I don't know why you would veto campaign finance. I'm a big time conservative but I am sick of seeing congressman bought out. You don't have any representation think of the Airlines getting 12 billion. And all the scumbags connected with Enron. And many Senator's wives who are lobbyists for huge corporations. Buying off senators isn't freedom of speech, it'll be like Clinton for a long time unless something is done.

most of us are upset about the advertising ban included in the current form of the bill far more than we are about the rules on where money goes.

"Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof;
or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble,
and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances."
Fittingly, a First Amendment BUMP. Defending one aspect of the First Amendment by exercising another aspect of it. Has anyone ever argued that political advertisements are "the press". I wonder what the "legal" definition of press is. Was "Common Sense" an issue ad created by a special interest group?

Have you read the whole BILL? It means "we the people" of this country would not, under THIS bill, be allowed as "issue groups" to broadcast commercials, ads or anything of that nature 60 before an election. That's what I call UNCONSTITUTIONAL. That's the problem I have with this bill.

Only liberals and moderates are behind this Bill. I haven't seen any Conservative Representatives for this Bill.

Answering my own question, from
Cornell law site:
Despite popular misunderstanding the right to freedom of the press guaranteed by the first amendment is not very different from the right to freedom of speech. It allows an individual to express themselves through publication and dissemination. It is part of the constitutional protection of freedom of expression. It does not afford members of the media any special rights or privileges not afforded to citizens in general.
