Great screen name.
Thanks. I was re-reading Thomas More's Utopia when I picked it. More invented the word, which is Latinized from the Greek: Utopos - meaning No Place. The major river in Utopia was named (transliterated) No Water. The Parliament spoke No Truth -- in all it was a very clever satire on Henry VIII, which went right over Henry's head. (Sadly, More lost his .. but that's another story...)

..and shame on all you 'tin foilers" going on for years about FEMA taking control, barbed wire camps etc. FEMA has no "police powers ". Oops FEMA was just made part of the "national security' apparatus..well never mind!

HE'S BRINGING FEMA INTO THIS ARRANGEMENT! And next there'll be white buses, and concertina-wired camps right?
Wondered how long it would take to get off into the weeds.

Response of a true simpleton. And I'll take that as a sincere compliment.
Yes, I do tend to look at things of this world as a simple person. It's a pity that more people do not wish to do likewise: so much of the hurt and suffering of this world is caused by people wanting a little more power over others. They complicate things and trying to complicate the matter further won't resolve it.
If sinkspur calls me a "simpleton", it doesn't matter to me: he's one of the sort that's caught up in the lust for power. I left that behind a long time ago. I have to pity him, actually.

We've gone past the life jacket stage Sam. The meter I have hooked up to my TV says it is time to abandon ship!!

This just in...the competing plan by the liberals... ,One hundrend thousand INS agents on the streets.
Sounds like something President Bush would agree with, better on the streets than defending the border.

OK I've now reviewed the list of changes. You're nuts. There's not one drop of expansion. Are you a betting man?

Unfortunately, I fear Andy Card is dreaming. The budget should already be available within the other cabinet departments but it probably won't be there when it is time to shift the dollars around. This is the same government that required a $43 billion plug to balance their books because they were not sure where the money went.
I hope this is an excuse to cut the fat. The testimoney on the FBI today indicated NINE namagement levels between the field agent and the director. They could save plenty if they eliminated two or three layers!

"Beats being a Bush bootlick"
Hey Darth, I would like to remind you the "federal bureaucrats" are "our" families and friends and neighbors. We did not import these people from Mars. There is much to be done to "fix" this mess, and the people who are most directly involved in the fixing are us.
I have never been accused of being a Bushbot, but if he pulls this one off, I may become one ;>)

... there will no additional money required except the $37.1 billion he requested for Homeland Security. In fact, there will be streamlining! That's yet to be proven. This is a massive undertaking by the Bush administartion. Remember PKM, we're dealing with the biggest bureaucracy in world history. You and I both know, that cutting waste, fraud and abuse, could easily reduce the federal budget 5%-10%. So, when I hear someone use the word, streamlining, a very apprehensive feeling comes over me.
As for getting rid of old clintonites, that's something I like. But most of these people won't be fired, just demoted or asked to retire, may be. We'll still have loads of deadwood hanging around.
I have some reservations about all this, but America is at war and all good American's have to support President Bush, if we want to win. I have confidence he'll make it happen. But it won't be easy.

"Wanna be better protected, or not?"
No.
Some of us like our freedoms enough to trust our protection to God, and not the state.
You're joking right?
I bet you don't go to Doctors either because it isn't trusting God to heal you.

I am very happy you would feel safer with Algore as president. It warms my heart.

Show me the expansion. Of course you'll first have to define expansion. Are you talking budget, government employees, power or some combination there of?
