you rock!
Plenty of absolutes with you, aren't there? On your first point, the length of time issue -- in many cases, with brand new users who make what are percieved to be "off the cuff" statements, the natural assumption is that they are from...let's say "elsewhere" with the sole desire of causing a ruckus on FR.
And with your second point, stop being silly. Certainly there are some potential limits with the "type" of weapon one should be able to own. I got no business with a nuclear warhead. But you, nor anyone else should be able to tell me whether or not I should be able to own an "assault" weapon - therein lies your point, of course. If I decide, as a collector, to purchase such a weapon, then it's my business. You want to know about it? No problem. But that's a different issue completely.
And to get to the crux of that part of the problem, how do you define "assault weapon?"
And this makes attacking pregnant women who happen to smoke OK in your book????
Excuse me? What does that have to do with anything?
Yes, I know that's the story, but I have recently become aware that violent crimes that seem utterly incomprehensible are often black on white hate crimes that the press masks as just "random crime" by concealing the races of the victim and the attacker. So, at the risk of sounding like a budding KKK-er... was the 15 year old boy black?
You sound more like a gun-grabber than anything else, yes?
You are living in the wrong century if you really believe this justifies the attack of this woman.
Regardless of whether you approve of smoking or not, there is absolutely no justification for what happened here. Do not use your dislike of an adult's choices to justify your own prejudices, if that is what you are expressing here.
That one was out of line, fella.
Glad to see you Libs own guns also...
And you base this assessment on...??
You're correct - and the "lower" birth-weight numbers are actually measured in grams, not even ounces.
I was thrilled with my 5lb14oz "low birth weight" baby - water broke at 4:55 I was holding her at 5:41- no pain meds no nothing.
Let's just follow this logic. A woman can do whatever she wants, even if it endangers her unborn. If that results in harm or even death to that child, that's that woman's business and no one elses. Am I reading you correctly?
If you want to amend your comment to say that you believe that the behavior is OK because it is not putting the unborn child at risk, then feel free to do so. But I think that arguing that a woman can do whatever she wants with the fetus inside of her is going to be very unpopular around these parts.
me too.
oneo'thesedays, come cw2, shootin' armed socialists will be both tactically wise and rich in irony ...
Any of (rare) press reports I read made no mention of race and therefore I am inclined to think that both children were white, as the victim was white.
The teachings to children by the anti-smoker organizations actually make the KKK look less than menacing.
They are taught total disrespect of adults who choose to smoke - they are actually being taught that it is perfectly alright to walk up to perfect strangers and call them evil and tell them they are killing children.
I have actually had children confront me on the street and call me a murderer because I have a cigarette.
I year or so ago I grabbed a toddleer who had gotten away from him mother and darted into the street - did the woman thank me for snatching the child and returning him to her safely, NO - I got a ration of manure because I had a lit cigarette when I grabbed him.
Anti-smokers are the KKK of the 21st century.
Get real, will you?
I'm advocating freedom from busybodies, not doing harm to the unborn.
I'm one of the smokers being attacked in many of those posts - particularly the ones from the Yahoo and iWon boards.
