Bush speaks, they spin.
I am sick of all the DU people on the freep, pretending to be disgruntled conservatives. I see right through them.

I consider you to be one of the most grounded posters on this forum and agree with you most times. But I'm starting to really wonder how far the Bush admin. is going to take things.

The Department of Defense is the P.C. term for the Department of War... If George Orwell was alive we would have to shoot him.

Can you tell me what year that department's name was changed from The War Department to the Department of Defense? I distinctly remember it referred to as The War Department years and years ago, but I don't remember when it changed.

Wanna be better protected, or not?No.
Some of us like our freedoms enough to trust our protection to God, and not the state. This kind of "protection" is a cheap promise of "comfort". Better America weather her blows now, than the certainty of stagnation from that tired path.

Until sometime early in the 1900s (I think just before or after WWI) it was called/named the Department of War.

I am watching President Bush giving a speech on CNN telling us he is expanding federal government more than any Democrat since Truman.Do you mean to say he's even gonna surpass Johnson's "Great Society"???
Heaven help us!!!

Please return to your Homeland (tm). You will be safe there.
And stop thinking bad thoughts.
Big Brother can see what you are thinking.

Ok class, listen up. Lets go slowly with today's lesson.
Expanding gov't for defense = good
Expanding gov't for sucking up to liberal causes = bad.

Wanna be better protected, or not? Increasing funding for the department of education, the NEA, and public broadcasting protects us how exactly?
