"ADULT CONTENT"
by Cindy Furnare

The term "adult content" should bring to mind an informative document of substance. Unfortunately, just like the word "gay" has been perverted; so has the term "adult content."

Truly it is disgusting to be bombarded by "adult content" e- mails which you would NEVER sign up for. There is nothing "adult" about these "adult content" e-mails. As a matter of fact, the term "sick and perverted" accurately describes these "adult content" e-mails.

Well, the internet search engines which include "adult content" are not any better. Perverts on the internet are not behaving like "adults" and their "content" is outright pornographic. Why "adult content" is included in any search engine is beyond me.

So, shut off your computer and turn on the TV. You have to search around a bit with the remote and finally you find a good program to watch. Unfortunately, as you channel surf; you realize that disgusting movies and "adult" channels are becoming more prominent as television enters the "adult" stage for at-home viewers.

Frankly speaking, our politically correct society has given the nod to the normalization of perversion. How much perversion will our society tolerate before we grow up, act like adults, protect our children and save our society?

Will all the men and women of high moral fiber stand up now and XXX out the obscenity in our society? You can start at home by tolerating only decency and honesty. Make this the normal standard in your household. Be an upright person filled with integrity. Carry your high moral standard with you at all times --- at home, at work, at church and in your community. Let your character shine as a beacon of light in this dark world filled with evil.

Maybe someday, we can gayly define the term "adult content" in a bright light that won't bring shame upon our society.

Maybe....

Sorry I dropped a verb. I almost never recieve smut-spam. The rest of that paragraph shows why. I report ALL spam, smut or otherwise, to my ISP, they do the blocking that keeps my mailbox clean. If it's really bad I report it to THEIR ISP (since the addresses are pretty standard it's easy). If it's downright illegal I report it to the cops.

After all that, inpite of hanging out in the darker corners of the internet, I get maybe 3 spams a month, 1 or 2 of which will be smut (lately I'm getting a lot of real estate spam... a lot for me that is).

And it's still used to mean happy and whatever, just not very often. Look words have double meanings. Get used to it. If I refer to a vegetable I'm probably refering to a plant that is judged edible but most Americans don't eat enough of, or I could be refering to a crippled person. You've got to go by context, if I say "no vegetables on my pizza" I'm probably not referring to gimps. There's just no way around that kind of stuff. And some words get taken over by a subsection of society, you gotta be careful who you're around before announcing that you're going to buy a joint, lid or key. Handle it.

"Adult Content" is just more evidence of a rotting society. Our prime time sit coms would make a sow blush. Unfortunately, most lame-brain, uninvolved, "I gotta be cool at any cost" parents don't monitor what their kids watch, listen to or do. The whole culture suffers as a result. Flame Away!

Get used to it.... Handle it.

It's interesting that people say things like "get used to it," or "handle it," when they don't have any facts to back up their proclamations. As if those phrases can somehow force us to accept what you're saying.

Just an observation, but it's also interesting that those terms tend to show up most from the fingers of those who are busily defending pornography and denouncing those "church women" who are against it.

Sounds like a little kid who threatens to do something stupid, "and you can't stop me." About on a par with those who can equate pornography with adult behavior.

No facts?! Just how many dual definition words and phrases do I have to list before you'll accept that this stuff happens and it has nothing to do with porno, it's just how humanbeings abuse language? Here's a quick list off the top of my head:
mouse
nut
canine
train
plane (unfortunately not automobile)
CD
Notice all of those words have at least 2 100% clean meanings (some might also have smutty meanings). That's what people do, we seem to have an easier time learning multiple uses for a word than learning more words. Pick any word you want and plug it into dictionary.com, most will have multiple meanings, some of those meaning will be associated with behavior you don't like. That's how it is. And if you can't handle it I'd recommend the cave life.

Free Tally, let me explain something to you. Actually, the internet was created for "educational" purposes. As time went on, porn, games and hackers found the internet useful for their purposes. Their purposes are not my purposes and when I use the internet, I'm not logging on to any pervert's site.

Yes, I do get offended by pop up ads, pop-up porn ads that sometimes come across on general web sites, and I get steamed when I receive mounds of spam, bulk e-mail, advertisements and porn. This is disgusting and I have taken measures to cut this unwanted, unasked for stuff down to size. If I could eliminate it completely, I would.

You said, "Well, you have to play by the rules of the owners of the domain, and the "perverts" and hackers are not going away any time soon. The more you press for "internet controls", the more they will make your life a living hell."

Well, that's interesting Mr. FreeTally, but I own my own domain name and my family owns several domain names. We don't advertise. We don't send spam. We DO play by the rules.

I have never "pressed for internet controls," but I did share a short list of links that does address the spam problem. Knowledge is power.

If you follow the WWF, you'd know that Stephanie McMahon plays her role of Queen Bitch quite well. She is loved in her role as much as she is hated by the fans.

