Thank you for your reasoned response. You have in your last post truly revealed your feelings and position on this matter. And that is, "If a few innocents have to die (3000+) in the process of keeping open borders, political correctness, and maintaining our touchy-feely nation" then you are in deed correct. But I will in closing remind you, WE ARE AT WAR, and in any of these countries of origin you so vigorously defend, YOU CT would stand before a firing squad for YOUR skin color. Deportation in such a case is actually quite mild, and reasoned..........FresnoDA

The car was last seen traveling east on U.S. 264 and police were asked to hold the men, described as carjacking suspects, for the FBI, according to the message. The message was sent to all law enforcement agencies in North and South Carolina and in Virginia, Hoffman said.

Bump the High Alert status (I don't need my tinfoil hat today -- this is dangerous as well as outrageous.)

Let me parse your rhetoric here:

"Because everyone else acts like 100% tyrannical despots, we can just be 20% tyrannical despots, no hurt, no foul." Someone else's morally wrong behavior does not give justification for lesser moral wrongs by anybody else. WE have opted to hold ourselves to a higher standard. The true test of Constitutional governance is not whether we can say "a man is innocent until proven guilty," but whether we can ACT on that belief in the most trying of times, when all we want to do is lash out against SOMEONE who looks like the enemy.

Deport illegal aliens? No problem. Deport legal immigrants that we have probable cause (i.e., hard evidence on that particular individual) to believe are involved in nefarious activity? No problem. Detain and deport everyone who goes to a mosque? BIG problem.

Suppose we had taken your standard and applied it in 1995, immediately after the Oklahoma City bombing. Would you have supported placing all "right-wing extremists" in "detention camps" for the duration of the "emergency?"

I must remind you that we are fighting a war to preserve both our nation and the ideals upon which it was founded. Punishing an entire group for the actions of a few runs completely contrary to both the letter of the Constitution and the intent the Founding Fathers had in drafting same.

Like your response, and it will in deed hone the fine edges of this post.

First of all, this thread has stretched out over a couple of days now, so those who join in late in the game, such as CT fail to read many earlier threads in context.

As a recap, the original thread,

Posted on 10/25/01 2:52 PM Pacific by FresnoDA

NOW IS THE TIME TO CANCEL ALL VISAS!! WE MUST DEPORT ALL ALIENS, ENACT A MORATORIUM ON IMMIGRATION!!!

was posted after our government continued to bare down upon the rights of Citizens, while shunning direct confrontation with Illegal Aliens, Aliens in the USA on expired documents, Aliens in the USA on forged documents and Aliens in the USA on expired documents.

That WAS IT Poohbah. No rant to deport ALL PEOPLE OF COLOR OR ARAB DESCENT.  EVERY POST has a few handgrenades that posters throw in. But I have never said DEPORT all!!

CT is having fun with some creative posting.  The facts are that the INS, CUSTOMS department, etc. are moving at a snails pace addressing the aforementioned scenarios.

Where our Government has placed TREMENDOUS assets and energy is strangely at the feet of suspected Citizen Criminals.  Grandma flying from LA to Memphis, passengers waking from a nap on a flight and taking an unauthorized pee, and violation the 30-minute pee your pants rule, suspicious acting Secret Service Agents packing heat, and refusing to submit to "albeit relaxed" rules and regulations for carrying a firearm on a plane.

These are the concerns many have, or at least I have with the position taken by the government.  Now, we will limit/prevent Illegal Aliens from purchasing firearms.

Give me a break.

MARK MY WORDS Pooh, I believe that we will address the bombastic and offensive statements made in the October thread sooner than later.  The Border Security in the USA is a sieve, and the focus continues to reject the necessary PROFILING used by law enforcement in all other situations which will work.

Middle Eastern Saudis were the predominant evil on 9-11.  No rants of excuses or apologies will change that fact!!

But then again, David Schippers says that our government had significant prior knowledge, and the entire process could have been prevented.  So what the heck, let's let the conspiracy theories roll

GOVERNMENT PRIOR KNOWLEDGE AND INVOLVEMENT -- 9/11 ATTACKS

Wow, you're really out there. I said absolutely nothing of the sort. I'd like to say you're twisting my words, but you're just making stuff up. You're the one eager to trash the Constitution (and accept the resulting harms) because of an individual's race or religion. You're hysterical, in more than one use of the word.

But I will in closing remind you, WE ARE AT WAR,

Yes, and we should certainly strike those clearly associated with the organization which struck us. BUT...just because someone is a Muslim and/or Arab does not mean they are part of Al-Qaidah and out to get us.

and in any of these countries of origin you so vigorously defend,

I never said I was defending countries. I am defending individuals who peacefully reside in ours.

