And that's exactly how it should work: people who want to come here should be made to buy the right to be a U.S. citizen from a current citizen.
Once the transaction is completed, the now former lazy U.S. citizen takes the money recieved in payment for his citizenship and buys his way into a third world country, where his purchase price will enable him to live like a lazy minor potentate.
And everybody's happy: The immigrant is now an American, the lazy former-American lives like a king, and the rest of us don't have to worry about moving over to make room for a bloated population or paying relief to lazy Americans or worry about government continuing to grow exponentially in response to population bloat and the need to ration resources.
But unfortunately, we can't trade them, so we're stuck with them and are out of room otherwise, so ALL immigration should stop, legal and illegal.
Actually you probably won't get much of an argument from many members of this forum on this particular issue.
The problem however is not the "hard working immigrant" it's the family and especially the children of the hard working immigrant who are overwhelming our infrastructure.
Yes, and ostriches stick their head in the sand, but neither approach solves problems. The GOP is dead wrong on this issue, and they had better start listening to "the little people" in flyover country. Not a dime from me until they do an about face. I think I will send some $$ to Gekas though. We should really be supporting this bill.
Why shouldn't they? Threy know we'll vote for them anyway. After all, the other side is so horrible it would be unthinkable not to vote for ....

No. Absolutely not. Last election I did a write-in for Alan Keyes. I'll vote for Hillary Clinton before I vote for George Bush. I might as well get the genuine article who says she's going to cut my throat and has said so for 30 years than a bozo who vacantly grins at me and then does it. The only practical difference for me between Bush and Owlgore was that if Owlgore had been elected people at this site wouldn't be trying to convince me how brilliant he is.
If you look back over what has been done since 911, you see some personel changes, gradual implementation of the 1996 changes that Clinton totally ignored, and many efforts to build a foundation regarding information tech. to record and track people comming and going or staying.
I expect more and ofcourse I will complain loudly if they donot continue.
The reasons for incrementalism are multiple but I believe that politically, immigration is not yet seen as a problem by most of the country. Bush is fully aware of the problem, but the midwest and central states are not. We must continue to educate.
The other problem is Mexico. We have thousands of agreements with them on everything from right of ways to pipelines. A massive or noticable change in our policies seems to create a huge firestorm in their public forums. They would demand that their government cease all cooperation with the U.S. A large re-patriation of illegals would cause a panic and resulting chaos with our relations. To do it carefully and painfully slowly seems to keep it to a minimum.
As I see it, there are moves underway to better control the border. Money has been appropriated to hire and train hundreds of new border agents. The fact that they said alot of it was for the Canadian border is a diversion, I believe. I see most of those resources going south.
After these folks are in the pipeline I believe you will see more money appropriated for more agents.
Once the border is sealed, quietly and without fanfare, I believe we can gradually eliminate the undesirable illegals and the immigration people will catch up on their paperwork with the others. Those who are not elligable will be re-patriated but at a rate that Mexican authorities can handle without raising issues.
This is what I see. This is why it will likely not be a issue politically, except for a few who lack patience. I appreciate those of you who are vocal, as it moves the process. Unfortunately for me, I know the process must be a slow one. A good example of this is our relations with the Saudis. Privately our diplomats are putting the pressure on them and have been for months. The Saudis are not moving as fast as we would like and we are now publically turning the thumb screws. Ah, the art of diplomacy!
It is important for the U.S, our neighbors and the rest of the world that we do not appear to be buiding a wall or isolating ourselves. I see some in the foreign press calling bush a little hitler for the little that we have done. These idiot foreigners don't understand that we are holding back. They don't understand that if we had to, we are perfectly prepared to take on the entire planet.
In 1-2 years I would like to re-visit this to see if I am correct. I pray that I am, because the future of our economic stability depends on it.
George Walker Bush is the best friend Democrats have. Goron couldn't have gotten away with a third of the crap Jorge has.
As for Bush and his globalist cronies in Congress, they can go pound sand with their pals the Saudi's before they will ever get a vote from me or mine again.
