President Bush is the leading obstacle to controlling illegal immigration in this country and his "open door" border policy is a threat to national security, the Republican chairman of the Congressional Immigration Reform Caucus said yesterday.
Rep. Tom Tancredo told editors and reporters in a luncheon meeting at The Washington Times that Mr. Bush is out of step with the majority of Americans who want immigration reform and that his "altruistic views" on the subject were an open invitation to new terrorist attacks.

Why, certainly those rich citizens of Arab oil producing countries who arrive here legally on student visas with pockets full of (our) oil money contribute to the US economy much more than all the other illegal day laborers, gardeners, lettuce pickers and busboys. Let's build the damn wall, utilizing the (former) East German expertise that's just awaiting to be utilized somewhere in this world!
All your ancestors (or yourselves) who emigrated to this country 50, 100, 200 years ago or whenever, could not be legally admitted today, could not pass the current everchanging, capricious immigration laws and if you flex your imagination a little you could say that when they did arrive they in effect were violating the immigration laws we have today in addition to possibly violating the immigration of their own day.
I was just trying to point out to you that a terrorist would not stick out like a sore thumb even without illegal immigrants around. There are over 5 million Muslims in this country, it would not be hard for them to blend into the crowd, and they surely don't need illegal Mexican immigrants to make them a fake ID card either.
Or national suicide!

Not to mention the fact that we walked through 12 feet of snow and had to fight off dinosaurs to get to school!
Sorry - I sound like both our fathers.
I don't know. But you are right.
Dealing for the bottom of the standard Leftist deck, I see.
I'll tell you what a fascist leader would dearly love... the Cult of Personality many Freepers are developing about President Bush.
As long as the standard of living in Mexico is that of a third world country, we will always see desperately poor people trying to cross the border seeking work or welfare. A family on welfare in the U.S. enjoys a higher standard of living than millions of working poor in Mexico. Wouldn't you do the same thing in their situation?
No. I have values and respect the laws of this and other countries... in contrast to the Illegals and their apologists.
Your proposed solution means more expenditures and bigger government and it will not completely eliminate the problem.
First, the expenditures and increase in size involve legitimate functions of the Federal Government, like defending our borders and sovereignty. So your point is irrelevant.
Second, who cares if my solution will "completely" eliminate the problem of Illegals? No solution will... so what? Should we do nothing? Of course not, so your second point is also irrelevant.
My solution:
Limit welfare to U.S. citizens or permanent residents. That would greatly reduce government welfare spending, which means smaller government while removing the incentive for aliens seeking welfare to enter the country illegally. We'd still get illegal aliens coming here to work, but those aliens add to our economy by providing a valuable commodity (labor) at a lower cost than American employees would accept. OTOH, the illegal aliens who contribute nothing to our economy would no longer have an incentive to drain our welfare rolls.
Illegals already ineligible for welfare in many places... doesn't stop them from lying, since they're dishonest scofflaws with every breath they take on our soil. Your solution would do virtually nothing to solve the problem, but much to pretend it doesn't exist.
Illegals ARE the problem.
When Northeasterners publish the list of charter flights into their towns that will welcome Illegals, non-stop until their local population increases by 10% to 20%, then I'll know they're sincere.
As it is, you all give us in the border states platitudes, without having a clue as to what's going on.
No thanks.