...YOU CT would stand before a firing squad for YOUR skin color. Deportation in such a case is actually quite mild, and reasoned

Reasoned? You mean to tell me that you that JUST BECAUSE OF SKIN COLOR (or religion) you support deportation? and that I should be satisfied because it's not execution? Do you hear yourself? Do you comprehend the absurditiy and evil of your comments? Do you recognize that you are fulfilling the straightforward definition of "bigot"? The 2nd Amendment exists precisely to let innocents (in this case, peaceful USA-resident/citizen Muslims who have not remotely harmed any Americans) protect themselves from people like you: a bigot who would wreck their lives ONLY because they look/worship different.

I gotta tell you, since September 11th I get a very uneasy feeling whenever I'm filling up at the local gas station whenever they're getting a fuel delivery

I get uneasy at the thought that many of the gas stations in my area are run by ME men. Which brings to mind some questions I've got.

  1. Would it be hard to blow up a bunch of gas stations in a metropolitan area at a designated time? Would that put a lot of neighboring highways out of commission?
  2. I've heard that NJ gas stations are mostly full-service--you can't pump your own gas. Does anyone know if that is true?
  3. With the drop in the price of gas, why would someone hijack a gasoline tanker unless he felt the gasoline was of value to him in an "extra-special" way?
  4. Wouldn't a truck driver with any experience have developed a good sense for ID-ing a person driving a car? Also, would he be able to see the driver's face in the car's mirrors?

Keep it simple CT, would you simply agree that those in the USA with NO DOCUMENTATION, Forged Documentation or Expired Documentation should be deported to their country of origin? Then we will let the legal system deal with any traitors or terrorists in our midst? Kay'!!

Of course I'd support deporting illegal immigrants. I don't care what color or religion they are, send 'em home until (maybe) they get their paperwork straight.

Problem is, you've been arguing for something completely different: deportation of ALL Muslims & Arabs. That's just plain wrong.

Then we will let the legal system deal with any traitors or terrorists in our midst? Kay'!!

Works for me, and has been my point. If someone's innocent, leave 'em alone (even if they are Muslim); if they're suspected of a crime, prosecute; if they're guilty, punish 'em. Interning/deporting someone just because of skin color & alledged religion is the antithesis of that.

What induced you to make such an about-face on the subject?

PETARD
A small bomb used to blow in a door or gate.

If it wasn't for its appearance in Shakespeare's Hamlet: "For 'tis the sport to have the enginer / Hoist with his owne petar" and its fossil survival in the rather more modern spelling to be hoist with one's own petard, this term of warfare would have gone the way of the halberd, brattice and culverin.

A petard was a bell-shaped metal grenade typically filled with five or six pounds of gunpowder and set off by a fuse. Sappers dug a tunnel or covered trench up to a building and fixed the device to a door, barricade, drawbridge or the like to break it open. The bomb was held in place with a heavy beam called a madrier.

Unfortunately, the devices were unreliable and often went off unexpectedly. Hence the expression, where hoist meant to be lifted up, an understated description of the result of being blown up by your own bomb. The name of the device came from the Latin petar, to break wind, perhaps a sarcastic comment about the thin noise of a muffled explosion at the far end of an excavation.

The French WW1 Pétard grenade

Initially, the Pétard grenade was designed to receive the 100g mélinite charge, model 1890. The explosive cylinder was 12.5 cm long and had a internal diameter of 3 cm.

Several types of cylinders can be found.

However, this hysterical screed, usually written in a huge red font, was posted by none other than FresnoDA in numerous places on FR, most recently in Post #265 on this thread:

WE MUST DEPORT ALL ALIENS

Now, I must conclude that either (a) you really can't remember what you wrote a mere seven posts ago, or (b) you have a hard time correctly defining words such as "is," "never," "deport," et cetera.

Regarding post # 265 (a portion of the link!!), when linked through, this was the closing statement.

Until our nation (USA) truly addresses immigration legal/illegal, our Homeland Defense Program is a joke!  We must cancel all Visas, and deport Aliens, both legal and illegal, and clear the deck.

As with the Israelis being held still in New York, whether innocent or not, we must act.  Some will say this is "Throwing the Baby out with the bathwater", maybe.  But mark these words, this action WILL OCCUR, deportations, if another major terrorist attack occurs!!

Aliens are described as anyone in these UNITED STATES with a working Green Card.  It of course does not apply to Citizens of these United States, of any race, creed or color.  Since we are splitting hairs.......

Immigration and Naturalization Service

WHAT IS AND WHO IS AN ALIEN??

How Do I Become an Immigrant Based on Employment?
An immigrant is a foreign national who is authorized to live and work permanently in the United States. You must go through a multi-step process to become an immigrant based on employment.

1) The INS must approve an immigrant petition (application) that was filed for you, usually by an employer.

2) In most employment categories (See EB-2 and EB-3 eligibility and filing information below), a U.S. employer must complete a labor certification request (ETA 750) for you from the Department of Labor's Employment and Training Administration.

3) The State Department must give you an immigrant visa number, even if you are already in the United States. Please see
How Do I Get an Immigrant Visa Number?.

4) If you are already in the United States, you must apply to adjust to permanent resident status when a visa number becomes available. Please see
How Do I Become a Lawful Permanent Resident while in the United States? If you are outside the United States when an immigrant visa number becomes available, you will be notified to go to the local U.S. consulate to complete the processing for an immigrant visa.

