I just don't see 'How Palin Could Win' (Another Jourbalist Obot sounds off)
The Washington Post ^ | February 10, 2010 | Jonathan Capehart

Sarah Palin's raw talent is not unappreciated by me. What I don't get, however, is this undying belief that she could become president of the United States. The latest comes from Matt Lattimer at the Daily Beast. I won't fine-tooth "How Palin Could Win," except for Lattimer's last assertion.

The former speechwriter to President George W. Bush and Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld advises Palin to "remember political history." He continues,

"No actor can be elected president." "No First Lady can win a Senate seat in a state where she never lived." "No one-term senator can defeat Hillary Clinton." There are plenty more opportunities to prove those in the know wrong.

Yes, Ronald Reagan was an actor in the early days. But he served two terms as governor of California (1967 to 1975). Full terms, I might add. And he ran twice unsuccessfully for the Republican presidential nomination in 1968 and 1976 before he snagged it and the White House in 1980.(continued)

"My assumption has some merit and I am awaiting your answer from which you drew your conclusion, Einstein."

I drew my conclusion based upon the fact that PALIN HASN'T DEBATED ANYONE since Biden in 2008. If you know of such a debate occurring, please share it with us, sweetie. I'd love to read the transcript and make a determination for myself on her performance.

You had to go back 150 some year for a example. Think about that one for awhile.

Lincoln was a great war time president. Different times

Taking fire every day? Where?”

I see you never watch ABC, CBS, NBC, MSNBC, CNN, HLN, read the Wahington Post, New York Times, and 99% of the minstream media that has been on a non-stop, unrelenting jihad against Sarah Palin for over 16 months now.

She made her FIRST Sunday morning news show appearance of her short political career just this past week”

“Short political career” huh?
Chortle.
You anti-Palin bots just crack me up.
Say, tell me this: Who has had a longer political career and better executive experience back in 2008 when they run for office: 0bama or Sarah Palin?

You have to win more than the conservative vote to win a national elections”

Ummm she is polling even(approx 50/50) amongst independents. I am sure you knew that already. Never stopped you from spewing anyway.

Palin has only speaks to conservatives, mostly social conservatives. “

/sarc Yeah..like all them “conservatives” she addressed in Hong Kong last year.

What? Because the drive-by media said so? The election was a referendum on Bush/Cheney, that’s it. The stock market crash right before the election sealed the deal.

There are a boatload of Republicans and Conservatives that think that Palin cannot win. Not my opinion, just stating fact.

And they've got a point. Palin has about as much chance of winning the White House as a republican has of winning a Senate seat from Massachusetts.

"What? Because the drive-by media said so?"

No. It's because the scientific polling done after the debate - including the polling by WSJ and FNC - says so.

If that’s true, Jonathon, what are you worrying about?

I mean I know that the msm has been ordered to poison the Palin well and all, but if she’s such a loser, why bother?

Sarah Palin took on corruption in her own party and won, sending some of the corrupt politicians to jail. In her own party.

She pushed through a natural gas law, a major political accomplishment that takes a huge step toward energy independence, that nobody else was able to do for decades.

Palin cut back on the perks of her own office, and refused a salary increase.

She also cut 85% of pork barrel projects as soon as she came to office.

Let’s examine her entire political career in general, during which she has consistently refused—despite the daily temptations—to give in to corruption, and always put the interests of her people before anything else political.

This makes her more qualified for the presidency than 99% of all the politicians who have set foot in Washington for the past two centuries.

Perhaps most strikingly, she gave up executive power, because she believed it was best for the people. Are people able to conceptualize what it says about Sarah Palin’s character that she would relinquish that much personal power for the sake of the people of her state?

Just because Barack Obama had no experience you think it's a good idea for the next President to have the same lack of experience. Please. You're hypocrisy is frightening. Obama wasn't qualified to be President, and Palin isn't qualified to be President. It's not an either/or situation.

Ah, no. I see I'm speaking to someone who's politically naive. It doesn't matter if you think Palin won, or if I don't. In politics, what matters is what the American people think. At the conclusion of that debate, every scientific poll showed an convincing majority of Americans who watched the debate thought Joe Biden won - so, that means Joe Biden won.

If you have access to other scientific polling data that says Palin won that debate, please post it. Otherwise, you'll forgive me if I don't take your word for it - after all, I don't let others tell me what to think.

"So who is?"

Jim DeMint, Haley Barbour, Mike Pence maybe McDonnell from VA maybe Thune. The GOP has PLENTY of capable and competent conservative candidates that can win that aren't burdened by the same baggage that plagues Palin.

So you are basing your conclusions on polling data which states Biden won. Therefore you are letting them tell you what to think. I can see you are easily manipulated in to thinks what the powers what you to think.

Just because they say it is so doesn’t mean it is so.

I will ask again “who is?”.

None of whom have any visibility outside CSPAN which tells me that they are not engaging the enemy in a manner that is neither efficient nor effective. If they were the MSM would be going after them with the same level of venom that seems to only be reserved for Gov Palin. While they may be qualified to be president, they don't seem to have the guts for the fight.

"Just because they say it is so doesn’t mean it is so."

OK, now I see you're position. All the polls are wrong? Right? They're all just making it up - every one of them, just like they were making it up when they were all predicting a comfortable win for Obama?

Are they all making it up now when they have Obama in negative approvals, or all the polls accurate now?

Adjust your tinfoil. The fact of the matter is on balance, the pollsters usually get it right, just like they got it right in 2008.

I just don't see 'How Palin Could Win'

It's simple. She gets the Republican nomination and wins at least 270 electoral votes. That'll do it.

I will give you Demint the others doubtful. And before you spout off about Demint being a legislator he has run his own business.