Violence against women--I've seen several women get power bombed by guys, or hit. I understand its just pretend, but youth are impressionable.

Most of the female wrestlers could snap most of the guys I know in half. You might want to take the time to explain to your kids that these people know how to take "bumps" (falls) and know how to take hits. Oh, wait, then you'd have to actually parent them.

We've got to take back our roots and stand up for truth before we collapse internally.

Whose this we? The government? How about you start in your own house and not let your kid watch it?

Don't count on it. There are those horrible Freepers here who love that WWF trash, and that one who likes posting this lovely picture...

Why are these people allowed to stay here? They obviously aren't the kind of people who we want with us trying to build a better, more moral and godly America.

You of all people should know that it is a given that I don't let my kid watch wrestling.

Did I ever say I was going to use the government as a means to an end? No. Just grass roots as an effort to clean up the smut and demand some societal standards.

If you really want to go a few rounds with me over decency and modesty verses depravity and having women act like whores..I'm game.

I'll await your response. =)

yuck..that is one ugly guy...

Society has decayed to the point where moral relativism has basically replaced Judeo-Christianity. I don't have a problem with the liberal/libertarians participating on the forum because I like to engage them in debate. We have to start somewhere! =)

I'm aware she likes her role. Does that make what she does any less degrading? No.

LOL...you're giving me parenting tips? Thanks, but I'm well aware of how to do my job. My point was that kids are impressionable, and seeing large men power bomb women promotes a climate conducive to violence. You libertarians/liberals with no sense of right or wrong are the only ones who can justify that kind of garbage.

I occasionally like porn, myself. But oddly enough I seldom get "adult content" emails. But you get hundreds? Kinda makes me wonder what "system" they use to determine who they send stuff to.

I get a lot of other junk mail. I just delete it. Every once in a while, something worthwhile comes along. My brain is a more than adequate "filter".

I am glad that the poster called for consumer action, rather than government action. Nice to see people taking care of themselves, for once.

I'm sorry to hear that. The eyes and ears are windows to the soul--what you see and hear affects your behavior--and porn degrades women to the status of dogs. I wish you had more respect for us--and that some women had more respect for themselves.

Yep, kids are impressionable, which is why it is up to there parents, not the government, or any of it's agencies, to control what they watch on the tube.

As for going for rounds with you over morality, we already have, and I already told you I don't mind acting like a porn star (as you called it) in the bedroom.

I hear people say that all the time, as though it were established fact. On what do you base this statement?

I've noted that liberals and conservatives share one particular fault: no respect whatsoever for the intelligence or responsibility of their fellow citizens (of course they always exempt themselves from this judgement). They speak all the time about morality, yet seek to arrange society so that morality doesn't matter and no-one has to take responsibility for their choices, by removing the objects of "evil"--be they guns, drugs, dirty magazines, whatever. A "good" choice which is forced upon someone is not good at all. And objects like guns or dirty magazines do not possess some magical power which turns good people into evil people.

re your post#74: I don't like porn. I don't care whether you like it or not; I don't want it in my face.

I do not get "hundreds" of porn e-mail daily. I get several hundred or more e-mails per day. I run a few Christian and conservative web sites. Needless to say, being a Christian, conservative female is not politically correct. My web sites generate a lot of e-mail.

I used to spend hours a day writing to isps and e-mailers asking them not to send me those e-mails. I use the delete button quite a bit. I use controls that monitor my e-mail. Frankly speaking, I don't have time anymore to personally address the unsolicited bulk e-mailers, the spammers, and the smut-spammers. That is why I posted a short list of useful resource links along with my commentary. Knowledge is power.

By the way, you said, "My brain is a more than adequate 'filter'." Well, so is mine, but you missed the point of my commentary. Use your brain to comprehend what has happened to our society and understand that we are mired in the filthy muck of perversion. Remember Rome.

I've never once advocated government to come in and control what is on television. I said "grass roots," which means that people of like persuasion stand up for what they believe in order to influence the culture.

You're a moral relativist. As a Catholic, I have no problem with your belief system, but you're certainly not going to gag me or prevent me from speaking the truth.

As for acting like a porn star in the bedroom--that is your choice. I think you do yourself an injustice by lowering yourself to baseness, thereby degrading your dignity.

Ever heard of concrete moral truths? They exist. One of them is is that pornography helps create a moral climate conducive to sexual abuse and exploitation. It reduces sex to recreation and human beings to mere playthings and machines. It denegrates the sacredness of marriage, family and human life.

Even those who claim porn is harmless must tacitly acknowledge the power and influence of words, pictures, and ideas. Clearly what we see and hear affects our thinking and influences our behavior--and porn does indeed have a damaging impact on conduct toward women. Ideas do, after all, have consequences.
