[history]
A top Housing Authority official has smoked himself out of an $80,000-a-year job.
After consulting with the mayor's office, Housing chairman Tino Hernandez yesterday ordered the immediate firing of Robert Swinton, the deputy director of the Office of Facility Planning, one of five employees spotted by a Post reporter last week in extended smoking sessions outside the agency's headquarters at 250 Broadway.

Two wrongs do not a right make...
I never tried to defend the Gov't passing laws such as those you've presented.
Government is still stealing from taxpayers when government employees take unauthorized breaks to smoke.
What's so hard to understand here?
To: All
I am not allowed to take a single smoke break at work...and i never whined once!

My grandma shot herself in the head with a .44 magnum every year for her birthday to clear her sinuses. Worked great! She lived to 90!Well...... no damn wonder you're....... you.

You don't know anything about me, where I work other than AZ.
You are lying about me and those I work with...
Do you think this furthers your cause any?

Government is still stealing from taxpayers when government employees take unauthorized breaks to smoke. How about the non-smokers taking breaks around the coffee machine and donut box? What about non-smoking employees who prop feet up on desk and read paper? What about those employees? Or is this just your vendetta against employees who choose to smoke a legal commodity?

What is your problem? Where in this post did I ever say gov't employees shouldn't be disciplined for taking any unauthorized breaks? Of course they should, its stealing from taxpayers...
To: SheLion
Your post #226
"I have the feeling your using more time taking notes about people taking breaks then getting your own work done."
Again, you are lying about me and those I work with and I will not let it stand...
To: Great Dane
This person really has a problem! heh!

Good grief - can't you read when someone admits a mistake?
I agreed with you that I had misread the part you pointed out to me.
I admitted my mistake and was seeking to further expand upon your theory of theft, but you won't go beyond what I already put behind.

Lying? How can I lie when, like you said, I do not know you. I said "it's a feeling I have about you from your postings." You sure get your back up over nothing.
Your not making any sense to me, and I won't respond to you any longer. I'm not here to get into whizzing contests.

There you go making sense again.
Like the stats on smokers falling sick. If you had to go out to smoke, chances are you'd fall sick too especially in cold area winters.
To: SheLion
You are the one making wild accusations about myself and those I work with... How can you do this since you don't know me?

Personally, I think making love to my wife beats any drug ever invented
Yea and its still a drug but one produced by your own body not an outside source!
To: marajade
Sure I did... my post #221. Only in part.
I agree that two wrongs do not make a right. However you have not addressed the point I made regarding who caused the problem to begin with.

I don't smoke now but I did at one point in my life. I still hold the same attitude now that I did when I smoked. It is stealing when one takes an unauthorized break for whatever reason when it involves a gov't employee getting paid from taxypayer revenue. The issue isn't smoking... the issue is taking an unauthorized break.
To: marajade
Government is stealing from taxpayers when employees take unauthorized breaks to smoke... Don't steal, the government doesn't like competition.
To: SheLion
Swinton took breaks totaling 69 minutes before lunch - more than double his daily allotment. If he had taken these breaks to go to the mens' room, he could probably now file suit against the Mayor under the American's With Disabilities Act.
But he's a smoker...so he's dirty. </sarcasm>
