First Lady Michelle Obama was criticized last week for vacationing in Spain with her daughter while the economy continues to sputter, but Democratic National Committee Chairman Tim Kaine said this morning it's "wrong" to attack the First Family's private vacation.
"I think it's wrong to talk about the first lady's family vacation as a politician," Kaine said on NBC's "Today Show." "She's a mom."
Michelle Obama traveled with her daughter Sasha and a group of friends to Costa del Sol in southern Spain.
"When you're in office you don't give up being a mom and a family member, too," Kaine said. "This was an opportunity for Michelle to join friends and friends' daughters [and] give them exposure to a part of the world that they haven't been before."
He said President and Michelle Obama are "focused on being good parents."

Basically what we have in the White House is the couple whose ideal state is a combination of the third world chieftainship and American resources and power.
Make ‘em defend her every day.
And....if this trip was so "right", why is a defense necessary at all?
One must surmise that the queen of America's trip to Spain may wear very thin indeed with all those unemployed here at home whose "vacation" for the last two years has been to their own backyard to sit awhile on a tree stump drinking home brew.
Not to mention the fine folks down in LA, AL, and FL whose vacation spots...tho touted by the queen a short week or two ago, remain virtually empty!

Though for the life of me, I can't think of why any of America's enemies would wish either of the Obamas ill.
Before the election, where the Obamas in the habit of vacationing overseas??? or is that just with our money?

For those that were wondering about Sasha’s outfit when she met the King. It is a J.Crew ensemble. Pieces sold separately - not necessarily meant to go together.
Posters here have reported that Sasha was suppose to eat separately and Shelly wouldn’t hear of it and that is what you see on the video of their meeting.
I am sure that didn’t go over well with the King.
Meanwhile, poor Malia is off at some camp. Perhaps by choice because she has had enough.
Tim Kaine, typical of most Democrats, has no sense of proportion.
The Democrats are truly desperate. This was a PR disaster for the Democrats and Obama.

These were to be our golden years. Travel, do things. Ha. We don't do anything while that bunch of @#$%^&*() run around the world.
She wasn't elected to ANY OFFICE. What a complete looser. No respect for the position she is in. She and her kids dress like tramps.
Well, if she is a private citizen, she can pay for her own dang trip.
It’s not even the fact it’s on the taxpayer’s dime that concerns me, especially given the fact that the Obamas do have young children, which we haven’t had since JFK.
But in the middle of this recession, and especially after all their talk about people should vacation in the Gulf of Mexico, what do they do, they go out of the country. Heck at least if they go to Martha’s Vineyard, that helps out the US economy. There aren’t any good places here to vacation?

Anyway, I think it’s the fact that they have more than one kid that makes a huge difference.
