CAUSE OF GIRL'S DEATH COULD REMAIN MYSTERY
Police say they may never know how Danielle van Dam died, or when. The seven-year-old girl disappeared from her San Diego home February first. Authorities are now confirming that a child's body found by volunteer searchers Wednesday is that of the missing child. The district attorney says an autopsy performed confirmed her identity yesterday. The identification was made through dental records because of the condition of the body. Medical examiners are trying to determine the cause of death, but Police Chief Dave Bejerano says it's possible that we'll never know how, or when she was killed. A neighbor has been charged with kidnapping and murdering her. Authorities say they found the girl's blood on his clothing and in his motor home. He has pleaded innocent.

Here's another thought I forgot to add. If the suspect is into 'alternative' sexual practices, perhaps he practices that technique (help-don't remember what it's called) where a person is choked in order to heighten sexual pleasure. People have been known to accidentally die in those circumstances. Can Westerfield's ex-wives shed any light on this matter? Did he get too kinky for them?

I have an 18 carat gold choker from Egypt, and believe it or not, I've got one of those cameos. It was my great-great grandmother's. Though it's beautiful, I don't wear it because I'm afraid I'll lose it.

Cloriforming passengers then robbing them is common practice on trains there? You'd think that the line would be at least a LITTLE interested in cutting down on the problem! Heck, the conductor could've done it!

Interesting!! I did read that they were talking to law enforcement officials.
To: Danielle
Of which I did not disagree with you, all I have said, and maintained is that it is not any of the public's business and as long as law enforcement knows about it that is enough. People are going to speculate. I think the media keeping it out of articles reflects the P.C. mentality that prevails this day ... don't want to look like prudes. But (if true) it has a bearing on the case and people at Free Republic and elsewhere will discuss it. Having said that I can completely understand the VD's not wanting to admit it ... it would have become the focal point.

In fact I have a wonderful choker that I bought at Neiman Marcus years ago that always gets comments. From men carrying whips?

Don't want to be too graphic, but it doesn't seem logical he would want to "highten" little Daniells pleasure...forget it.
It's a horrible sexual deviancy among couples, or for perverted "self" pleasure, i.e., choking themselves during the moment of truth...AWFUL!

Folks, this is the meaning of the ankle braclet. When you wear it on your left ankle it means you are single. When you wear it on your right ankle it means you are married. I have one and I wear mine on my right ankle, meaning I am married and I am NOT a swinger. If you wear one on both ankles, would it mean you ARE a swinger?

If you wear one on both ankles, would it mean you ARE a swinger? Possibly ... or bi-sexual.

Yes, it IS sad...it's sadder yet when your girls are embarrassed to wear a hand knitted ski sweater to school during the North PA winter...just because it didn't come from the mall.

What ex-wives, and WHAT barrier at the top of the stairs!?!? Westerfield is twice divorced, and has two children from those unions.
The van Dams remarked early in the case that Danielle sleepwalked. Since her bedroom is on the second floor, I assumed the parents have made suitable preparations for her safety.

Just a thought. If there are no marks indicating reason for death on the body, I was just covering all the bases. Another thing that bothers me. A 50 year old man does not just one day become a pedophile. If he is, then he's been doing it a long time and there are other victims out there (not necessarily dead). If he has never done this before, then I would be very, very suspicious of this entire case.
To: FresnoDA
I did wonder what was the real story because the mother was at a bar the night Danielle disappeared, and the father put her to bed. Now, we're told the parents are swingers. Whoa! I would like to believe that the neighbor did it, but the parents are "swingers," and swingers are a different "breed of cat." I'm told by a reliable source there are really weird, kinky people in the swinging crowd sometimes all for a one-night stand. Now, I have my doubts about the neighbor. Maybe creating doubt is what the defense attorney wants. If so the attorney did a good job from my perspective.

Thanks for the 12 talking points. You have conveyed some of my thoughts on this very strange case. I had felt from the get go that DW was a set up. Don't ask me why just a feeling. Lots of talk about that ugly choker the child was wearing in every picture presented to the news media. Why would a murderer leave on the body
the most identifying piece of evidence? Who would be that stupid?Red
To: goldenstategirl
He could easily have been doing it for a long time ---he lived on the border of Mexico. There are a lot of pedophiles living on the border ---they can easily commit a crime on one side, hightail it back to the other ---where it's impossible for the police to follow. Mexico has many missing children.

"If he is, then he's been doing it a long time and there are other victims out there (not necessarily dead)."This is a point I've brought up several times before, and it should apply to everyone in the case to be thorough. Were there cases of molestation where Westerfield lived before, solved or unsolved? What about the van Dams? They've moved fairly frequently for a non-military family. Were there molestation cases where they lived before, during the same time frame? My guess is that the police are checking on these things, so perhaps we'll hear more about this kind of info.
