I am watching President Bush giving a speech on CNN telling us he is expanding federal government more than any Democrat since Truman.
You know I did miss that declaration of war by the Taliban. In fact I thought our government blamed Al-Queda(sp) or UBL or OSL or anyone but the terrorists who died in the attack.
We did not attack Afghanistan, as you would like to have us all believe. We attacked the Taliban, which is housed in Afghanistan.
So if an attack is made by a foreign power on the United States government they are only attacking the government not the United States?

In times of war, who better, and this is war. However, we do not need to redesign the wheel, all we need to do is fix the flat. Keep it simple stupid. But that does not sell politically. That is what Bush's advisors are focusing on. Selling it to the sheeple.

However these services are called, they are a war department of the Executive Branch of our federal government, in addition to the States' organized Militia.
Any kind of reorganization, concentrations or disbursements of martial power, intelligence gathering and dissemination, and logistics, now discussed across the nation, are therein authorized; another department of government is not required.
What is required, is an Executive who will use the authority of Commander in Chief to straighten out any mess within the existing war department ... instead of foresaking his responsibilities in lieu of a fear to address the matters directly through vicarious, or purpose of, evasions.
You may observe the transition and many reorganizations of the War Department during the first half of the 20th Century.

Department of Defense Reorganization Order, 10 January 1962, and Department of the Army General Order 8, 15 February 1962. McNamara Reorganization of the Department of the Army and the Army. Under Section 8 (a) of the Defense Reorganization Act of 1958 President Kennedy submitted this plan to Congress on 16 January 1962 which abolished the headquarters of the technical services, except the Surgeon General and the Chief of Engineers.
