Good work,compadre! I'm in.

Do we know when this is going before the Senate? If it won't be signed by next weekend, we should plan now to make next weekend a blowout protest against the signature, as many cities as possible.

We aren't against reforming campaign financing. This POS they're trying hard to force feed to us doesn't really reform a d^mn thing but the first amendment. They might tell you it TASTES like chicken, but it AIN'T no chicken. Real campaign finance reform would, IMHO, insure the little guy who doesn't have a gazillion $$ would get equal air time to the professional politicians, and would insure that anyone who takes foreign, or illegal corporate $$ would hang.I think Bush, himself was right with his suggestions for reform.

This bill will do nothing about your complaints -- except prevent you from broadcasting such an opinion within 60 days of an election, or 30 days of a primary.

Signature 1850. Thanks for starting.

The Senate hasn't passed their version yet.
If and when they do, the president has 10 days to either veto it or sign it, if he hasn't acted on it after 10 days it automatically becomes law.
That is my understanding of how the system works.

I've been getting a lot of e-mails concerning grammatical errors in the petition. I'm sorry about that. I'm an engineer, not an english major. I just want everybody to know that I've been made aware of the errors, but am not sure how I would go about fixing them at this point.
I have received a suggestion for a rewrite, that I had a teacher friend look over and bless. If the opportunity arises to fix it I will, but I do not intend to start this process all over again.
Jeff, did you have any one pick on your grammar on your flag petition? Were you able to fix it? If so how?

Daschle has delayed the vote on this. I wonder if the Senate will ever vote on it. I don't think Daschle ever thought this bill would pass in the House and it now looks like the Republicans will not fillebuster so it's all up to Tommy to ignore it until it goes away. The Dems only wanted the issue for political purposes. They never wanted the law changed.

I just called Richard Lugar's (Senator, Republican, Indiana) office and "Libby" informed me that Mr. Lugar WILL be voting FOR the bill! When I asked what his reasoning was, she told me
"he doesn't believe the bill restricts free speech." I told her to tell Mr. Lugar that he has just lost a LIFELONG, BROKEN-GLASS REPUBLICAN voter FOREVER.
I give up. We are Doomed.

Signed and bumped. Last 60 to 90 days of a campaign should not have free-speech limits, period!

Oh yes ... I am an engineer too and made my share of errors. If you are ever interested in that bio, click ...
HERE Anyhow, regarding fixing the petition, at the bottom of the petition page there is a link to "Petition Help". Use that link, identify yourself as the petition author and then paste the "fixed" version into the window.
Make sure you let PetitionOnline know that the fixes are all typos, spelling and grammatical in nature and that no subtance or wording has been changed. They will fix errors, but they will not accept a substance change of any type once the petition is published and gathering signatures.
It usually takes 3-5 days for them to get the fixes done.
At least, that is how it has worked for me. Good luck.
Keep BUMPING here on FR, but also have folks post to other forums, continue urging them to use their email chains, etc. I have a standard reply, suggesting all of this that I respond to for the hundreds and hundreds of positive emails I am receiving on the other petition. I am convinced that, that effort is helping a lot too in keeping that petition going.
To: Jeff Head
Thanks for the help Jeff. All of it. BTW, How's the 50mrmarch doing?
