed an “exploratory committee” to run for office. The other two had both formed “exploratory committees” making them candidates.
After the ride, Palin kept a low profile. She did not speak at the rally that followed the ride; she ate lunch with wounded veterans from Walter Reed Army Medical Center in a tent blocked off from the crowd. The Palins left the Mall in the early afternoon, destination unknown.
You nailed it.....Krauthammer and Will are repeating the only script they are allowed to say-— given by those above......or should I say by those in the depths of hell.
You betcha! Correct on all counts.
Just spewed coffee at the flyspecks/pepper picking comment.
ROFLOL
fyi:

Really? Good for you.
That guy is an ass is and beginning to get on my nerves. He sometimes has some good things to say. But these latest outbursts toward the conservative field of GOP candidates show he is nothing more than a inside beltway, establishment Butt Boy.
LOL. I believe you’re right.
Good for you, keep’em honest.
Rush has said that they will tell us who they fear the most.
I think they are telling us.
