AUGUSTA, Maine (AP) Public health interests prevailed over warnings that personal freedoms are being eroded as the Maine House gave its final approval to a bill to ban smoking in bars and taverns.

Representatives' 95-47 enactment vote sent the measure to the Senate and put Maine a step closer to joining California and Delaware in imposing statewide bans on smoking in bars. New York's ban starts in July, and Connecticut's newly enacted ban on smoking in bars takes effect next April.

So, in effect, people like yourself are mandating others to live as you would like.

Now that the BMJ put forth, after a 40 year study, that second hand smoke is NOT the killer our nazi anti's wanted all to believe, these people say they CAN'T STAND THE SMELL.

Well, excuse ME, but I can't stand their ATTITUDES! Maybe we should ship all the NON AND ANTI SMOKERS TO TEXAS! heh! Sure would be a better United States if we could do that. Misery loves company. Can you imagine these groups living together in one state? What, then, could they bitch about!

Naw, I like Texas. Why would you want to do such a thing to those nice people?

;^)

No, they really belong in North Korea, Cuba, or someplace like France. That is the kind of mentality they have. They will fit right in!

I never said that I champion any particular business, buttwipe.

I do champion the right of a property owner to use his property for all legal endevours without state coercion.

Never mind that the business may not exist in the future when they decide they want to go to that bar.

I comprised a list of business's that closed or cut back employees when they were forced into the smoking ban.

Book mark it and read it some day. The anti's think that smoking bans will not hurt businesses. Well.........this link will prove them ALL wrong:

Smoking Bans Bad For Business

"As I sit here at age 50 waiting for 80mg of Vicodin "

Is that 80mg of hydrocodone in that vicoden? If so then holy heck you're gonne be a zombie soon. My Dr gives my 7.5/500 version of vicoden for pain and that almost makes me a zomebie. 7.5 is the hydrocodone amount.

And remember, he can smell cigarette smoke blown out of the window two cars ahead of him in a NY traffic jam with the windows up.

Even nut cases can make a good argument. Minion would need 2 promotions to be a nut case.

The vote of 2/3 of the Maine House of Representatives is making my argument. Its going to be interesting to me to see when the smokers will look in the mirror and take responsibility for these bans due to their selfish behaviors. Will it occur after the 50th state is banned or before ?

Perhaps the government can outlaw offensive omissions from self-absorbed contentious people

I bet a majority on FR would vote to silence the dangerous fumes spewing out of your mouth.

Anyone else think so?

Let's vote. If the majority on FR is offended by your noxious emanations, let's say that you have to pay Jim Robinson a fine of $25 every time you are caught spewing offensive smoke and mirrors on FR.

Got game?

For a number of years now Maine has had a "tavern" license that for an extra $2,000+ a year (Started at $700 when it first went into effect) would allow patrons to smoke. I guess our elected betters weren't happy with that.

Either they ban smoking or they don't, but they certainly cannot tell what bars can sell and cannot sell that is available on the market. This is beyond insane.

"The bar business will suffer greatly as these "clubs" begin to proliferate in New York City and in other stupid states. "

They've also had problems in NYC with people going outside the bar to smoke creating little crowds of smokers along the streets outside and not in the bar buying drinks. Not long before it becomes illegal outside there too. Does the state have the authority to make it illegal to smoke at all anywhere? If so, I don't see that too far away for NY or CA. If they do that, I hope so many people move out of those states that it really really hurts.

"The only ones busting businesses would be you hypocrite smokers who prefer cowering at home with your cigarettes rather than going without a cigarette for 30 minutes, supporting the businesses you claim to champion ."

No, the one's busting business are the anti-smoking nazis who pass this legislation while taking money hand over foot in cigarette taxes.

I can't wait till the majority decides to outlaw something you like to do. I'm sure you won't feel the same way then.
