I just don't see 'How Palin Could Win' (Another Jourbalist Obot sounds off)
The Washington Post ^ | February 10, 2010 | Jonathan Capehart

Posted on 02/10/2010 3:08:50 PM PST by 2ndDivisionVet

Sarah Palin's raw talent is not unappreciated by me. What I don't get, however, is this undying belief that she could become president of the United States. The latest comes from Matt Lattimer at the Daily Beast. I won't fine-tooth "How Palin Could Win," except for Lattimer's last assertion.

The former speechwriter to President George W. Bush and Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld advises Palin to "remember political history." He continues,

"No actor can be elected president." "No First Lady can win a Senate seat in a state where she never lived." "No one-term senator can defeat Hillary Clinton." There are plenty more opportunities to prove those in the know wrong.

Yes, Ronald Reagan was an actor in the early days. But he served two terms as governor of California (1967 to 1975). Full terms, I might add. And he ran twice unsuccessfully for the Republican presidential nomination in 1968 and 1976 before he snagged it and the White House in 1980.(continued)

Wishing doesn't make it so, Jonathan. And Governor Palin took then Senator Biden to the woodshed in their debate, but Governor Romney would be more formidable?

There are a boatload of Republicans and Conservatives that think that Palin cannot win. Not my opinion, just stating fact.

If taking Biden to the woodshed means letting him get away with bull——ing for 60 minutes, than I guess we have a different meaning.

As much as Biden was full of it up there, for the most part she let him get away with it and with most voters being disengaged from the facts, he came off sounding like he knew what he was talking about.

Put a guy like Wisconsin Rep. Paul Ryan up there with Biden and it would be an absolute bloodbath.

Not to worry, Jonathan Capehart. It will all be made clear to you in 2 1/2 years.

I don’t care if she’s elected president or not. She makes everyone to the left of Attila The Hun bat crap crazy, and that’s good enough for me.

"And Governor Palin took then Senator Biden to the woodshed in their debate, but Governor Romney would be more formidable?"

I don't know if Romney could out-debate Biden, but the fact of the matter is the majority of people who were watching - at least from every scientific poll I've seen - thought that Biden won that debate. Since there's not a panel of judges scoring the debate, like you might find in college or high school, the public's perception of who won, is really all that matters.

For whatever reason(s), the clear majority of voters felt on election day that Biden was qualified to be VP, and Palin was not. If she can turn that tide in three years, is really anyone's guess. I imagine cutting her tenure as Governor short, didn't do a lot to help her with those who didn't believe she was qualified for the VP slot.

"Put a guy like Wisconsin Rep. Paul Ryan up there with Biden and it would be an absolute bloodbath."

Ryan, Pence, McCotter, DeMint and several others who really know the policy and the issues, would have faired much better, IMHO.

The fact of the matter is Palin suffers from never serving in a legislative body where political debate is part of the job description. As an executive, you really don't have to make your case like you do as a legislator. Palin's inexperience hurt her in that debate.

I never 'thought' that a guy named BARACK HUSSEIN MUHAMMED OBAMA would be President.

I never thought JOE BIDEN would be Vice President.

I never thought I would see our National Sovereignty given over to INTERPOL.

I never thought I would see a PEDOPHILE being put in charge of PUBLIC EDUCATION.

Bottom line: No one knows what WILL or CAN happen.

Agreed on all of them guys.

Palin got decent marks in the debate because she didn’t trip over her feet on the way out after the media portrayed her as a bumbling bimbo for the previous 3 weeks.

She performed above expectations, but she did not win that debate.

LOL! Me too!! She may decide it's just not worth the carp right now, and she may just concentrate on working to get conservatives elected to Congress when possible, and folks who she thinks would support most of the conservative agenda, when it's not possible to get a rock solid conservative elected. After doing this for several years, she'll definitely have done her bit, and could run later down the line.

She has a lot more experience now.

Look at who is attacking Sarah Palin and how......and think to yourself....where have I heard/seen/witnessed such a defensive attitude in dealing with an adversary before?

She is doing this. She is doing that. She is going to be here. She is going to be there.

Got a clue yet?

Patton.

Germans were scared $hitless of him. What's he doing down there? What's he doing over there?

Where will the attack come?

This can't be the main attack Patton is not leading it. He's the best they have.

And just how much free publicity did Gibbs give Palin with his half-witted display of juvenile petulance?

I agree. We needed one of those “I knew John Kennedy, and you are no John Kennedy” moments. And God knows it was a very target-rich environment for that. Even when McCain debated Dear Leader. Neither of them went in for the kill.

I thought McCain did very well in the last debate, but by them it was too late. He waited until the final 2 weeks to find his spine.

After the convention pop he played it safe and moderate. He would be President today if he would of stood against Bush on TARP.

She has more experience as a debater? Where has she gained this experience?

Capehart sounds left wing to me, so why is it that left wing writers feel a need to chime in on someone that they would never vote for, in fact someone whose supporters they don’t even understand?

I say, STFU.
