Donald Trump recently did a rather classy and unexpected thing: he printed out a Business Insider piece I had written about him, wrote some comments on top of it, and sent it to me -- via one of his assistants, of course, but still very cool for a writer to get a handwritten note from The Donald in response to a blog post.
Reminds me of a reporter who told me many years ago she used to get handwritten comments and little "corrections" from Michael Eisner when she wrote articles about Disney for The Wall Street Journal back in the day. (I have no idea if that's true, but either way, it's neat to imagine the busy chief executive of one of the nation's most powerful media companies sitting down with a pen and line-editing a reporter's piece. Deliciously old school.)
Anyway, because Trump did a seriously cool thing, here's some FREE* advice for him on how he can win the presidency, if he really even wants that encumbered position. (Why does advice always have to be monetized, by the way? Overpaid Ivy League political "consultants" who have never set foot in a Wal-Mart, nor flown coach even once, nor enjoyed Bill Maher's favorite substance, even in college -- these cretins should only get to cash those fat paychecks if their guy wins.)
1. You've done a lot of business deals over the years... er, decades. Business can get messy. Everyone in America gets that.
Rather than apologize for past deals, which you would never do anyway, just say what resonates with everyone: "I did what I had to do to get to where I am today." No one except for perhaps some self-righteous MoveOn.org newsletter editor would object to that statement....

People best get with the program unless they want O/a nightmare again.
Responsible & educated voters want to hear specifics about a candidate's policies. We want to hear clear & concise plans of action not just political rhetoric like “drill baby drill”. What will Trump do? So far, he's off to a good start:
I graduated from Wharton College of Finance & Military school, both of those educational backgrounds have come into play to shape my personal & business relationships, in what I do and who I do it with, there are tactics and strategies involved in every form of leadership, and I am well acquainted with both
I'm pro-life
I'm against gun control
I will fight to end Obamacare and replace it with something that makes sense for business that doesn't bankrupt the country
cut capital gains while raising tariffs on imports to get capitalism, which is what the country was founded upon, working for American interests instead of foreign interests
we can't be the global police anymore unless the countries pay us to protect their security
American companies can make a far better product than anyone else in the world
worse than China, OPEC is stealing us blind
I will not be raising taxes, we will be bringing in hundreds of billions of dollars from countries that have been screwing us
give me one good Admiral & a couple good ships and we'd blast the Somali pirates right out of the water
If I run & if I win this country WILL be RESPECTED again
Reagan WAS THE DEMOCRAT BEFORE he was a Republican who said: “I didn't leave the Democratic Party, the Democratic Party left me”
Donald Trump = Mafia. Same for the majority in congress and our judges.
Do you have a link. I'd like to listen/read it for myself.
At this point I like Bachmann.
Hi! I observed and heard him make this statement personally while he was being interviewed on O’Reilly. I think it was the Thursday night segment. The entire interview is on Bill’s website, the free version I hope.
Trump was quite honest about it and said as he got older and thought more about it he has become pro-life. The opposite of course is PRO-Death...
I look forward to that answer too.
Yes, Donald isn’t perfect—but I don’r think we want or need a perfect president—we need someone who will get the job done. Sometime a president must be a Bas**rd — Trump could do this.
It is what Obama ran on. (I am Not Bush) More of this video Ad You need the vote of all sectors. Not just people tuned into politics.
Thank you
While I haven't run for a political office, other than local PTA but I have on numerous occasions ran for office in the private business/charity sector and so I do know a bit about what it takes to beat the establishment.
* A good candidate does not have to call out his/her opponent on their mistakes.
* A good candidate only needs to stick to their own doctrine & policies they plan to implement to correct what isn't working.
* A good candidate then forces the opposition to defend his mistakes which the public already knows are mistakes and are hurtful to things such as our economy & national security thereby making the opposition look like an utter fool trying to defend himself.
* A good candidate is always on the offense promoting his/her policies as the policies that will correct bad decisions, not be on the defensive about them.
* A good candidate doesn't fall for the "he did this - she did that political trick "The Establishment" always wants them to use. Instead, the good candidate plays the "I will do this by doing this".
Not to brag, but I never lost an election either and I never left an elected office without it being in a better position, both financially & membership wise.
I read that in 1999 he was outspokenly in favor of gay marriage and abortion
All he has to do is get the nomination.
If he gets the nomination, he WILL get elected!!
I have ZERO doubt.

Good point.
The next president needs to be a “Bas**rd” for OUR SIDE. “NICE” just isn’t going to cut it, the media will savage the opposition the next election and I don’t see anyone on the Republican side that handles the media like Trump, unfortunately.
If Obama wasn't 1/2 black Hillary would have won the DNC nomination and McCain't would now be president. The DNC couldn't take that chance. Obama didn't win on Bush bashing rhetoric, he won simply & purely because of his skin color. PERIOD.

He also wanted to “Gouge the rich” with a new tax in 1999 when he was joining the Reform Party of NY
“Strongly pro-choice” would not restrict the partially born from being murdered
All he has to do is get the nomination.
If he gets the nomination, he WILL get elected!!
I have ZERO doubt.

So true, the one thing people here are forgetting is this is a celebrity driven society and if you put anyone running on the Republican side against Trump, “fuhgetaboutit”. Do people seriously think a Romney, Huckabee, DeMint, Palin, even Bachmann would stand a chance against Trump in this American Idol culture?
Obama’s team are experts on branding and selling an image based on emotion and perception. (Not necessarily Truth). Trump may be one of the only candidates that gets this. It is about marketing a message with feelings.