For an excellent overview of immigration, please see the chapter and tables on
immigrants in the INS Statistical Yearbook .

What Does the Law Say?
The legal foundation for getting approval for hiring an alien worker permanently comes from the Immigration and Nationality Act (INA). For the part of the law that addresses employment-based immigrants, please see
INA § 201, INA § 202, INA § 203 and INA § 204 . Rules published in the Federal Register explain the eligibility requirements for individuals petitioning for employment-based immigration based on specific criteria. They are in the Code of Federal Regulations [CFR] at 8 CFR § 204.5 .

Who is Eligible for Employment Based Immigration?
There are five categories of employment based immigration:

· First Preference (EB-1 priority workers): aliens with extraordinary ability, outstanding professors and researchers, and certain multinational executives and managers.

· Second Preference (EB-2 workers with advanced degrees or exceptional ability): aliens who are members of the professions holding advanced degrees or their equivalent and aliens who because of their exceptional ability in the sciences, arts, or business will substantially benefit the national economy, cultural, or educational interests or welfare of the United States.

· Third Preference (EB-3 professionals, skilled workers, and other workers): aliens with at least two years of experience as skilled workers, professionals with a baccalaureate degree, and others with less than two years experience, such as an unskilled worker who can perform labor for which qualified workers are not available in the United States.

· Fourth Preference (EB-4 special workers such as those in a religious occupation or vocation): aliens who, for at least two years before applying for admission to the United States, have been a member of a religious denomination that has a non-profit religious organization in the United States, and who will be working in a religious vocation or occupation at the request of the religious organization.

· Fifth Preference (EB-5 Employment Creation) If you would like to be granted immigrant status in the United States for the purpose of engaging in a new commercial enterprise, please see How Do I Become an Immigrant Through an investment? .

How Do I File a Petition for Alien Worker?
An INS
Form I-140 (Petition for Alien Worker) must be filed at the INS Regional Service Center that serves the area where you will work. Detailed information is provided in the instructions for Form I-140. Filing requirements differ for each category. Please see the appropriate link to Eligibility and Filing for each preference. If the worker is EB-1, click here . If the worker is EB-2, click here . If the worker is EB-3, click here .

For EB-4 special workers (those in a religious occupation or vocation), you or your employer must file
INS FORM I-360 (Petition for Amerasian, Widow(er), or Special immigrant) at the INS Regional Service Center that serves the area where you will work. Please see EB-4 Eligibility and Filing for more information.

How Can I Find Out the Status of My Petition?
Please contact the INS office that received your application. You should be prepared to provide the INS staff with specific information about your application. Click here for complete instructions on checking the
status of your application . Please click here for more information on INS offices .

How Can I Appeal?
If your Petition for Alien Worker is denied, the denial letter will tell you how to appeal. Generally, you may file a Notice of Appeal along with the required fee at the appropriate INS Regional Service Center within 33 days of receiving the denial. Once the fee is collected and the form is processed at the Service Center, the appeal will be referred to the Administrative Appeals Unit in Washington, D.C. Sending the appeal and fee directly to the AAU will delay the process. For more information, see
How Do I Appeal?. Please click here for more information on INS offices.

Can Anyone Help Me?
If advice is needed, you may contact the INS District Office near your home for a list of community-based, non-profit organizations that may be able to assist you in applying for an immigration benefit. Please see our
INS field offices home page for more information on contacting INS offices.

Frequently Asked Questions [FAQs]
Do you want further information? Please see our

If you don't knock off the self-spin, you're going to blow chunks any second now.

You wrote what you wrote, it was a bona fide piece of stupidity born out of non-rationality, and now you're trying to desperately hide that fact.

Admit you screwed up, and engage your brain prior to posting in the future, and this will be a non-issue.

Update on this today: Found here.

Tanker Truck Incident Was Road Rage, Not Hijacking

Curtis Media Group - February 15, 2002

(WPTF)-It now appears that incident in Nash County earlier this week involving a tanker truck was probably only road rage instead of an attempted hijacking.

A truck driver told the Highway Patrol that as he was driving on U-S 264 west of Wilson this past Wednesday morning when two men in a Dodge Neon tried to stop him. He speculated the men may have wanted to hijack the truck. He avoided a collision and pulled into a restaurant parking lot to call police.

The F-B-I was called in and a multi-state alert was issued. But officials say it appears to have only been an incident of road rage because their is nothing to indicate there was any terrorist intention. The car and the two men were never found.

Ralph Shaw, WPTF

Seems to be the standard response to these things since 9/11. No evidence of terrorist intention, nothing to see here, move along folks.

HOW DO THEY KNOW?

There is also nothing to indicate that there wasn't a terrorist intention. Why risk jumping to one conclusion over the other?

Really I don't know, I think they just pushed it under the rug on this one. I know I was watching out for a gold Neon on 440 on the way home!!
