[history]
After forcefully fielding questions yesterday about a 12-year-old stock sale, President Bush comes to New York today to deliver one of his most important speeches: a challenge to corporate America to clean up its act.
With all the ink spilled over Enron, Arthur Andersen, Tyco, Dynergy, WorldCom, etc., Americans are besieged with instances of malfeasance in the nation's boardrooms.

Hmmm.

"As Bush said, America's top goals remain the economy - and the war." Godspeed, Mr. President.

Just think, some reporter had to stay up nites, working overtime, to dig up that piece of dirt.
It almost restores my faith in investigative journalism, to think one could find a 12-year-old stock sale to question.
Now, if this journalist would try using his/her talent in current events, s/he might really find a story. [Although there is significant danger in that--it might uncover too much of a story. Gotta be careful, tread softly, don't want to find the wrong flavor of dirt, now, do s/he.]

How many years will it take to rid this great country of the smell and perversion of the klintons perverted presidency?
And still the Dumb-O-Crats continue to defend him.
Unbeliveable, just fuc*ing unbeliveable.

Just think, some reporter had to stay up nites, working overtime, to dig up that piece of dirt.Business dealings by both GWB and VP Cheney were pretty well publicized throughout the campaign, but most people didn't bother trying to understand it and it wasn't an issue when the economy was strong, just as no one got overly upset about some of Hillary's deals.
Times they are a-changin'. I can't imagine that GWB operated outside the law or accepted practices.

GWB is just another politican from a family of the same. Can you believe his father was involved in Mena, or that family member Neil looted the savings and loans?
"There is a natural aristocracy among men. The grounds of this are virtue and talents... There is also an artificial aristocracy founded on wealth and birth, without either virtue or talents; for with these it would belong to the first class... The artificial aristocracy is a mischievous ingredient in government, and provision should be made to prevent its ascendency."
--Thomas Jefferson to John Adams, 1813
Mr. Jefferson describes todays political class on both sides of the aisle quite well, IMO

Wow bringing out the tin foil on Mena aren't you and implying that Neil looted "all" the savings and loans, when in fact he was on the board of directors of one failed S & L.(i.e a small cog in the wheel).
But that doesn't matter to you, smear away.
I guess Thomas Jefferson would be proud of you since you have appointed yourself the sole arbiter of his sayings.

Yesterdays press conference was un-freaking believable.
Harken this, Harken that... You would have to be ignorant not to see how the DNC directed abcnbcbs the press to harp on it. It was harped on in 94 and 1999-2000, but per Terry McAwful, they were told to ask again and again like it was new. If I were W, I would have anwered every repeated attempt like this:
"Ill refer you to the first time I answered this question"

I'm sure Ollie shredding everything in sight, the EO on Presidential Papers, and the appointment of a US Attorney who DEA investigators accused of obstructing their efforts to the top job are all the proof of innocence you need. We all know it was klintoons smuggling ring. Worship your leaders if you wish, I demand accountability of mine no matter which side of the aisle they sit on.

You're jumping all over the place in your effort to smear
every president with the same broad brush. Don't forget
to include Warren Harding and the Teapot Dome...

"Worship your leaders if you wish, I demand accountability of mine no matter which side of the aisle they sit on."Don't be a hypocrite. You are just a plain garden-variety anarchist who is against all leadership. Also, you are a very poor liar...you really shouldn't attempt it in the future. Stick to the things you are good at...like drooling.

"...but per Terry McAwful, they were told to ask again and again like it was new." It really is amazing how the media continue to parrot the DNC talking-points fax, even though much of the public has caught on to the practice. But the media, in their desperation, keeps trying it - even though the polls (Gallup, yesterday, was the latest) keep showing that the public ain't buyin' it. The problemo is that this game is all that Terry knows - and the media is all too happy to have someone else do their dirty work for them.
To be at least a LITTLE bit fair to the WH Press Corps, they ARE under orders to get themselves on camera asking the questions that Bush answers. It sure didn't work yesterday, though - each of the nets presented the news conference in the most hacked-together, disjointed reports I've seen them do in a long time. This is because Dubya played the conference so well that they couldn't use a single complete sentence of his without running counter to their agenda. So it was a couple of words here, a chop-chop there, very hideous editing they used to keep the Amurrican Pipple from hearing Bush's complete sentences.
Must have been maddening.

"The Dow Jones lost another 100 points yesterday on reports that drugmaker Merck's revenues were seriously overstated." This line is misguided, since the Dow was UP THREE hundred + on Friday. The line leaves you with the impression that the Dow is on one continuous downslide, which is not the case.
That said, I'd be in real estate if I were you.

Just think, some reporter had to stay up nites, working overtime, to dig up that piece of dirt. You've got to be kidding, right? This story is as old as the hills. It was brought up in 1988, in 1994, in 1998, and again in 2000. It's a retread. I read yesterday that some WP reporter said the Dems are not going to let this go and will use it up until the election in November. My question to the reporter is, "well, maybe the Dems won't let it go, but does that mean the press has to follow along with the Dems?" Okay, silly me, that's a really dumb question.
I hate the press.
