The Dems are treading on some mighty thin ice. Making this statements will come back to haunt them BIG TIME if another attack happens.
To: Pokey78
These democrats are like sniveling clueless teenagers. And they wonder why they are consulted?
To: Pokey78
I hate to give Dems ideas. But the line of attack should be on what we are not being told (for example, the bomb in Utah). If things are going on and people find out, it has a deleterious on the economy. Then people stop buying and vacationing and all that consumin' goin' on out there. And that helps the Dems, too. There current line, I think, is not suicidal. They are simply probing to see if Bush is keeping Osama on ice so as to bring him out when it is politically the most profitable.

I saw Maxine Waters on the news last week. She said, not an exact quote, that "Bush was carrying this war thing to far." All I could do was laugh. Quite frankly I felt like puking.

We seem to be good at developing entrance strategies, not so good at developing exit strategies, opined Senator Robert Byrd of West Virginia.Well, I have to agree with him there. We've got troops in Korea, 50 years on, and we're still in Bosnia and Kosovo and.....

I do believe it is fair at this point to ask the democrats the following:
1) Do you agree with Daschle?
2) If you do what would have done different in the war?
3) If you don't are you willing to speak out against Daschle?

One wonders how much longer Bush will put up with Daschle and his obstructionist lies. The kind of parsing done by Daschle on the "the President didn't ask for a floor vote" makes me want to puke. That's like saying to your kids, take the car to the store and get some bread. You go outside 20 minutes later and the car is still in the drive with the kid in it. When asked why they didn't go to the store, the kid replies, "You didn't tell me to start the car". It's infintile. Amazing, simple amazing.
However, it is not as amzing as the Pubbies not realizing the depths to which the Dems would sink to obstruct everything the President wants to do (not just judicial appointments). And make no mistake about it, the President will fight for these people when the Senate Pubbies decide they are ready to fight as well.

So the Democrats have realised that if they dont dent Bushs war leadership, theyre doomed.
You see, this is why I hate politics and almost just tune it out completely.
Washington is all about poll numbers and which head of uber party hydra stands to benefit over this paticular issue or that. The American public is almost never refered to in a way that's the least bit sincere.
Look at CFR.. Instead of hearing about it's Constitutional problems "experts" like Fred Barnes are doing a point by point on which of the two parties will benefit.
It's really dissapointing and may be a key reason why the idea of Term Limits has such broad appeal to Republicans and Democrats alike.

"Clearly, we've got to find Mahammed Omar, we've got to find Osama Bin Laden and we've got to find the other key leaders of the Al-Qaeda network, or we have failed." _________________________________________________________
Now ain't that just a kick in the teeth of every man woman and child that has died (military included) and those that will be killed since 9/11.
Daschle (the Troll) keeps saying "we", I would like to know just how hard that ********** censored, is looking himself? I wish he were dropped on the frontines somewhere with a "media pass".
To: Pokey78
The reference to the vote on the floor was relative to the Pickering nomination, however the larger question remains. How much longer will Bush tolerate the lies and obstruction and when will the Republican leadership relize the true nature of the Democrat beast?
To: Pokey78
Whats going on? Is this the beginning of another Vietnam? Or are the Democrats toying with throwing themselves off a political cliff? So far, the latter scenario seems the most likely. In 1972 when the Vietnam was unpopular, Nixon carried 49 states (I seem to recall). Remember the Silent Majority? That should dispense with the idea, that an unpopular Vietnam War was the undoing of Republicans.
I hope the dems keep up, with more of them bitching about the war against terrorists. And then I hope the American voting public elects a majority for both House and Senate, next November.
To: Pokey78
Senator Robert Byrd of West Virginia. If we expect to kill every terrorist in the world, thats going to keep us going beyond doomsday, he went on. How long can we afford this? We went (to Afghanistan) to hunt down the terrorists. We dont know where Osama Bin Laden is nor whether he is alive or not. We dont know where Mullah Omar is hiding . . . When will we know we have achieved victory?Really Senator Byrd? What exactly is the dollar value of American lives? At what point do we say it costs too much and just allow the terrorist to kill us?
To: Pokey78
I think the Democrats are right. We cannot have victory until Omar and Osama are caught.
Since the burden so far has been on the executive branch, I propose we send Daschle & Company on a mission to Afghanistan, and they can't come back until they've caught Omar and Osama.
Hey Tom, if you want something done right, you have to do it yourself!

As long as the administration keeps its nerve, and as long as military competence continues, the Democrats could be handing Bush a political gift of massive proportions. As usual, Andrew is right on the money. The Bush people are very, very smart. I hope they have the nerve to not only win outright the "war on terrorism" but also the nerve to bury the Scumocrat left. I mean go for the throat.
